Very informative and I am surprised that the Chinese one came out so good. However I would love to see a comparison of the usefulness of the Chinese set based on the fact that it perhaps has only 1/3 of the tools included. Is it possible to purchase additional stakes and anvils for the clone? Perhaps the included set is even more than adequate for the hobbyist watchmaker? (If I have nothing to worry about I’ll just run and buy one).

I've been thinking for a long time about whether I should buy this clone staking set. I had my doubts about the quality. But now that I've seen your video, the decision is easy for me. I will buy this clone set. Thanks for this helpful video.

I would take a vintage set all day. They made things way batter back then. They made things to last. Now things are made to be trashed

they made things to last, today they make things to last a fixed amount of years so that you will be forced to buy a new set every X years.. for cheap products I can understand but for very expensive tools this is just pure greed, if you sell a tool that costs $100 to produce for $1400, it should freaking last a lifetime.. your profit margin is already calculated into the massive price multiple times over

Very interesting and gives comfort as to quality but are there any stakes missing in what you get in the base set? Can other stakes be purchased if one you need is not in the base set.

I expect the vintage stakes to be hardneded at the business ends only. The butts of the stakes are not hardened, so they don´t break on impact of the hammer. The Chinese stakes might not be hardened at all...

Guy don't even know how to correctly pronounce "Bergeon" (one of the world's most known watchmaker tool manufacturers since decades) sell watch tools? I don't know if I can even take this review seriously.. now seriously... Bergeon....not BerGeRon (or whatever he says). pronounce it like this: BER - GE- ON (the "GE" in a french accent, like JE). I know pronunciation has nothing to do with watchmaking skills, but those who sell watchmaker tools should have enough experience with at least knowing their field good enough to correctly pronounce the professional terms.
