The 10 minute prologue about the forging of the rings of power in The Fellowship of the Ring is a million times better than the Rings of Prime will ever be.

Its so sad they decided to preach politics and wokeness rather than entertain and be faithful to the lore.

Fun fact, IMDB (owned by Amazon) is _still_ censoring reviews, even neutral ones that don't mention The Message. They're doing it for She-Sulk as well. For attempting to resubmit my silently rejected reviews I've now been given a stealth-strike that's raised my minimum review word count to 600 . The only character in this entire show I felt anything for was that poor snow troll in the first episode who was killed in his own house for no reason by the elves who got there, uninvited. Nobody asked them to come. Other than that, all the characters feel so one dimensional and unrealistic. Especially the woman elf, omfg.

The true Galadriel would: - Know what lies inside the hearts of everyone around her. - Inspire loyalty and devotion, up to a near religious-level. Her men would march upon the bowels of Angband itself if she asked. - Her very presence would inspire awe, fear and love depending on what you have inside yourself. - Being one of the wisest and oldest beings, her patience and calmness would be something of legends. - Would definitely not look like she is in a decade long constipation. I can only name this amazon jest "not-Galadriel" or 'Karendriel'.

My favorite part is when Galadriel jumps on her polar bear voiced by Ian McKellen and yells “for Narnia.” Great writing

This video really reminded me of the greatness of Cate Blanchett's performance in the LOTR films. She really made you feel like she was a powerful god-like queen who was truly conflicted and infected from the power of the ring over time. So many stellar performances in the LOTR and the Hobbit films. Not so many in this series tbh.

We're supposed to believe that the immortal and magical elves are going to migrate to Numenor so that they get get jobs as gardeners, cooks, and brick-layers? Dear God, this show is stupid beyond belief.

It's insane to me that they can make something this bad and then have the audacity to claim that it's "the novel that Tolkien never wrote". To be that arrogant and that incompetent at the same time is so far beyond my comprehension!

Your reviews are spot on. This show is complete drivel. It's so bad that my 17 year old son who's a huge LOTR fan couldn't sit through one episode. Made it about 30 minutes and then walked out of the TV room. Rings of Power is destined to become a case study in behavioral economics on the dangers of groupthink.

When I was in high school, I knew this kid that loved to "write" fanfiction. The problem was, it was nothing but plagiarized scene after plagiarized scene. They had seen something they liked in another story and copied it directly into their "story" and called it their own idea. It was usually terribly dull and extremely predictable... glad to see they are doing well for themselves.

People like Trevor Noah and Whoopi missed the entire point fans are making when calling out the 'diversity' in Rings of Power. There already was diversity in Tolkien's books. Amazon ignored it in favor of making characters up. Almost like they don't actually care about 'diversity.'

The thing is, looking at Galdriel, there is no way of telling that she is an elf. She just comes across as a badly acted human.

How sad that Adar is the only one who actually looks like an elf.

My point is, Tolkien gave us his beloved languages, that developed and changed in tandem with his diverse, culturally rich world he called a secondary world, of which middle earth is merely one part. This gives his world a depth/relalism other authors are missing. He even rewrote things to fit the lunar circle, as he once wrote about there being a full moon, when he was in fact a day short. Now that is dedicated world building. It is similar, yet unlike ours. One of his making, describing the nature he loved and hated to see destroyed, one in which magic is steadily fading and will inevitably disappear. Then he wrote a relatable story into this world he developed until his death, simply because it (the story) wanted to be written. No specific real live politics, no allegories, it's mostly timeless concepts that stay relevant to readers of all ages over the last decades. He did not even expect others to share his interest in this secondary world and wrote it for himself and was gladly proven wrong when his books were published. It shows courage and cowardliness, honesty and deceit, prejudice and open-mindedness, life and death, mistrust of strangers finally leading to cooperation, hope yet no certainty, etc. All universal concepts in a setting that isn't our modern world or even a 1:1 representation of our past, merely inspired by it to create what he was looking for in english folklore. It simply is HIS and it should not be disrespected by people claiming to know better/ to be able to "fix" Tolkien's Middle Earth so that it can be like our world. Amazon/Activists don't even care about his story, only how they can use a semblance of it for their agenda, their messages crammed into his independent world to highlight and to influence opinions in a way he did not intend. Politicising his work..... It's not wanted or needed! And when we say exactly that, they use stigmas to belittle our opinions and paint us as small-minded bigots. They ridicule that we care about a literary masterpiece to such an extent, (tell us to get a life and basically to stop caring about it at all, because it isn't real, it doesn't matter what they do to it) Instead of listening to our criticism about how they misrepresent and change things that are not necessary, they say we aren't welcome in the fandom anymore. They are drawing lines to defend a story that isn't Tolkien and claim it's the new "fixed" Tolkien that's open to all....and don't see the irony of that statement, don't mention they mean open to everyone that agrees with their point of view. Someone who does not like it, for whatever reason, is apparently against them and therefore on some level X-phobic/-ist, etc His story was already translated to dozens of languages, well received all over the world, simply appreciated for what it is. Now they are trying to claim it wasn't so and that they are the only ones able to do make that happen. That some people could not truly enjoy it before because of the creator of the entire world and story. It's sad...and I will never complain about the Tolkien estate not selling rights to his works ever again.

