Sorry to say but he was terrible. Ha made quite a lot of mistakes and compared to other competitioners, he sounded like an elemetary school kid playing piano.

Anonymous what an ignorant thing to say. Chopin himself said that what matters is to play with the heart and not without mistakes which matters💔 Nehring can play with his heart and not like machine gun which is for many others even winning prizes.

@@classichistorian5049 What a moron thing to say. He sounded like am elementary student and didn't have that feeling either. Maybe only you polish can feel the "heart" but to all foreigners, he sounded terrible. He was a total desaster. He was very lucky to participate in that competiton. You need to listen to actual music and don't put any patriotism into it. He sounded terrible. Even I can play better than him. :p

Luke, we often disagree. I have, however come to listen fully to your point of view. In this case as Szymon began to play, I thought his opening tempi much too slow. They were. they had to be for his interpretation. His performance was simply brilliant. You are correct, and I do agree with every word you wrote, and more. Mark it down. :)

People would say the same about any winner. I agree that Szymon's interpretation was exceptional and personally I prefer it over all the other interpretations. I also had the chance to hear him play this live one year after this competition took place and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

+Richard Deschenes Seconded by me, now live and work in silicon valley, but also have been playing the piano for 25 years, used to win provincial championships in China when young (had to give up pianist as profession due to tiny hands). Szymon is at least on par with Cho, and this is the best rendition of this concerto throughout the competition. Perhaps Szymon made too many distracting mistakes in earlier rounds which made him far away from getting any award. Still, my favorite guy throughout the event.

+Cen Peng Nice to meet you, and yes, I agree with your statment although on the personal level, my favorite Artist is Aimi Kobayashi, who I believe was in the same situation as was Szymon and Dmytri where I find that judges were particularly unfair to these three. They received scores of 1/10; 2/10 and 3/10 more frequently than others who were in my opinion no greater talents but who might have simply had better days if not greater favouritism throughout the competition. Szymon and Aimi have played beautifully and in my opinion, they both reached resonance with the heart of Chopin in the most absolute way. I agree on Cho's gold medal since he is a fabulous pianist and has clearly demonstrated his outstanding Ability, however if the other Artists had benefited of equal judicious judgment, I truly believe the first row would have been much different than it ended up being.

So true. I discovered him today through this video and I think he is spellbinding. He is an incredible artist. I think he is better than Canadian winner from a week ago.
