This is a deleted scene not featured in any of the releases. It includes Superman flying past a Concorde jet. This was created by a couple of faneditors as part of their Superman 2 Restored International Cut

I guess they wanted to give you an idea of just how fast he is flying.

I remember this scene, it was in the abc tv version in the 80s, the Superman theme music, sounds so incredible in this!

To clarify, this scene was included in the 80's TV release in Australia.

This seems more like a commercial than a scene

This scene is eerie to me. I don't know why!

He "showboats" a little too much for heading to a crisis.

This scene was filmed and originally intended for part 1.

@@MMAfighter38113 you’re exactly right. It was originally intended to appear after his first night out with him en route to the Fortress of Solitude. At least, that’s what I got from reading the original shooting script.

@@darthkurland I wasn’t sure if the pilots were shocked to see Superman or some random guy flying since it was his first night. Since the Salkinds made more money for the ABC Broadcasts, as many deleted scenes were added as possible

Seemed to me the pilots were like yeah him again - like he does that on a regular basis.

A nuclear bomb set to go off and he's greeting the pilots! Be more cool scene if the pilots see him speeding by like they're still.
@fattony76093 жыл бұрын
They kind of made up for that in "Returns' when they said an unidentified bogie is moving in ...and it's moving fast. While looking at radar.

I really don't understand the complaints with this scene. People complaining about what appears to be a spiralling photo might as well complain about some of the other effects such as the miniatures they used to represent Superman and the others. Jeez...

This part should have been left in
@mst3kpimp2 жыл бұрын
This looks unnatural, why is superman looking all around like he never saw a jet? Likely they repurposed shots from pt.1 of supes chasing rockets or looking for rescues then had the pilots react, what's more the last spiral shot is just a still photo rotating.

You keep saying it wasn't in any of the releases. I saw this sequence in the cinema. I'm in Australia. We had the international cut which we continued to see on television until sometime in the 90s when we could only access the US version. Such a watered down version.

Nah, you didn't see that scene in the AU cinema. I saw the movie in the cinema many times. The Concorde scene was a happy surprise for its first TV showing around August 1983.

Some of this deleted footage was discovered in its original widescreen aspect ratio and cleaned up. This one was discovered but not released, despite being shot by Richard Donner. There were five scenes from the TV Cut that Donner filmed and were included as bonus material. It also included one more scene that had never been shown to anyone.

I would give anything to see this scene in widescreen.

You can tell it's shot by donner because of the flying shot of superman at the end, it's clearly from the original film where he's flying out of lex's lair.

I have a burned TV cut of the international version from an 80s airing. There's a bunch of little extra moments in it that aren't in the Donner or theatrical cut. Hoping to one day see this long cut on Blu-ray.