The scene in the jail where she just handles 5 dudes twice her size OFF CAMERA was just painful. They just shuffle in there with zero resistance, it was a joke. Also one of the very few moments of the fourth episode I have been able to commit to memory, the whole show so far has just gone in my eyeholes and poured right out some other orifice. The writing is just too miserable to hang on to anything.

I just love how a billion dollar company expects us to tolerate every massacre they do to this series but at the same moment they can't handle any criticism towards their show😂 it's so ironic and it seems like the access media doesn't want to understand the fans just a little bit... Imagine the meltdown from Trevor if they race swapped characters like Blade, Spawn or John Stewart. Of course race swapping is fine if they do it. The show itself is indefensible, the amateur writing and poor dialogue are laughable!

HOLY SHIT THIS SHOW IS LAUGHABLY BAD. I literally laughed at the prison scene. The dialogue is pure middle school drivel. It’s so so so much worse than I ever thought it could be. My wife and I started watching this series just this week. My wife is a Tolkien-fan-by-marriage. She kept asking if “is it this dumb in the book?” Anyway, at this point, we are watching the episodes just so we can watch the Nerdrotic reviews right afterwards. She laughs so hard she has tears. We agree. The show is epically stupid, but the reviews are hilarious and on point.

My Prime account claims I've watched The Rings of Power--I've never watched a single second and I always skip the ads for it. They're pumping their numbers.

Amazing how much "entertainment" today is made for people who measure themselves, and judges others, based on the color of their skin and not the content of their character.

I have a genuinely serious question regarding all this woke culture that's hit video gaming and films. It seems that a LARGE majority to such changes are always met with negative feedback, not because people are racist/sexist etc, but because in order to shoehorn something woke in, they often end up destroying narrative and lore. My question is then why do they keep doing it then? There's no way that producers and investors prioritize MONEY and profit over "being inclusive". And you'd think they're taking huge profit hit with all the negative feedback. But it seems not to be the case, since wokeness continues being injected in to all forms of popular media.

It's funny that they created an entirely new character for her to LITERALLY just stand around doing nothing.

The Amazon writers could have had cool scenes with Sauron manipulating and corrupting the Numenoreans, instead they went with "they took our jobs"

There is one silver lining about Amazon's The Rings of Power. Incentivizing fans to return the LotR, Hobbit (not so much the Hobbit Trilogy, but it's still leagues better than RoP), the Simarillion, etc. It's makes us realize that we kind of took these stories for granted, and there's nothing wrong with revisiting them when there's currently nothing better to enjoy.

Audience reviews still disabled on Rotten Tomatoes...the fanbase has responded by inundating The Hobbit with 5 stars. I love you guys 🙏

In my country there is a stone tower - a small fortress from 13-14 th century. With some nice paintings on one of the inside walls of main room - its depiction of Lancelot and Guinevra story. These paintings are very precious becouse they are very rare for their kind. There is nothing like this preserved that well in all of the country and in most of Europe. They are absolutely gorgous for its kind. The figures of knights on horses are esp. good for the time and region of their make. Historians agree that it was work of accomplished, famous artist. This artist never finished his project ( we dont know if he died or was fired ) so his job was taken by another painter, maybe much younger or without experience. And the second artist made just one depiction on one of the walls of the tower probably before being fired - it supposed to be another knight on a horse but it looks more like an American Iroquois on a dinosaur :D Thats how I think now of Amazon "fixing" Tolkien :D

That Weirdest Cringe fight scene with Guy-lad-riel, I notice something. After the Guard opened the prison door to let Guy-lad-reil out he immediately closed it again afterwards and we don't see any of the other guards opening the prison door again. so somehow magically it just re-opened by itself to let Guy-lad-reil push those four guards in. Talk about a billion dollar production

"There is a tempest in me" is them trying to copy Cate Blanchett's famous speech from her role as Elizabeth I. Galadriel is so indelibly linked with Cate Blanchett that ROP is ripping off her other roles to try and make Guyladriel look genuine!

The thing that drives me insane is how Arondir and Galadriel get their armor back. Galadriel’s amor is on the boat going to the west and Arondir’s breast plates we’re still with the orcs! What the heck?

Even just seeing a few clips without really knowing the context, it just feels so Hollywood. The lighting, the makeup, the tone, everything.

