This is a great video! I always tend to feel a bit guilty when I hit up my piercer with yet another question, especially when they answer out of office hours! But this is a great reminder that the guilt is not necessary. More videos on this topic would be great! And love the outfit :D Love from the Netherlands

I’m so glad I found a piercer whose good with troubleshooting. Had constant issues with my vertical helix orbital (which flared up again as my cat decided to smack me) and after weeks figured out it was about 0.2cm chunk of hair that was curly (my hair is straight) behind my ear and was getting caught in it at night. Bumps gone in a week after that 🤣

Omg yeah orbitals are sooooo much work to heal. Honestly half the battle is troubleshooting and working with a good piercer.

@@Lynn_Loheide it’s as you said about the daith, a little 💩. But almost there now- at month 8 so it’s pretty close to being fully healed and I can’t wait for that day to come as I’ve got a beautiful BVLA piece for it being made

This is literally so helpful, my conch is 13 months old and it still is red and irritated. I went to my piercer multiple times but she just said to clean it, which I did, I still have a bump and I’m going to visit another piercer.

This makes me feel like this Instagram posts I've been seeing of befores and afters of piercings with bumps where they put on a big flat o-ring type thing between the bump and the piercing and then have an after pic where its magically gone are mostly a scam!

hi lynn, i would love to be a piercer when im older (16 years old bday oct 8 2005) and i know i cant get an apprenticeship until i am 18. Ive read the piercing bible and religiously study piercing videos, binge watch piercers, and research as much as i can. What else can i do to benefit my future?
@Lynn_Loheide
@Lynn_Loheide 2 жыл бұрын
A- ditch the piercing Bible. It’s out dated, Incorrect, and written by someone transphobic! B- I’d learn about the industry history and also take classes in school that would be relevant to a future apprenticeship

Unfortunately, this isn't the case everywhere. In my country, piercers can apparently be found liable if they give 'medical' advice after the piercing is done. This means that they can perform the piercing and tell you what aftercare to use, but once you walk out of that shop, you can't come back for troubleshooting. The moment you have a problem, piercers have to direct you towards a doctor, even if they don't want to. This sucks for multiple reasons, but also bc I had my rook done (first cartilage) 6 weeks ago and I'm not sure what is going on with it. But I can't go to my piercer due to these laws, and my GP is a conservative *ss who will just tell me to take it out. So now I don't know what to do. How funny that a law supposed to protect people getting bodymods actually makes it so they don't reach out when things go wrong.
@Lynn_Loheide
@Lynn_Loheide 2 жыл бұрын
That’s terrible!!! What country is this if you don’t mind my asking? That law seems incredibly unfair for both piercers and clients!
@anika1883
@anika1883 2 жыл бұрын
@@Lynn_Loheide The Netherlands. It does seem to depend per piercer though, as there is that gray area between 'just looking at something' and 'giving medical advice'. Some piercers will officially tell you that you need to go see a doctor whilst also sort of telling you what you might be doing wrong when you have a problem, to circumvent that law a little bit, but most piercers, especially those who work in smaller studios, don't want to risk it. If something actually turns out really bad, they might be faced with a high fine. I understand they want to regulate these types of things, as bodymods tend to be under little regulation, but in this case I think it's a little far.

Im glad that I stumbled across your video, what’s the website of jewelry that you’ve ordered from? I’m allergic to nickel and have been struggling with my nipple piercings. There’s always one bump after the other one is gone and it’s FRUSTRATING.

This is reminding me of nursing school, we have didactic learning but there’s a huge hands on aspect. We only spend 4 hours a week in lecture and almost 10 in lab and have to do check offs on how to do things.

What about bridge or eyebrow piercings for example? Given they're basically surface piercings and are likely to reject at some point even after being healed for a long time. I took out my bridge piercing cause it had a period of a few months where it was all good, but then it started getting bumps and seeping constantly, though it would fluctuate I didn't think it would go back to being completely fine, more likely to reject. What level of persistence would make sense for these kinds of piercings?
@Lynn_Loheide
@Lynn_Loheide Жыл бұрын
I actually JUST posted a blog all about why these can fall under the umbrella of surface piercings but why they often don’t and how anatomy plays a role in things like bridges and eyebrows healing and being stable that should answer a lot of your questions. This often comes down to anatomy, aftercare, and proper jewelry along with working with an experienced piercer.

How long do you give the changes to work and how long do you give for your instructions to work and improve. I feel like you can do too much stuff and make it worse.
@Lynn_Loheide
@Lynn_Loheide 2 жыл бұрын
You can absolutely do too much and make it worse. It all depends on the situation but usually anywhere between 3-13 weeks to see the effect of changes depending on the issue and the change needed. It’s very situational.
