I put a drop off blue loctite on all my field points and broadheads. Been shooting left fletch for years that way and never had a broadhead come loose. It's what works for me. Can't wait to try out this TOTA single bevel!

Great points - I always fletch with a right helical and go for it. As John Dudley demonstrated in one of his videos: left, right helical or straight fletched arrows all will fly the same with a properly tuned bow and correct spine.

Agreed! There are so many bigger things people should be worrying about such as form, spine matching, proper tuning/setup, the list goes on. Arrow clocking is not worth our time!

In all my 55+ years of archery I’ve learned vane clocking is NOT RELEVANT. Considering the very minute amount of single bevel it won’t override the control all the vane surface has over the shaft. Watch the Dudley video where he shoots different vaned arrows at the same target. At 77 yards all the will fit inside a 4-5” circle. Left offset,right offset, 1 1/2 to 3 degrees left and right. Doesn’t matter. I messed with stuff twenty-twenty five years ago and could never see any difference. Even with feathers on traditional bows.

Single bevels (generally) want to roll in the direction of the bevel. The combination between surface area, width, and bevel give the broadhead a specific roll rate. If you have consistent form, it doesn't matter if you go left or right offset. However, you should always match the bevel and offset.

While I totally agree that it has very little effect on arrow flight, slo motion footage has proven that an arrow clocking left and fletched with right helical takes a fair bit longer to begin clockwise rotation. It appears the arrow doesn't spin left and just flies straight untill the clockwise rotation begins.
@south_hunts_605
@south_hunts_605 Жыл бұрын
True but many of those videos were inconsistent because they weren't done repetitive with different vane offset/helical variations. In some results there was no flight correction of the arrow to be had, as you said the arrows seemed to fly straight... in either case left or right spin still occurs within a short distance off the riser. With all the talk about it POI still did not change.
@toothofthearrowbroadheads
@toothofthearrowbroadheads Жыл бұрын
There are a lot of factors that come into this but I do believe that if your spine is matched, and your nock fit is correct then you will see the vanes take over any clocking impact very very quickly. Spine matching should be a much bigger concern to archers than arrow clocking. Thanks for the take and for watching!

Why not just make a double bevel? Problem solved!
@toothofthearrowbroadheads
@toothofthearrowbroadheads Жыл бұрын
A great point, but the idea behind the single bevel is that is creates a superior wound channel to a double bevel because it continues rotation through an animal, essentially ‘drilling’ a hole through them. Double bevels stop rotating on impact and make a clean slice through

Highly doubt it would lose more energy by beginning to unscrew. In-fact it probably loses less energy. I like shooting left helical. Not a big difference between the two, but it's personal preference now since I'm OCD.
@toothofthearrowbroadheads
@toothofthearrowbroadheads Жыл бұрын
In order for the single bevel rotation through the target to work as effectively as possible, we need the arrows spin, the bevel, and the insert threading direction to all be working together in the same direction to help drive that clockwise rotation! We appreciate the insight and feedback, it all gets shared with the team no matter what! Thank you for watching and commenting!
@HuntsT
@HuntsT Жыл бұрын
@@toothofthearrowbroadheadswe all know energy cannot be created nor destroyed. Therefore in my opinion the resistance of the broadhead attempting to rotate the entire arrow through the body of an animal is much higher than if it is spinning freely on the end of the arrow and can rotate on its own. There should be zero difference in hemorrhaging since the rotating wound channel of the broadhead should be theoretically the same. Since there is less resistance to rotation less kinetic energy should be leached from the arrow and has the potential to create deeper penetration. I haven't tested it or ran calculations on it, just thinking about it as an engineer with dynamics and mechanics.
@YoureSoVane
@YoureSoVane Жыл бұрын
@@HuntsTIt's more about durability. To drive the spin, the weight pushes the broadhead forward while the bevel pushes to the side. If the broadhead is slightly unscrewed, it can strip the threads in the insert or on the head, or even just bend the head. If the resistance and weight drives rotation, and you assume that the animal provides resistance to the broadhead, you want the broadhead fully connected to the arrow to maximize rotation. Try drilling through something with and without putting weight on the drill. If you add weight, you cut faster. That's why drill presses allow you to press down beyond just lowering the drill to the material, because on tougher materials you'll never get through without the extra pressure. Without the weight of the arrow fully behind the broadhead, it'll just bind in the animal and stop until the arrow catches up, which will limit penetration and push the back of the arrow out of alignment with the point, further limiting penetration.
@YoureSoVane
@YoureSoVane Жыл бұрын
@@HuntsTIt should be rolling already, anyways. It's not like the arrow only starts to roll when it hits the animal. It's adding the new vector to the existing roll rate.

There wouldnt be half the items out there today, if they really worked. Bottom line, consumers drive what sells. I have shot the single bevel since it first came out with left helical, left spinning arrows and have had zero loosen because of it. If it’s a cost prohibitive thing, I get it. But if you’re just not gonna make a left bevel, for the sake of not making a left bevel, you’re missing out on extra sales. 85% of the items for sale right now are placebos. I wish you made a left bevel, but I’ll just keep shooting my right bevel, and be happy about it until you do. Lol.

I appreciate the feedback! Our stance on it, is that we would rather miss out on some potential sales and only produce what we truly believe to be the best option for bowhunters. Our opinion comes from in depth personal conversations with industry experts, and extensive testing. We understand that not everyone will agree, but it is important to us that we are doing our best to only put out products which we truly believe will make people more successful. Thank you for your feedback and support, regardless of our decision to not make the left bevel, it means a lot!

@@toothofthearrowbroadheads - I have been paying extra special attention to that after watching the KZfaq videos to make sure that wasn’t going to be something I’d have to contend with once my hunting arrows get tipped with the new heads. I can honestly say, I’ve not had one head loose. The penetrations been excellent, and in fact, I have to unloosing it down a little bit to take it off the shaft before pulling the arrow back through my targets.