I can tolerate making up characters and small changes to the story in order to better fit a movie or TV adaptation. For instance adding the tauriel character in the hobbit felt contrived but at least the rest of the movie attempted to stay on plot. I knew things were going to be added simply because they wanted to stretch out a single ~400 page book into 12 hours of movie. What I can't tolerate, at all, is the omission of lore points when there is no reason to leave it out in the first place. In the first 5 minutes of the first episode they left out the part dealing with Melkor's influence in the decision for the elves leaving Valinor. They leave out the Doom of Mandos (to get galadriel to Numenor?) which was a big influence for the decisions elves make after returning to middle earth. They leave out Galadriel's part in the following the kinslayers. I feel like these were intensionally left out because we might not feel the same about Galadriel if she was a morally grey character. That was the beauty of Tolkien's work, however. Showing that people who were not perfect were capable of incredible things.

Nerd of the rings gave this show an 8/10 and in the same video he was sponsored by audible. Also he has exclusive access with the actors and he is now interviewing them on his channel (AND DIRECTORS). But we are the crazy ones when we say amazon payed him. Remember, amazon also send him to a trip to london and to the premiere of ROP. And don't forget that other youtubers, like hello future me, have come forward and said that amazon pressured them into giving the show a positive review and when he refused amazon ghosted him. (Daniel greene another youtuber said amazon did the same thing to him but with amazon's other fantasy show wheel of time). I liked nerd of the rings but amazon payed him 100%. I just hope he was smart enough to ask for money since he has kids and not just access.

I swear they just took a dragon age script, repurposed it and called it a day. All of the plot points are dragon age, including the knife ears,the weird orc behaviour and the unknown evil that will emerge and only galadriel can stop it

Did anyone notice how relationships and friendships in RoP are not valued as much as the original series, and everyone just seems to hate each other? I was feeling that heavily when Durin was having a rage fit, and during several other scenes. Just so much anger….I’m not feeling any kindness and/or love emanating from ANY characters, and it just seems to be getting darker and darker, like there’s no hope, and nothing left to cling to other than bitterness and hatred. I wouldn’t be surprised if I found out Sauron himself produced this heartless series full of inaccuracies, politics, and the feeling of murky faux “optimism” slowly turning into drowning in evil. as the running theme. Not at ALL like the books or the movies. Can’t stand this show, and won’t be pirating it again.

Amazon is full of it. My 1 star review was also rejected for breaking the guidelines which is complete bullocks. This seriously reduced my trust in amazon and I begin to question other product reviews on its site. If Amazon is financially motivated to alter or reject honest reviews and has shown to do so, why rely on any of its reviews?

Seriously, I am a huge Tolkien fan. Loved all the books. And the problem with the show is not the diverse cast(Disa is my favourite character in the show btw), not the changes from the original story, not the harefoot’s accents, not the costumes, but the poor writing and plot. Plain and simple they did not have good writers who wished to delve more into the lore and the characters, but instead tried to keep all the typical fantasy troupes. It’s just a poorly written show, they spent too much money on acquiring the source material and on the sets that they left no money to write good stories.

This is my first time seeing the "tempest" line. That's one of the cringiest things I've ever seen, both in terms of dialogue and acting. I almost collapsed inward into a small black hole. Oh, I mean "hole of color."

They should have created their own fantasy and removed any Tolkien ties and names and tried to make it on their own. It's so pathetic and insulting they needed the Tolkien name attached to this to have marginal success. Let's hope they cancel it after this.

I knew exactly where this was going when they showed young kid Galadriel being a "girlboss" by immediately assuming a fighting position on top of a boy who bullied her. Such Elven much wow.

My favourite scene is when Galadriel is riding a horse in slow motion while looking for a toilet because She is no longer constipated.

Double standards with some people are off the charts. The same people who says no one care about diversity in fictional characters based on European mythology also threw a massive tantrum when people wanted to add diversity to Wakanda. You don't need to inject yourself into everything because no one is that important.

Does it seem intentional to anyone else that some of these writers and directors are intentionally setting out to ruin things that a majority of people (of all races, colors, and creeds and orientations) once loved? Or do I give them far to much credit and they are as inept as they truly seem?

Funny how they always feel the need to say “This is fake” but also “It’s really important that there be representation in this.” Why do you care if it’s just “a fake thing”?

Watched the first episode of Cringes of Power, turned it off and never looked back. Some of us are tired of being hit over the head with cringy woke politics, handed down from privileged Hollywood Overlords with a predilection for divisive race & gender-baiting and sexualizing children. i just don't really care about the race swapping and crap anymore, but the thing that is unforgivable in this show is Galadriel. During the second episode where she bitches to the numenoreans that she WILL go to middle earth... My son turns to me and says, "why did they make Galadriel so unlikable?" You know what really bothers me when I see this show? The dialogue feels completely wrong. They use mostly modern English with a vague attempt to sound old. But if you watch LOTR you will notice everyone has a way of speaking. It's hard to describe but it is so immersive. This show doesn't have that at all.

Having numenoreans talk about elves stealing their jobs is the dumbest thing they could have done.Instead of their jealousy over the immortality of elves, or resentment at not being allowed to go near Valinor, or fear of death and sickness, it's jobs that everyone hates elves for.Elves have no interest in taking people's jobs, elves have their own realms and own cities, they have no need to go to Numenor.It's clearly Amazon americanising things by making Numenor into America hating immigrants.
