For 30 years I've been using a piece of PVC pipe glued to a flange so it will stand upright. I fill it with Simple Green HD and drop in the suppressor.

What does this do that Ballistol doesn't? Hell, for that matter, what does this do that a windex soak and a warm oven dry doesn't? I'll give you guys props for the vice block and especially the hammer block. Those are some good idea products I could see myself using.

.22LR suppressors have to be cleaned regularly. The manufacturers will say to clean them after 200-500 rounds. They're all made to come apart and be cleaned by the user. But if you're shooting jacketed bullets, then you don't really need to clean the suppressor. A longer barrel and rifle cartridge probably help. Many centerfire suppressors are sealed and don't even open for easy cleaning, because it's rarely necessary. After tens of thousands of rounds, lead and fouling will start to build up in the can and make it heavier and reduce the internal volume, diminishing suppression. At that point people are interested in cleaning them.

I use CLR. Calcium Lime Rust remover. On my Sparrow and MIST. Don’t know why you’d clean larger caliber ones.

Counties and local municipalities often have locations where you can dispose of hobby chemicals like this.

Not once have I cleaned any of my rifle cans, little oil here and there. My Mask and Obsidian I just toss the baffles in my stainless tumbler for a couple hours, oil and reassemble.

I wonder if this will work good with flow through suppressors like Huxwrx?
@caseybrown51835 ай бұрын
If it’s non toxic, it doesn’t work.
@ExpatriotSilencers5 ай бұрын
Yea, I'd have to question its effectiveness if it doesn't involve some kind of chemical reaction and any chemical reaction is going to produce potentially terribly toxic by products. Lead in solution is pretty dangerous. Getting carbon fouling into solution seems to be quite difficult.
@Paelorian5 ай бұрын
Breakthrough Clean solvent has a good reputation as effective. You don't need to poison yourself to clean you gun. There are so many solvents and oils (lubricants, preservatives, CLPs) available now, including non-toxic ones, that toxic products are unnecessary. I don't need the best of the best, most solvents and lubes and oils work, so I pick among the non-toxic products. There are some pretty good options, including Breakthrough. ALG/Geissele and Lubriplate also make excellent non-toxic lubricants.
