Protests against the war in Gaza on campuses of American universities are spreading. Students of San Francisco State University, Texas State University and the University of Texas in Austin have now joined in to demonstrate against Israel's offensive and show their solidarity towards Palestinians.
Meanwhile, talks between the protesters and Columbia University officials have broken down and authorities have told students to voluntarily disperse or face suspension.
University President Nemat Minouche Shafik said Columbia would not divest assets that support Israel's military, a key demand of the protesters. Instead, she offered to invest in health and education in Gaza and to make Columbia's direct investment holdings more transparent. Students have promised to continue their protests.
