CusDa’Mato understood that he had a real life Monster 👹 He didn’t want to tame him, he wanted to control him so he could sic him on other fighters. He wanted mike to keep his animalistic behaviors and instincts. That’s what made Mike so vicious and scary! Teddy is speaking from a place of jealousy. He envied Tyson and Cus relationship. Before Mike, Teddy was the adopted son after Mike Teddy became the black sheep!

Teddy is one of the greats but mentally and probably emotionally has a certain disdain for Cus and Tyson individually, but especially their relationship. Teddy has his reasons including how much he has sacrificed for his trade yet to always be overshadowed in a way by the Lore of Cus D'amato the greatest boxing coach that ever lived.

Superstitions are rituals that you can use to center yourself and marshal your power. They can help bring everything within you into alignment. They represent the power of faith. Also regarding Cus letting things slide with Mike: I think part of what made Mike so intimidating to his opponents was his complete resistance to being civilized. It’s hard to occupy the mindset of pure bad intentions if you’re constantly worrying about how your actions affect other people. If you want to be a powerful monster, that little voice in the back of your head…it needs to go. You can’t be a juggernaut if you allow yourself to get dragged into that frame. Winning has to be the only thing. If you really want to understand what Cus did for Mike, Friedrich Nietzsche has something to say on the matter. Mike is such a tortured soul because of what society is, NOT because of what he is.

Teddy is still respectful and understanding of Cus's predicament yet he's being honest and fair. No one is perfect and Mike's later behavior proves Teddy's point. Boxing is important but life is more so. Cus's understandable weaknesses in handling Tyson are obvious for all to see. Again had Cus been younger things would have been different and hopefully Mike would have been a better person and champion for far longer. @@bobbywilliams9420 The occult is always bad, it's just a form of witchcraft. Black magic, white magic...it's all magic and the practitioners of the aforementioned are witches/sorcerers. Based on the little tidbits I have seen here and there (Cus paid attention to astrology, Mike Tyson said that his encounter with Cus wasn't by chance but that Cus "summoned him", Mike also said that Cus had a number of mystical books in his collection) it would seem to be the case that Cus was involved in the occult to some degree at least. Honestly he LOOKS like he is into the occult; that is how I found this stuff out--I was looking at him and thinking "this guy has a sort of occultist/sorcerer look to him, I wonder if he was known to be into the occult". So I typed "Cus D'Amato occult" into KZfaq and starting coming across some confirmation. I am not saying that either him or Tyson flat out sold their souls, but I do think Cus was into some "dark arts" type of stuff.

What Teddy is describing is how these College, High School, AAU and now even Middle School prospects have BEEN treated. Tyson was THE BLUE CHIP boxer and Cus knew it. I don’t think it’s an indictment to Tyson, it’s more so a critique of Cus’ handling of Tyson. Tyson has been on record saying Cus didn’t really teach him anything by way of controlling his emotions....and right today he’s still emotionally volatile. Teddy just forever hanging on to that anger and resentment which means he has not really grown as a human being. Meanwhile, tyson has done everything and has experienced everything. He’s grown as a man and he wants to share what he’s learned with us. Teddy does not have the moral high ground over tyson. He’s just a sad and angry man

Good interview. Just want to point out though… Alexander the Great was a Cancer. So was Julius Caesar. Not sure how much bearing zodiac signs would have on leadership skills though. But if you read about a Cancer and consider Alexander’s welcoming and nurturing of every culture he conquered, it does make you think. That being said I’m sure you could find a trait that matches every zodiac sign in everyone. Interesting none the less.

@@badapple9482 knowing more than me is beside the point. Atlas has a hard on to criticize Mike and Cus........for nearly 40 year old beefs. @@ORION2180 Have you heard Teddy talk about Mike messing with a young girl? He does and I believe him. Mike went back to his old neighborhood and did stick ups and assaults when Cus was his trainer. Mike will tell you himself he was an animal back then so I can understand Teddy not appreciating Cus taking Mikes side. I like Mike NOW but Teddy is right in saying Mike was unworthy of the special treatment he got back then. It's like the football player that skates through school on his athletic ability but has no character. Your probably right, no one would know of Teddy if it werent for Mike but who would you trust around your family, a 16 year old Mike or Teddy? Peace.

Teddy would've never have been able to tame Tyson the way Cus did. He can critique all he wants about the way Cus handled him but at the end of the day, he took a kid that probably would've ended up in prison for the rest of his life and made him one of the greatest heavyweights of all time. If it were in Teddies hands... you would've never even heard of Mike Tyson. Cus did right with Tyson and nobody would have done it better including Teddy.
