Finally Fasting

As someone who consistently fasted for over two years, a 36+ hour fast should be a walk in the park, right? RIGHT?
Well, it's a little different when you've gained back 75lbs while overeating multiple times a day for the last two and a half(ish) years.
If you're new to fasting, let me share what to expect and give you some tips and tricks to get through your first extended fast.

Jerome!!!! I watched you live on your livestream, the last one from 2 years or more ago. I picked up that you were saying you might not be doing the videos for awhile. So what? You went away for a bit, that's fine. People should get over themselves - you needed space and time. I am so glad you are back and will join you on the fasting journey. But, you don't owe me or anyone anything. Be good to yourself. Yes, people care, but you focus on you xxx

Some of us are short. When you’re short it’s crazy how little you have to eat to lose weight. Unless you are made of muscle if you are short you have very little wiggle room so fasting gives you the ability to eat normally on you feeding days.

We're doing the twin thing again. I understand the concept of "All or nothing". When I'm on, the world is beautiful. But when I fall off, I'm in a state of total collapse. If I'm black-out eating, I'm also not minding my health, sleeping or exercising. I was feeling the urge to do some major damage this weekend but again you inspired me. So instead I just started a 75hr fast literally mins ago. Thanks Jerome!

For Kevin or the people that was carrying on and upset at him in the chat....GROW THE FCK UP!! He came online bearing his soul with a level of transparency he hasn't even been able to show family members. He is not your LORD and Savior! He's a human like all of us, and he's showing us how important it is to get back up no matter how hard you fall. How DARE you make it about YOURSELF. You want to come on here and attack a person who suffers from body dysmorphia, eating disorders, and depression?? Stop being selfish and seek therapy and guidance immediately.😡 #TeamJerome

Love seeing your true honest stories being shared and so open and vulnerable. Your experiences parallel mine very closely and hit so close to home it hurts and is a crazy eye opener. It's good to not be alone with these kinds of thoughts. Body image is something I've been conflicted with most of my life, food binges as an escape, being overweight is tough. It makes you want to avoid seeing people you love because you're not happy with yourself. I hope you do call your mom, life's too short to avoid your family. You're not alone with your experiences and journey. I went through my best self last year and went from 190lbs to a healthy lean 155lbs and two things got me there, watching your videos for inspiration while I did rolling 65 and 90 hour fasts and Muay Thai. The combination of extended fasting and an exercise addiction that I loved doing got me at one of the happiest places of my life. I'm in your place again, I bounced back, I got sick for a while, stopped doing Muay Thai, went into the food rabbit hole and spiraled. I weighed in at 198lbs and 30.5% body fat this week. I'm 5'7. My goal right now is 145lbs with 12.0% body fat. My goal is to do some of the rolling 90s along with you and combine it with weight lifting and kickboxing to hit my goal. Love being able to sync the times and have people to fast with. I'm starting tonight with a 65 hour to match yours and have dinner this Friday. I'll be starting a 90 hour fast on Saturday night. It's been at least 6 months since I've done a longer fast and I'm excited to get back to it. Thanks for being a catalyst for change. I'm excited we both got a taste of success so we can get back there, when we know it's achievable it's just consistency and mind over matter. Fasting is one of the most healthy feelings I've ever had in my life and I know it's not for everybody but if it works, it works. I'm along for the ride with you, I'm glad you're bringing along community from the beginning so we can work with you too! I hope you start a Discord channel so we can all have a place to communicate and share our goals/falls/triumphs. Good luck! You've got this!! 😃

Hey Jerome, forget about those who might be shocked by your weight gain, focus on you only. If that means staying away from others until you're comfortable with mingling, then do that. You should know, because we were totally unaware of the situation going on with you, theres going to be a reaction to that. We became very familiar with your channel and appreciated you sharing your experience with fasting with us, and then you disappeared, we honestly thought you had died based on serveral comments. That was shocking and troubling to hear and believe. No one that personally knows you, or you yourself came to let us know that you were in fact still alive but on histus. You shouldn't be surprised or put off by our reaction to your sudden reappearence. We know you were hurt and upset with gaining the weight back, but we too were hurt by what we thought was the reality. We are not bots out here, we are real people who had invested our time into you as a real person. Again, more than thankful for your return and realization that you are still alive, and still looking good, even with the added weight. We love you out here, and want the best for you!

Jerome, no joke. My most recent therapy session: therapist suggested I get back to fasting and adopt more consistent sleep habits. I think we're on to something! When you shared about talking a walk for the first time in a long time (minute mark 27:40), I felt a HUGE smile break out down to my heart. Wanting to get outside and take a walk was a breakthrough moment for me in coming out of a deep depression. Therapy + fasting = winning team! 👍😃👍 And yes, please consider resuming "Break Fast" episodes. Somehow they help me even when fasting at the time I view them! So good to have you back, Jerome.

So happy to see you back! I literally am in the same boat as you. Became motivated by the snake diet, lost a heap of weight, stopped fasting and couldn't start again and gained alot of weight back. Experienced lots of shame being around other people so became reclusive. I followed Maya on youtube and I got turned off the snake diet seeing how Cole humiliated her for failing to lose enough weight. Recently I found "A Healthy Alternative" on youtube, another fasting channel. They interview a wide range of people. It's uplifting and motivating. You might enjoy it too? Thanks for being so vulnerable with us. I look forward to continue seeing your face 😊

I just discovered your channel over the weekend, Jerome - and I’m impressed at your journey, and how you and I are rather similar in a sense. Both 43, both Chicago, and I also am trying to lose 50+ pounds (280-ish / 5-10’’), over the next 4 months, before my Wedding !! 😅 I’ve done 8-16 IF , 5 years ago, and dropped 53 lbs back then, though of course I stopped / fell off a bit, and over the next several years got back up close to my all-time high (286 something, !!). But, I know Fasting works well for me, and I’m gonna try your slightly extended version for a while, to see how it goes. I got that Zero app this morning, and today will be my last eating day …then try to fast 4 days (like your 90’s), and eat Saturday w Fiance etc (so we can still have a night out / dinner together/ couple stuff). Thanks for this channel and your playlist ! I’ll enjoy watching through everything 🎉 - IF Warriors, unite !

You seem like such a kind, genuine person that would be a great friend. Thank you for telling your story and being brave enough to face the issue head on and to start fasting again. Remember that all of the bears in the world eat like pigs for months, gain hundreds of pounds, and then they fast it off with a 4 month dry fast in winter. Fasting is nature’s cycle especially for predator species. The average lion eats 100 lbs of meat every 18 days. We’re not meant to graze like the herbivores do. We’re literally built to eat huge amounts of food when it’s available and then to not eat until the next kill. You’re not alone in being wired like this; we all are. In fact, it’s the people who don’t gain and lose weight quickly that have the bad digestion and metabolism. Our modern lives do not line up with our nature, so we all struggle with it. Hang in there.
