As I'm filming this I'm literally getting ready to spend the weekend kayaking and swimming at the lake. I can't wait- but I'll totally be packing my saline and some qtips to keep my piercings happy while I'm there.

coming back to this video after just having done a plankton tow and water quality measurements at the beach yesterday and multiple times the past few weeks. you really shouldn't swim in the ocean with a fresh piercing yall... there's a LOT of zoo and phytoplankton in the water that are essential to life in the ocean but would not be nice on your fresh piercing. not to mention all the water quality parameters like pH, salinity and nitrates as well as suspended sediment in the water that could get into the piercing channel. be smart about swimming in the ocean!

I have a 1 week second earlobe piercing and on Saturday I have a crossfit inhouse games which will require me to swim, what can I do cause I really don't want to miss out😢

How long before I can go swimming in freshwater? I just got a nose piercing and my husband and I are planning a trip to slide rock in September and I just realized I might not be able to swim 🤦🏽‍♀️😭

This was a very helpful video for my nose ring but maybe I just wasn’t paying attention enough but what about my septum? I got it pierced 2 weeks ago and I’m going to a water park 2 weeks from now am I doomed or is there any tips and tricks for me to still enjoy the park without fear of my septum getting infected

im planning to get my nose pierced on my birthday, which is in summer, can i put a waterproof baindaid ontop of it in case i do go in the water? i usually dont put my head in water because my hair is curly and it always get tangled but in case water gets on my face is that safe?

you totally can (i dont suggest longer than 2 hours)! just make sure to clean the piercing after.

I love swimming and I just got a peircing will my peircing stop me from ever swimming again? Is it dangerous? Should I let my peircing close? Is that better for swimming?

What if I go swimming in a lake then when I get back home clean my piercing with alcohol to clean out any bacteria then saline spray to rehydrate it?

This would be an incredibly unsafe plan.

@@Sushi_boi0 alcohol can damage the sensitive tissue of a healing wound. While it is true that it can stop germ activity in a wound, it can also irritate the skin when applied. The use of alcohol often induces/increases swelling and also tends to cause an intense burning sensation. Sometimes an irritation thats formed from using alcohol on a piercing gets mistaken as an irritation from a different source, which can make troubleshooting difficult. Beyond that, alcohol can cause severe dryness to the skin. It’s widely suggested to avoid them in your toners, moisturizers, and masks so why would we put it on our piercings? I have a whole blog post on my website about the dangers of alcohol.

Is it weird that I feel like pools help heal my piercings? Something about the area drying out gets rid of any irritation bumps or secretions. Maybe that’s just me and it’s actually making it worse

We’ve had so many people book navels and nipples and kids lobes this summer and 90% are either cancelled or rescheduled because of not being able to swim. Of the 10% who keep the appointments, 9.8% are aokay not swimming or keeping that part out of the water. 0.2% still swim and they they come back with irritation 🙄

Ok so like I really want a belly button peircing but I'm a swimmer so do you have like I time limit I would have to wait? Also after that time would I have to use a like water proof patch?

@@Rozy727 my shop recommends at least 2 months before you submerge in pools, lakes, or bathtubs. After that time you don't need any covering, it will typically be healed enough on the outside that bacteria cannot get into the inside of the healing piercing.

Me: wanting to go to beach after 2/3 weeks after cheek piercing, knowing it's not healed I'll try my best to make the waterproof bandage work aaaa

Oh no please do not try that on cheeks and please don’t go to the beach with them that early!!! Cheeks are such difficult healers and infection risks are far more serious with them. :(

@@RoronoaZoro-ii3ig if you must go I would not get in the water and consider a gentler physical covering to minimize sand- like wearing a mask! This can also help protect against sunburn.
