Whoever watches this video please understand that changing your bicep workout every week or whatever won't help, what really matters is that you make sure u are actually training your biceps hard and using slow eccentric, also make sure you are actually progressively overloading your biceps over time, stick to a plan for atleast 4 weeks, imo it's better to run one for 8 weeks kus otherwise u won't know if it's working.

Thanks for the tips. Biceps have been so hard for me to grow and I’ve been on a mission lately to grow my biceps. Biceps for most guys are by far the easiest to make huge, the reason is because its the easiest muscle to put maximum time under tension on, you can activate them completely and directly. Almost every point of the curl movement done with good form almost stress's completely all portions of the bicep. You don't have to do much, you just need a couple of things to keep in mind for your form, and from there the muscle does almost all the work and receives direct tension in a simple movement. Also to top it off on the way down you can easily control it to get maximum stretch on the eccentric, getting almost 100 percent effectiveness for the work your putting in. the other muscles are not like that, they cant really get as much maximum tension without you having to keep in mind so many correct ways to hold your form to hit the muscle maximally. Also there are to many other muscles and joints that are involved by default that your not going to hit the muscle your trying to with as much tension and intensity throughout the whole movement of the exercise your performing. Add to the fact that the eccentric phase is harder to perform or not even really effective or existent for some muscles just adds to the point that biceps have all the qualities to work with to make them huge. If I had to estimate I would say even with excellent form your still only going to work and put under tension most muscles 80-90 percent of their capacity to work and be completely stressed. If you do biceps with excellent form its probably closer to 90 - 100 percent activation and capacity to be stressed. The closest muscles that are as effective as the bicep for completely stressing are probably the traps since its pretty much a simple movement up and down that works them. If most people could activate most of their muscles with the same ease they could activate their biceps almost all natty's would look like they do juice, and juiceheads would be unbelievably terrifying.

Actually, I've come to see that with each rep, you'd cramp the muscle. So bicep, I'd do say a preacher curl, bring it up and literally tense the peak to a cramp with each rep. That's the shortest muscle form under tension, and the key to response. But let me warn anybody who wants to try this now -- it will hurt like you've never known IF YOU DO IT PROPERLY. And what's special is that you can do this for every single muscle. If it will cramp, then cramp it for at least 2 seconds, and you want to cramp it as an increase during the cramp. So the full effect would be to make the muscle start to cramp and then intensify the cramp more DURING the hold OF the cramp. Try it. Do it. Live it. Keep doing it. But again, it will hurt. Lactic acid has nothing on "The Cramp". Now, you can grow -- period.

Nothing bad gonna gonna happen if you flex it hard during a rep?
@dougmurray3692
@dougmurray3692 Жыл бұрын
@@Qwertyuiop-bt3ut Well, that's the thing. It's sort of uncharted territory. Since the shortest arc is in that 'straight line' kind of idea, you want to close the arc extremely tight, but during the flex. It hurts but not sure about adverse effects. The first time I go back to testing my stuff, I'm hurtin' for days. Now, do that for at least 3 exercises per muscle, and you can't maximize your effort more. So the result is you grow...different. Even using a light weight works b/c it's not really about the weight itself, it's muscle engagement. But increases in weight involve the muscle deeper, and you get stronger. Restrictive training works in certain ways but when you go heavier, let yourself cheat on posture a bit. I think this is smarter when you're thinking injury-free. I would approach it with half of your starting max. Feel it out, give yourself time to build muscle memory and then start increasing to normal weight. There are ways to restrict the diet to compliment weight loss by dropping the weight and doing one set to where you just can't continue, twice a day. Fiff things for diff outcomes, but there's more than one way to do anything. This way gives you a result. Try it for 3 months and compare with what you've done before; how you feel, how you look. Staged pics help to compare.

Truth. I actually prefer lower weight so that I can actually focus on the movement and target correct muscle groups. When I hit 30,I feel like my arm is on fire. When I hit 50,I have to stop because the pain is like a knife going through my arm, whether it's triceps, biceps, shoulders, everything. I gotta say, never seen gains going that fast. So, basically, make your muscles burn to the pain you can't stand and you'll see something happens 😉 Great video Troy 😎

What lbs. are we talking when you say lower weight,if your doing that many reps? I used 15- 20 lb. Dumbells doing as much as 30 reps,but I had BFR straps on both arms for no more than 20 minutes.
@tomasvircik3742
@tomasvircik3742 Жыл бұрын
@@lots3799 It's when you can't do any more, let's say after 25 - 30 reps, you stop for about 5 seconds and then you continue until you can, repeat that pattern until you can do max one rep... And then you call it one set. You do 3 - 4 of these sets, then change variation of the exercise, and do similar set. Or, 20 reps one exercise, 20 reps another exercise, 20 reps another and 20,another in one giant set by 4 times with breaks 1 minute long between the sets. It's a hell going through but, it works

