Two years before Pierce Brosnan got the role of James Bond for the second time, I spoke to him about having to drop out from playing 007 in 1986. I interviewed him again on the "GoldenEye" press junket in 1995.

I agree! 100% Brosnan is the best looking Bond ever! Sure, Connery is the original, but Brosnan is the BOND.

Damn brosnan is smooth, charming and charismatic. With that hair and voice he was perfect fit for bond. I think he wouldnt have been a good Bruce Wayne/batman back in the day

Awww man. I would have loved for him to either be cast in "the living daylights" or even more so for him to make a 5th Bond movie . He made the best debut performance as 007 since Connery and he seemed very passionate here about being Bond ! miss him so much, Thanks for sharing this :)

The Living Daylights was perfect with Timothy Dalton. Much like Goldeneye was perfect with Pierce.

I’m on the opposite side of the fence. I would have loved to see Timothy Dalton do Goldeneye. I’m very disappointed his tenure was cut short.

@@yutopia7 mmmm well the finished product of Goldeneye is very different to what it was when Dalton was on board. But trying to imagine Dalton in the film we got.......well it would mean to me that his work on TLD and LTK would have been a waste as its a very different personae. BUT saying that, yes i would have loved for him to have done a 3rd movie for 1991/92, with those original ideas they had for him.check out 'Dutchbandfan' on that video. It would have been his 'Spy who loved me' :)

I really enjoyed Daltons tenure. Both his movies are in my top 3. I think it worked out perfectly. Goldeneye was an epic opener for Pierce. I couldn't imagine Daylights with Pierce, nor Goldeneye with Dalton. Just wouldn't have been the same.

@@Mark-lj1dj I see. Ive always defended TLD but LTK is a very polarising movie for me. Brosnans LTK would have been hugley different to what we got.

Really good to see the contrast. I think Brosnan would have gone on happily as an actor if he had never gotten to be Bond, but to see him get the role is absolute vindication. Do you have any additional interviews from Goldeneye, at all?

I enjoy all his Bond movies (yes, even Die Another Day), but its almost hearbreaking that he was unable to play the role with today's technology/filmmaking techniques... just trying to imagine Brosnan looking like he did in the late 90s starring in Skyfall for example... pufff... 'mindblowing'.

His Bond story worked out perfectly in the end. He was a bit too young in 87 and Dalton was fantastic in both of his. Goldeneye was perfect for his first appearance as Bond. Such a strong movie

Brosnan is the BEST looking BOND ever. James Bond was made for Pierce Brosnan! Daniel Craig is a joke. Craig was never a Bond. Craig made the movie like Jason Bourne. Jeez!

I think he still has it. Iv seen it on his wrist in photos. Just like the vanquish he had. He kept it for 20 years.

4:03 - Yeah, not anymore Pierce. That's one of the many many things they ruined over the course of the Craig era...before actually killing off James Bond in the most contrived, disrespectful and even plain pretentious way possible. Now they've sold off the franchise to Amazon Prime... A Broccoli family-run film series since 1962 renowned worldwide as something highly unique, special and with a certain bespoke special event quality to each film. Now...a bunch of sausage factory spinoff character, fourth wall trampling, badly acted, paint-by-numbers online streaming series. Shame on Barbara Broccoli. Her own father told her specifically before he died not to sell out the Bond films and not to let anyone change them too much... She did all of those things and more over the course of the last decade. She is now producing "woke" movies about black people and throwing tantrums that she hasn't won any Oscars for them. You know, because you make films about important social issues and oppression of people not to actually say anything worthwhile but to win awards and be praised for being "woke".
