It doesn't have to be big to be beautiful! Alyssum is a teeny edible sweety in the mustard family. You might really enjoy learning more about it! It's often mistaken with the common "baby's breath." Those two plants, although similar in appearance, are actually in entirely different families!
(Baby's breath: caryophillaceae Alyssum: brassicaceae)
Lots of people use alyssum to "bulk up" their garden arrangements.
It's a really great option for partnering with your spring bulbs that can fade away quite quickly. With enough water and healthy soil, alyssum can grow into a gorgeous, dense carpet of tiny flowers!
One of my favorite things about Lobularia Maritima is that it enjoys close company. It has a very shallow root system, and as a result can be planted closely to other plants, creating a very full look whether it's in a container or straight in the ground.
Has anyone ever bought the apricot color that I mention in the video? I've seen photos, but I've never been able to find seeds or plants at the garden center. It seems like that hybrid is coveted!