HIT all the way. Heavy enough to just squeeze out one set of 8-10 reps in strict form but to failure. Mike Mentzer had this figured way back in the 1970's and 80's. Once you've finished in the gym (no longer than 1 hr) you rest 4-6 days to recuperate and allow time for muscle growth.
@TheBachKornett
@TheBachKornett Жыл бұрын
4-6 days is if you're taking steroids, thats why the plans of 5 different muscle groups each trained once a week exists. 2-3 days, closer to 2, is the rest time required for nattys. I personally do Upper on day 1, Lower on day 2, and either continue with upper (having rested 48 hours for upper body by then) or take a rest day for 72 hours depending on how my weak points (Joints mostly) have recovered. I did and you can also do a full body day every second day and every other day as rest day but that just makes your workout take forever. But no, unless you take steroids, resting 5 days is pretty much wasting 50% of your time.

Not just with your arms but almost every muscle you exercise. You half to push your self to failure. When you get to that last rep when you know your going to fail you want to push to get that last rep and then try for another. Now your going to adjust your weight depending what kind of training your going after. If your going for bulky muscles then you want that failure to happen in 5 to 10 reps. If want compact lean muscles then you want to fail in 15 to 20. Then you have pure strength training where you do enough weight to fail in 1 to 3 reps. Now by now you can see the same occurring pattern. Your goal is to push your muscles to fail. They will recover stronger then before. When you can do the maximum reps to your specific exercise without failure then you increase the weight in small amounts so that your once again failing on the early side of your scale. Rinse and repeat. Now we must NEVER forget that good form and time under tension is critical. "but if I do the reps fast and throw the my body around I can lift more heavy weights". A big eggo will ensure your muscles grow as slow as possible.

Wrong. You dont need to push TO failure, that's if you wanna eventually get hurt. Go 90-95% to failure (1-3 Reps in Reserve) for almost similar gains while being MUCH safer.

Let me ask a question - may be dumb but I'm asking - I try to squeeze my hand grip hard on the bell, bar, etc when I'm curling, so forearm is getting a burn at the same time as I'm curling. Is this a good method?

i find i feel biceps more when i just let the dumbbell or barbell rest in my hands rather than gripping the piss out of it as it allows me to isolate the biceps more, also at the top of dumbbell curls try to tilt your pinkie finger towards the ceiling as much as you can to force your bicep into its shortened position, this will make you feel it way more and was a game changer for me when doing incline curls. hope this helps.

Don't focus bicep to much just do: hammer curls (branchialis and long head) preacher curls or normal curls (short head) instead of a useless extra workout do some behind the back cable pushdowns with extra long rope, this will peak contract the long head of the tricep (overhead things is not enough, that's only for maximum stretch not peak contraction)

i have had the exact same arm routine for the last two years and its simple i just do 4 sets of tricep pushdowns and 4 sets of biceps curls both on cables as i feel you can generate more force. its simple as shit because thats all my arms need and occasionally do some wrist work once a week but my arm workout is twice a week. i have built 17 inch arms natty so it does work and i had skinny ass arms when i frist started. the intensity of the set is what makes them grow so usually my final set is just 7 reps balls to the wall 100% failure. i focus more on the flex and the slow rep down but not so much on the stretch as its not necessary to look if you dont want tendon pain.

I mean you definitely don’t have to do different exercises for growth. Just look at the Bronze Age body builders. All those dudes had were wooden and iron cast dumbbells. Cable machines and such didn’t even exist, and they had plenty gains. Different exercises will only help maybe grow specific muscles or areas of the muscle. Like preacher curls are better for growing the front of the bicep, where as standard curls are better for growing the middle.

@Carlo Donn I think shocking or confusing the muscle is for advanced bodybuilders to progress through a plateau quicker. It can be achieved in different ways though. When I was plateaued on my bench press (12 reps, can't remember how many sets, 3 or 4) for a few weeks, my trainer put extra weight on the bar and I did just a few reps. The body wants to conserve energy and will only recruit the necessary % of muscle fibres. A few reps with more weight forced more fibres to get involved, and I felt a better contraction and easier control of the weight I had been plateaued on. I'm not a pro. This is just one example of my experience.
@bige2012
@bige2012 Жыл бұрын
@@carlodonn8983 actually some of what you said is incorrect. Muscle confusion is important, doing the same damn workout and moves time after time is shit. Not only do muscles adapt, it is boring as hell in the mind.
