First day in the high mountains and everyone knew Pogacar was going to attack. The question was, who could answer? Considering Vingegaard was injuries leading up to the Tour, we all agree that being down only 50 seconds is a victory of sorts. Remco also proves that he’s a potential podium candidate.

It's clear from stage 4 that the biggest problem Jonas Vingegaard faces is Visma not having Sepp Kuss and Wout van Aert being far from 100 percent. Meanwhile, UAE has so much firepower they didn't even bring Brandon McNulty. And the whole team, Pogacar included, finally seems to be working together and all in to win. Visma needs to step up and support Jonas better or they will have trouble finishing on the podium. You heard it here first.

over the years, this pod has expanded, and increased in level of quality. Putting out this level of content isn't free...there are all kinds of costs that we don't see or aren't aware of (insurance, attorneys, power, set, personnel etc.) and none of it is free. And, we shouldn't expect the on-screen personalities to work for peanuts, nor the many who are off-screen that make this happen. So $$ has to come from somewhere. They could have a paywall, so that no one who doesn't pay doesn't get to watch. or they can offer tiered levels (which they do) but for non-subscribers, there will be ads, like I said, the $$ gotta come from somewhere. Perhaps one of the 23 dislikes here are youtuber content creators too, but I'm guessing not or at least not at this level.

Except that riding with a wrist that is healing from a complicated fracture is much more complicated than what Jonas had. I know a couple of my mtb friends that broke collar bone and ribs and they were able to ride rough terrain in just a couple months, but I crashed and not even broke my wrist, just overextended it an maybe cracked something and it sometimes still hurts under pressure even though it's been almost 2 years now. Yeah, nobody wants to talk about that and how Jonas and Wout attacked Tadej on the descent when they saw him shaking his wrist. Such a scu m b@g move.

@@davesingh9166he totally is, the whole Visma. It was super obvious in 22 and 23 Tour. A Danish guy on stage 4 told Porino how they raced together as juniors and that Jonas was below average and was always getting dropped. Ffwd when Visma takes him and he's a champion. Same, they took Roglic and he became a champion. They took Wout from a completely different discipline and he's now a sprinter that can climb. Ridiculous! Plus they have Laporte winning races and had other guys on top in 22 and 23 Tour and now Jorgenson, a fresh champion. All dopping.

Hi from Denmark. Just wanted to let u all know, that Jonas said to Danish TV. Visma expected up to the Tour, that Jonas was -2 min down from Pogacar after stage 4. He also commented on he´s teams performace today, and told the press that, "hey, were all humans and can have a bad day, but of course it´s something we need to debate amongst each other". He has been very honest from stage 1, that he didn´t know for real, how this first week would go? After stage 4, he´s 50 sec behind Tadej, and frankly to be honest, i´m sure Visma is ok with that. But yeah, Jonas looked pretty beaten up, efter the finish line. But everybody did, even Pogacar. What a craxy speed up that mountain. Remember, the Tour is far from over, and we all know that, Jonas is best in the last week. Also the 2 TT, we gonna see some other gabs between the GC contenders. Damn`the World is lucky, to still have this battle going on, and i´m sure everybody here would love to see them race to the Finish. Cheers from Denmark & Viva le Tour

Thanks to a Dane who ousted Jonas unintentionally during the live stream of the race we can now be sure that your Jonas is a cheater and I'm sure Lance knows it too, but can't say it. The Dane explained to Porino on the side of the road that him and Jonas raced for local teams and that Jonas was always below average rider who would always get dropped but then after he was 18 suddenly got really good. 😂😂😂 The guy didn't even realize what he told us. He was just so happy he knew Jonas from their racing teenage years. Priceless. Truth will come out sooner or later.

@@shadowsun33Geeeez. How well do you think it usually goes for 58 kg tiny climbers competing as juniors in pancake flat windy rainy Denmark against the types of Mads Pedersen and Asgreen? You guessed it (hopefully), they don't win a thing. What happened once Jonas started improving and winning races? He was tested on mountains and started racing in his own terrain. Got the coll de Rates KOM and was quickly picked up by Visma who saw huge potential in him. And to add to this even more, in 2017 he broke his femur in a near career ending crash in Norway, where he was off the bike for around 9 months halting his development. So perhaps before making unfounded allegations, you might do your research a little bit.

And all other friends of mine who were champion material and the rest I raced with, many just like Jonas never got constantly dropped like Jonas. Thank you for reminding folks like me just how damn dangerous that descent was. Watching on tv, absorbed in the growing time gap, it just didn’t occur to me that there was no guard rail and that, especially up high, a guy who goes off that road is going to plummet a very, very long way. I ride, I’ve done scary, fast sketchy descents, but the sudden awareness of their mortal danger thanks to your commentary is something I’ll keep with me the rest of the race, and that’s the kind of former pro insight that’ll keep me coming back to this pod.

