I can only hear it with noise-cancelling headphones and the volume set painfully high anyway, and it's much quieter than the background hum of your PC. Could be an age thing though

@@byron-ih2ge They are Iranic. But there are many “uzbeks” in Tajikstan and uzbeks are Turkic. You could say Tajikstan is a fusion between Iranic and Turkic culture, even the way people look can be Persian or Turkic(Mongoloid) depending on the person.

At 7:50 he was referring to Tommy Caldwell, climber of the dawn wall. He was kidnapped in Kyrgyzstan and ended up having to kill a dude to escape.

Yeah, Caldwell had to push his kidnapper off a cliff-face to escape. He spent years thinking that he'd killed the guy but later discovered that he was still alive. This is covered in the excellent _Dawn Wall_ film. For anyone that hasn't seen that, go check it out. Right now. The guy that Tom almost named right is Alex Honnold, who is a climbing partner of Caldwell's, and whose film _Free Solo_ won the Oscar for Best Documentary a few years ago. Also well worth a watch!

I think you are seriously overinterpreting what he meant. If you look at the sporcle map the Gaza Strip looks a lot bigger than in reality and is even touching the West Bank I think. Given that I am 100 % certain that he doesn't deny the existance of Israel as a state.

You know you can skip to the biggest countries to establish some sort of scale or grid at least? Like, start with Russia, China, India, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Indonesia, Philippines, Japan, South Korea, Turkey, all the countries so big you basically can't get wrong by just clicking smack dab in the middle of them, or with a distinct geographical landmark, then go on to the smaller ones and work your way down to the impossible ones

7:33, if you were wondering the climber was Tommy Caldwell who was abducted, there's a great movie about one of his climbs called "The Dawn Wall" that briefly mentions it. He actually has to push his captor of a cliff in order to escape. He's had a pretty crazy life.

hell yeah, more sporcle! JSYK you can shut the clock off before you start by clicking "timer" and setting it to stopwatch. Also its the "minefield" quizzes that stop you when you get one wrong. Most of those are in a big playlist so you should be able to find the minefield and/or no skips versions there.

Tom you should fiddle with the gain on your Blue Yeti, there is a very high pitch whine which apparently is quite common with that mic.

Great job! I like to do these kind of Sporcle quizzes so that I use the Next button a lot and first do the countries I'm sure about - those then usually help me with getting the rest. Doing it the way you did it, without using the Next button - that's the cool thing. I only managed to do Europe and South America this way...

Yeah I'd say it's more of downgrade tbh. He went from a sm58 to blue yeti, why not just upgrade to a sm57 or even sm7b. And if he doesn't want the mic in frame he should rather get a shotgun mic. Anything is miles better than the damn yeti..
