Talk about Future Hopes in English [Advanced English Grammar & Vocabulary]

Learn to talk about future hopes in English without using the word 'hope.' Instead, use advanced-level English grammar and phrases to express nuance in your meaning.
Nuance creates more variety and personality when you speak so you can say precisely what you want.
When you think about this time next year, what are some things you HOPE to do or HOPE to accomplish?
You may be thinking:
- Hopefully, we’ll have the opportunity to travel abroad next year.
- I hope to travel abroad next summer.
- I’m hoping to travel to Japan next summer.
Look at those 3 examples again. We’re using three common uses with the word “HOPE.”
But you don’t have to.
Like my students, I know you want to gain confidence and fluency with your English skills. You want to express exactly what you want.
Doing so includes the ability to use a variety of language structures to express what you want, not just the obvious ones like using the word ‘hope.’
Today you’re going to learn 4 advanced-level structures you can use to talk about what you hope for in the future or what you expect should happen so you can be more flexible in the language.
Throughout the lesson, I’ll provide examples and at the end I have some opportunities for you to practice and perfect your skills.

Thank you for that lesson too. With any luck , my son will grow up to be a bilingual speaker. I trust that I practice to play the ukulele everyday will pay off to hold an own concert . I would think, the vaccine of COVID19 will show up its long term side effects by 10 ~30 years later. I would like to think after that pandemic, people will live easier and happier.

With any luck, my friends will celebrate their anniversary in Hawaii next summer. By this time next year, I should think that my English level of understanding and speaking will be higher. Hello dear Elzbieta! Wonderful examples here! It may have been a typing mistake but in the first example we can either use 'I will' (with a space between the words) or 'I'll' (the contracted form.) In the second sentence there's one little word missing "...that your brother ______ fully recover..." Do you know what it might be?

Hey Annemarie! I have a question for you. I often hear "I would like to think that...", but not "I should like to think that...". In this video at 8:18, your example sentence with "like to" also changed from "should" to "would". Is "I should like to think that..." used less often? Is there a difference in nuance between "I would like to think that..." and "I should like to think that..."? I found your lessons early this year, say a few months ago, and totally fell in love with them. Watching one of your lessons every morning has become part of my daily routine. Keep up the great work. Wonderful, Mary! I have the same hope. There are a couple of small changes to make here. "I would like to think that _____ this time next year we _____ all ______ allowed to come and go..." There are some missing words and a verb tense change. (HINT: We need a preposition and we need to change a verb to the future form.)

A question , is it a must to use a future tense to express hoping_in specific if I am hoping for something in near future like in the same day_ ?As I notice all the expressions you used here were in a future tense!