Firstly, huge fan of the show. I wish you guys did a show everyday of the year lol. Going back to Jonas being only 50 seconds behind so far is impressive. He himself said after the race today that he and his team expected to be atleast 2 minutes behind or more. he even added that his time will come. I believe his time will come on plateau de Beille, Cime de la bonnette, Isola as these climbs suit Jonas more and the last time trial. I wanted to add so far Remco has been impressive, proving many people wrong including myself. Huge Rogla fan but he has been disappointing so far - could be the crash at the tour de basque and also crashing twice at the dauphine adding to this crazy hard start of the tour. Hopefully he doesn't crash again and can find some momentum in the remaining stages.

Remko is doing amazing, showing some real maturity, he may have a chance at the podium. I am a Pog fan, if you watch last year, Pog was doing this to Vin last year after an early bad stage. My worry is that Pog needs to be smart and efficient to have a chance of winning in the end. He finally has the best team which might be the difference, but I fear Vin will start taking TT time and crack Pog again. Saying Vin is not 100% I think is wrong, Pog better this year, Vin nearly held him and Pog dropped him 3 times last year. Preying for a Pog victory but if I were a betting man, I think Vin may still come out on top. Gonna be fascinating, please Pog prove me wrong, you are the greatest all round cyclist full stop and the best ambassador for sport, love Pog. ❤

Pogi (healthy) will crack, Jonas (not so healthy) will miraculously improve and get to the 2023 otherworldly level....and will also pull off a strange time trial performance all over again!

Let’s just remember that on April 17 Jonas left the hospital after collarbone surgery with a cast, and a lung that was still healing. Here 11 weeks (76 days) later he is somehow able to drop all the other best riders in the world and it takes Pogi (who has dominated the entire season) a massive attack to even shake him off his wheel. If Jonas is somehow able to ride away from Pogacar in the last week of the race, I will be more than a little suspicious.

@@karstenprehn6941 to me (again this is all opinion) this is another argument that every tv pundit and analyst has been making which further drives my point. No other rider, in modern era, or in history gets stronger in spite of fatigue in the third week of a grand tour stage race. If anyone can provide me with one other example of this, that would be great. The human body will not develop and get stronger when it is constantly being diminished and burned down stage after stage with only 2 rest days for three weeks. If Jonas is stronger than he is now in the third week, there is an inhuman explanation.

This is exactly what UAE planned to do from day 1. That’s why all the climbers on the roster. They aren’t gonna attack him much or at all. Anywhere it will count to attack him he will have teammates. in order to attack him Jonas will do it alone but UAE will take Visma away from Jonas and isolate him and just keep hurting him. It’s their only hope that Jonas isn’t 100%. I’ll agree though, man he looks better than I thought he would be. Roglic is gonna come back I think. But UAE is so strong for now.

One thing I’ll say is: You guys keep saying that Vingegaard will get better as the race goes on…I’m not so sure about that. He’s spent a lot of energy chasing just two of Pogacar attacks. If anything he’ll be destroyed by week two. He looked like he was suffering today.

Exactly. I don’t understand their logic at all. George is nothing but a JV a apologist. Pogacar has the stronger team, theoretically he doesn’t have to work as hard, but if JV has to respond to attacks, how does it necessarily make him stronger in the last week. JV suffered today.

@@Nyelands Last year has no bearing on this one. You are making lots of assumptions about JV getting back to the level of last year’s tours & Tadej regressing to last year. Not likely. As for 2 years ago, Tadej had a bad day, particularly strategically against the Jumbo juggernaut & lost the Tour. Not going to happen this year. Last year Tadej had to play catch up & expended too much energy to try & get even (energy that he didn’t have in reserve). This year, JV has to play catch up with a team that is lacking. Vingegaard is carrying injuries that may have "healed" and he may have silenced the doubters.. but the Tour is race of attrition and I would think that biologically as the weeks drag on those injuries are going to complicate his recovery. I worry that we are looking at his track record from 22/23 as an indicator for this year and we have the hardest climbs in the third week . Also team dynamics have clearly changed. In past years Vingegaard had a clearly superior team that was able to isolate Pogacar in the mountains with Visma riders surrounding him. The tables have turned in that regard. It was 4 or 5 UAE swarming around Jonas.

The way I see it is that Jonas is less confident on the descents might be due to his accident. Same story which happened last year with Tadej. But Jonas will be getting stronger in the weeks to come while Tadej will be getting more tired. This should even out the battle. I am sure Tadej will try to attack more and more on the downhill section instead of trying to drop Jonas on peaks. Mountain finishes will be really close. Time Trials will be in favour of Jonas. This is where he will try to gain maximum of time. But I am curious to see how Remco will keep up.

You're clearly blind. Jonas lost confidence in descending. You must be fresh to cycling. Watch stage 2 and go study apex and what that even means. Then rewatch stage 2 and you'll see Jonas apex is super choppy compare to Tadej's apex. Tadej had to brake excessively while behind Jonas and almost hit him on occasion or two. Tadej rode that descent on stage 4 like a true master while Jonas was riding very scared put under pressure to prevent losing time. His apex was all over the place, so he had to worth much harder to maintain the speed.
