The plaintiff says one of the defendant’s big dogs attacked her Lab mix, who was so badly injured she had to be euthanized. She’s suing the defendant for the cost of the vet bills. The defendant claims the dogs got into a scuffle but says both pets were fine.

I agree. The owner even said, she's an older dog. The injury didn't look life threatening. I think it was the shock and trauma of the attack that killed the poor dog. And the judge is right. Its NOT the Pitbull's fault. Its the OWNERS who don't control their dogs. My sister has 2 bullies. They are the sweetest dogs I have ever met. Very affectionate. But at the same time, the plaintiff should NOT have allowed her dog to join the Pitbulls if she felt it was not safe.

Unfortunately, I don't think the law in that state or perhaps even the federal laws regarding this sort of situation allow that to occur. In many cases - but not all - a judge's hands are tied by what the local laws state they can and can't rule. Hence why there is such an outrage when the public believes a criminal should get one thing, but the Judge rules something far less than expected by the public for the crimes that occurred. It's often not because the judge doesn't agree wholeheartedly with the public, it's because their hands are tied on some cases - again, not all. In saying that, there are some judges who do the opposite, they can issue far greater lengths of time but make the conscious choice not to due to their own particular biases and they do not take the actual law or the crimes committed into account.

The breed has nothing to do with it. I am glad the judge immediately said that it is not the dog but the owner. We have a neighbor’s lab mix that immediately attacks any other dog it comes in contact with and has come onto my property more than once and caused injuries (one requiring surgical intervention) to our dogs. We had to get the sheriff involved to make them control that dog! Meanwhile, we have a pit, a husky, a Great Dane/GSD mix, two beagle mixes, another shepherd mix, and a boxer mix that have never been aggressive but that are always controlled in some way by US because they are all our responsibility!!

It IS the dog. Pitbulls are bred to be attack dogs. That was their initial role. You mate an aggressive dog with another aggressive dog and the result is aggressive puppies. Then the most aggressive of those puppies are bred with other aggressive dogs. And on it goes. Pitbulls should be banned. They cause more deaths than all other breeds together.

As a pitbull owner, you've got to be vigilant in their care. They're animals and will behave as such. It's up to us to make sure they don't do this. If I feel like mine might be territorial in the presence of other animals, she gets muzzled. To believe your animal will not behave as such is not only ridiculous but how these situations happen.

I hated going to the dog park because I'm super introverted and didn't want to have to talk to anyone. Lots of dog owners don't seem to understand this, possibly because extroverts and more drawn to dogs and introverts to cats. I would wear headphones and pretend not to hear people, but they would tap me or whatever rude thing to get my attention. It was always the same questions to the point where I wanted to get a t-shirt made: NAME: Sonic AGE: Three BREED: Mutt If you tried to actually talk about anything other than dogs, which is not my favouritie conversation topic, they would get uncomfortable. So I can hear all about your dog's BMs and stories but if I ask you what you do for a living, that's too personal? Only owned a dog for the partner, who really wanted one. I ended up having to do most of the work. Since the dog was very sweet and charming (but way too smart and a rule breaker), it was okay, but never again.

Even if someone says their dog is super friendly, be cautious & don’t let any unknown dog near your dog. I don’t understand how pet parents of big dogs such as Pitt bulls can unleash their dogs in public or in a dog park. I have a Rottweiler & whenever I take him out for a walk, the moment I see someone is going to pass by, I pull shorten his leash, pull him close & hold him by his collar until the other person passes by. If you want to take your dog to the dog park, just put a muzzle on him so that he can enjoy himself without the risk of biting anyone or any other dog

"my dog got cut too!" Sir, two of your three dogs decided to rip the flesh off an elderly dogs legs, and puncture its scruff/back, and side. No one really cares if one of your two dogs who were attacking got a little boo-boo while viciously attacking another dog. Those dogs clearly have behavioural issues and if their issues are due to his poor leadership then he needs to have them taken off him until he's undergone extensive training on dog ownership, if it's because of past trauma issues these dogs have then they should NEVER be in allowed in a community dog park and should have to wear a harness and muzzle that wants others that they can bite unprovoked. I don't think they should be put down, but I do think they should get appropriate training as should he, or their next owners.

Worked in the animal care field for 5 years and I dealt with several pitbulls and other "dangerous" dogs. Only got bitten once (by a dog) and it was a freaking mini dachshund. The meanest dogs I've ever encountered were small dogs, which is why I don't want one. Much rather have one of those "dangerous" dogs that, even tho traumatized and frightened, were still gentle. I was also trained in how to spot signs of dog aggression (S.A.F.E.R.) and how not to come across as domineering or aggressive towards dogs. Everytime I see Harvey just reach in to touch a random dog, I cringe, bc there's a proper way to approach unknown dogs and shoving your hand and face in theirs is NOT it. Your body posture and feelings, like fear, also plays a part.

Harvey is way too ballsy when it comes to dogs, but I'm not sure why someone would bring an aggressive one to a filming / interview booth of TPC. You dealt with dogs in stressed out situations. Another fact... pits are not the most aggressive breed. they dont even make the top 5 but 8 on the top ten. There is no reason to say all pit bull will attack as you're implying. As the judge said there's no bad dog just bad dog owners. The owner of these pit bulls were neglagent of taking proper care of dogs that had temprament issues stemming from how they were cared for before them. They should have known better and taken proper precautions. They didn't and the dogs were put into a situation they never should have been in. All dogs here suffered because of the actions of the defendant. Perhaps you were meaning to say those pits attacked and there's no argument there.

I run a rescue and I have many so called dangerous breeds that are the most gentle loving dogs you could be around, once they're removed from their horrible environment.
