My rabbit has not been eating and I am taking him to vet today, but just now I forced fed him successfully watching this video! I didn't have Syringe at home, but I had an empty hair dye bottle I never used and it worked perfectly!

This is a good demonstration of syringe feeding. This is a good bunny. I had mine for 10 1/2 years and syringe feed him due to gi stasis and having a malclussion that went undiagnosed. I had absolutely no reservations ony choice to put him down humanely. It got to the point where he had no quality of life couldn't stand up, couldn't eat or drink. He was the best pet ever!!!

You are a hero for rabbit owners. I am such a softy for rabbits, especially the babies. Keep it going and great work.

Very helpful! My rabbit was going through gi stasis last night and it was really hard to syringe feed him pineapple juice and water. This technique, pushing my chest on him as I hold his head (firmly but no too hard), worked quite well! It was still really hard to administer Simethicone still, he hates that stuff even though it’s orange flavoured! I massaged his abdomen quite firmly for 20 minutes or so and he started eating on his own again and was more energetic!! Granted he would only eat kale and pellets, so I gave him much much more than he would normally get. I also gave him his favourite chew (single use bowls made out of palm leafs) and a few hours later he was eating a bit of it but still preferred the kale. It’s morning now and he’s very energetic! A stark contrast to the lethargic bunny who was unusually hiding last afternoon. He’s destroying his chew bowl, eating a little bit of hay, a little bit of pineapple and most of his other greens he didn’t like as much as kale that he wouldn’t touch. Trying to book the vet today for a follow up just in case there are any underlying health issues, but I honestly think he was just dehydrated and since he was shedding so there started to be an obstruction.

Is it possible for the rabbit to just refuse to open his mouth even when I try to place the syringe in that side space? That's what seems to be happening to me, and most of the food or medicine just dribbles down the side.

I have a Flemish giant. She just had surgery and but her tongue in the process. It has been such a battle and now she bit her tongue off a couple of days after. I’m having such a hard time syringe feeding her.. she’s covered in blood and her tongue is swollen and a piece of it is missing. I’m so devastated. I’ve called around everywhere trying to get her into a rescue but nobody will take her. I don’t know what to do

Any tips for getting the mixture into the syringe? Im having no issues getting her to eat it but the loading into the syringe is unbearable, and the syringe doesnt just suck it up as one might imagine..

both my five year old netherland dwarfs have stopped drinking (both are still eating normally). I've been syringe feeding them water. Dose anyone know how much I should be giving them?
