Come hit the road with HW as we head out to the spot where the British first stepped ashore in what the Europeans knew as New Holland, later New South Wales (so named by Cook) and finally Australia. Check out a few of the historic spots for Europeans and Australia's Indigenous people. Later snack packs (HSP's) for lunch.

Thank H.W.....a very picturesque video. I have been there a couple of times but am more familiar with the La Perouse area just across the Bay from Kurnell. I wonder if Cook could have imagined that remote bay later housing an International Airport just across the way and a city of over 5 million people. He certainly started something.

@@glenemma1 Yeh I’m the same. I don’t normally head into the Shire much. I reckon Cook might have thought it would always hold a settlement for the Crown. But yeh I doubt he imagined Kingsford Smith.

Hi HW, Love the video. I love nature and wildlife. The bush trail was beautiful and no buildings to ruin it. It is a shame that man have to destroy natural land and wildlife for them to have progress. My history knowledge is the same as yours, only remembering what you need to. What kind of animals live in the bush trail? Re-cap on Yorkshire's weather, still the same, rain, sunshine and clouds, and temperatures still low for summer. But hey, not complaining too much, we always need rain. Enjoy the weekend and thank you for inviting us on your bush trail. 🙏🇦🇺

@@carollizzi6494 Mostly small animals. Lizards, frogs, birds, bats, snakes on the bush trail. I’d say most of the action is in the water of the bay.

Hey! Great video HW! Love all the history! So I looked it up also and apparently Captain Cook explored that area for over 3 years going from spot to spot including Australia. Can't imagine being on a ship for 3 years exploring! Hey and here's a bit of our personal family History. After world war II Many of our family left Italy and the only place that would accept them was Australia and a whole bunch of them settled in Sydney! If you see them tell them I said hello lol. Have a great weekend. See you around!

L41 'Bout time you visited Gods country again ! I've been teaching my teenage daughter to drive, and she often drives us from our place to Kurnell. There is an interesting sculpture down on the rocks where you were standing at the beginning, near the new ferry wharf. It represents a combo of whale bones/ ships frame, and was done by an Aboriginal artist. I often come to Kurnell to fish off the rockwalls and beaches. Too bad you didn't grab a coffee...there's a great little surf- themed Cafe, further up towards the point. 🇦🇺👍 Jim.

Weird how Cook said 34°S and 208°W ..when when we know 180° W is furthest west ..the date was April 28th but it actually was with intro of International Date line April 29th ! The first time zones weren't enacted for 113 yrs after Cooks landing 😮

@hwtours he was counting backwards from England longitude..so Australia was at 208 and approximately 1/2 degree west of England 🇬🇧..but not accounting for the day change with occurs at 180° W/E ..so that number would be correct counting from England west to Sydney Australia 🇦🇺

Yea a prelude to colonization a very controversial man here down under and in the pacific despite his exploits and the scientific discoveries of Mr Banks. Of course his demise and untimely end in Hawaii explains in part a very interesting story about Cook. Nice one HW love the history especially the arrival of the settlers and acknowledging as always the First Nations of the land and their stories, the Dreamtime. 😊P
