Giiirrlll i have tried stretching and re-stretching my ears since I was maybe 16 (I'm 23 now) and have only ever used stainless steel tapers and eyelets with o-ring grooves. NO WONDER IT NEVER GOES WELL 😭😭 as I grew up more, I kept watching more and more safety videos and tried my best to follow everything but I don't think I've ever heard this much detail from anyone about the type of jewelry I should be using. Thank you so much for this! I've been having the urge to try again since it's been over a year with nothing in my lobes and I feel a LOT more confident this time. 💞

My piercer was so so thorough with measurements and making sure I'd be happy with my bridge, she made sure i knew that a lot of the time most peoples faces are more expressive on one side! So my right side was moved very slightly to account for the fact i am very expressive on the right side!

I think what you said at the end was very important; a piercing is a deliberate wound, ofc it´s gonna be difficult to heal. By putting in the jewelry the healing process is interupted. The body wants to close the hole and can´t! So it´s really not that weird to have some complications I think :P (not a piercer or medical professional)

I’ve been attempting to learn as much as I can when it comes to this industry for years now, so when I was offered an apprenticeship at a studio near me last year, I was delighted, although I only was there for 2/3 weeks basically working a full time job unpaid, I soon realized that was not right besides not liking how unprofessional and unsanitary the studio was it was just overall so disappointing and sometimes I wish I did something sooner because I don’t know how many people they’ve offered unpaid “apprenticed” it’s just so frustrating and unfair to people who genuinely love this industry and are trying to get into it

Awesome video, Lynn! Thanks for sharing. Curious about an alternative to stretching, if you know that's what you want from the beginning, would piercing it at 12g or 10g and bypassing the stretching steps be something possible? Or because of the more nuanced nature of this mod, would it make it more stable to start small and build it up?

I cannot tell you how many times I’ve watched this video I’d say like 12x in the past year. I don’t have my septum pierced (yet) but I made an appointment with my local piercer next week to get a 10G septum so once it’s healed , I can start stacking. I saw LeRoi has affordable gold seam rings and I’m super excited to start stacking once I get it!

It’s just a way for religious fundies to push their values on the rest of us. And of course the entitlement men feel to comment on the appearance of women in any and all situations: “girls with piercings are for recreation only, wouldn’t date a woman with such and such piercing,” etc. I like having a facial piercing because it literally scares off the type of person that I don’t want around me.

Thank you so much for this video! I really wanna wear some big stones in my vertical philtrum and my piercer recommend stretching to a 12g and I’ve had it stretched to a 14g for a little under a year now but I really wanted to know more about the process. This was super helpful, there were a few risks I didn’t know about but I have always understood this is a permanent mod. Thank you so much again, I absolutely love the larger bead on my 14g and I can’t wait to stretch to a 12g one day :)

The difference between a 14 and 10 gauge isn't even a full millimeter. While those tenths of a military can be consequential, it's hardly a stretch. I thought we were talking about something more than that here, like 6 mm. Show me the 6mm stretched vertical labret! 😂
@Lynn_Loheide
@Lynn_Loheide 4 күн бұрын
@@jasonford6595 that large in a vertical labret on most anatomies would split the lip and cause pretty serious damage. Some people could stretch like that safely but it would be super risky. With these sorts of placements you are very limited in size. That said even small stretches are still stretches and still valid!

@@Lynn_Loheide You're right, I was being facetious, mostly lol! I totally feel you on getting quality larger gauge jewelry too. My nostrils are at 12 gauge right now and I'm always looking at ways to stay cute and quality while stretching them without having to use glass plugs, which I love for lobes but not so my nostril stretch. I also complicate things by wearing an entirely black set up, so I go for niobium a lot and black glass...

I recently started stretching my vertical philtrum after having it for two years. My piercer did an excellent job and it’s the most stable piercing I have, even after the channel stretched a bit from getting caught on basically everything. I just have such an overwhelming urge to eventually stretch every piercing I get. It’s fun but also stupid 😅

I wish I found this channel when I first got pierced because I was mislead with the info I found about stretching a few years ago. I used acrylic tapers and acrylic plugs all the at to like 00g then stretched up with silicone plugs and only waited 4 weeks in between the larger sizes. It was so chaotic. I’m currently downsized to the smallest my ears will go and am massaging with jojoba and vit e every day 2 times and using stone and glass to dead stretch every 3-6 months.

I know I am super late to the video, but I am so curious how this piercing would be different than a smiley in terms of gum erosion. I feel like they would rub just as much, but I am assuming because we have the softer lip on the outside the jewelry rests in there more comfortably. Is this line of thinking accurate? Thank you for this wonderful video by the way, this really breaks everything down super well, so I can easily understand the risks!

it's very comforting hearing this from a piercer. i've definitely made the mistake of getting more piercings than my body could handle before, all close together, and also at a time when my habits weren't super conductive to good healing. it definitely sucked, and i ended up giving up on those piercings, but i think it was a really important learning experience for me, and healing now, one at a time, carefully, has been significantly smoother as a result. as always, really nice hearing that sort of honest discussion of important piercing topics from you 💛
