If you're like most BJJ practitioners, you learned some form of a stack pass very early on as a White Belt. And for good reason. It's a strong guard pass that puts a lot of pressure on your opponent.
But like many of the Brazilian Jiu-jitsu techniques we learn early on many people exchange the stack pass for something else because they feel the need for more advanced techniques.
Well, in today's video I'm going to show you how I use the stack pass in an "advanced" Black Belt way. This video is chock full of ideas and details that could be used for multiple positions. So, if you're attention span has been ruined by social media this may not be the video for oyu. But assuming you're up for learning how to take your double under or stack pass to the next level, then check the video out.
Enjoy the video. I hope it's helpful.

Dang. Three stripe 55 y.o. white belt and watching this makes me realize how much there is to learn. And, Chewy and Adam have forgotten more techniques than I have time to learn before I am put to sleep for good. Thanks guys! I'll keep going until my coaches stop teaching me.

Thank you so much for this video. It’s inspired me to go back to under passes, both double and single. The tips here helped me a lot today, especially how to beat them blocking by putting their hand on the hip. I’m a purple belt and it’s funny how things can make you feel like a white belt

Thank you Chewie and Adam for sharing this. Tried it today and ran into a fork on the mat. Q: do you recommend one knee center under their butt and the other leg stepping out to the side -or- the knee by the side butt cheek/hip as the other foot steps out? Thanks!

Hey Professor Chewy, awesome video, thank you so much for the multi-angle explanation about taking the back, I can't wait to try this out! I have two questions, one related to the video and one is more general in nature, I hope that's ok. 1) I have been trying the double under pass more often recently (I am a 2 stripe white belt), but I keep nearly catching toes or heels to the face when I try to shoot in. Should I being gripping their legs/feet for more control until I get the timing and opportunity recognition down? Also, on the other side of the coin this looks pretty difficult to defend against, will you be covering that in a future video? 2) This one is a bigger topic to me because it's so fundamental: spatial awareness. What's the most efficient way to develop this skill? When I see higher belts roll, they always seem to have a fairly accurate inventory of the opponent's limbs, it's almost instinctive for them. I, however, absolutely do NOT know how to maintain that inventory. Is it mostly an experience thing or is there something else I should be doing to develop this skill? Thanks for reading, have a fantastic weekend!

1. having hand contact with ankles/knees will negate that alot. just something you have to play with, in my experience. 2. spatial awareness just takes time and a lot of repetition. it's like driving a car. when you first start, it takes a lot of brain power to keep driving and change the radio. now it's like 2nd nature. hope these answers help, good luck!!!

Hey chewy man I have a question for you I have been pondering starting bjj or judo personally I prefer judo but bjj seems to be the shit but I'm a bit claustrophobic and I have a tendency to black out when I lose my temper so what I am asking is if I lose it is it safe to assume that a experienced roller will not break my bones ? I don't mind being in pain for a while I'm a fighter but don't need more broken bones. Cheers man love your content 👌

Great video, one question. Is there any concern for the defender to lock his legs around your head when you begin your entry? If so, how should one respond?
@badxradxandy
@badxradxandy 2 жыл бұрын
I got a brand new guy at the gym trying this on me because he thinks it's a submission, it's not, you keep going. If anything it makes it easier to pass because the defense would be to make your legs further apart and lower.

chewy, I'm a purple belt who usually goes for knee cut or back step passes. as I try to work lower passes like double under, under over etc I keep running into people stopping me with lapel grips. coming from a no gi background, I tend to lead with my head. any suggestions???

Hey Chewy, I'm 38 and started my BJJ journey 5 months ago. After each session my body aches every time for 3+ days. The feeling is similar to that when you train for the first time in a long time. Knees, ankles and wrists hurt too. This did not happen when I was boxing. Where should I start looking for solution? Is it likely to be nutrition? Does the body need more time to get used to it or am I getting too old for this? Thanks

Around @13:40 you mention you're shooting in for the double under, but you have 1 arm under & 1 arm over. This entry is typically not advised, due to potential triangle from guy on the bottom. Please clarify why this move is called double under & when is safe to use against someone who is good at triangles?
