My point is just because real wins more titles does not mean they are a bigger club than Man Utd. Geography is the reason why Real have won so many Spanish titles and the same applies to Barcelona.

I can understand Simon Jordan POV.. In Asian Market, Man United is the biggest attraction.. To make it simple, look at it this way. They has not been relevant for 7 of the last 9 years, and Man United still the #1 Jersey sale, TV broadcast, most watch football club and advertisement. They don't have BIG BIG Names like Messi for Barcelona or Ronaldo for Madrid that time. I remember when LVG field out a team with just De Gea, Valencia, Lingard, Fellaini (recognize player), still had more Broadcast than Man City in the same kick off time. Lol I think this would be a better explanation to Simon Jordan's point: IF Man United had a success like what Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich or Man City had achieve this past decade.. Man United would be no match to other club.. And my review is based on Asian Market only..

Madrid on the other hand have built prestige from the bulk of their star players in their history already being at or near to their peak. United have had an academy graduate in their squad for every match they've played in the last 80 years or so.

Unless he understands the politics of that region and how he could fit into it he would be mad to go there. The pressure that he could be under there and still playing great football is hard for people to understand. Real have had brilliant players over the years and their football life has been a mess there because of the constant pressure and racism that is present in Spain. There is racism in the UK but it is not tolerated at a social level with most fans thinking that it is disgusting and are only interested in a footballers ability on the field and will forgive any wrong doings if they play well.

I’m Mexican and born and raised in the USA when I tell you that Real Madrid is bigger and more Iconic then United trust me they are and I grew watching CR7 Man United so when he went to Real Madrid I was just getting to realize that I loved Real Madrid more then United not because of CR7 but players like Guti, Higuain ,Ozil etc so yeah to this day I’m much more a Real Madrid fan and the fan base here in the USA is huge for Real Madrid I mean especially for Latin America

Simon's gone mad. In terms of financially, the only clubs that can match Madrid are Barcelona (historically not currently), PSG and City (currently). Whereas when it comes to history and prestige only AC Milan, Liverpool, Bayern, Barca, Man United are at that level and still Madrid trumps all of them in that regard.

Disagree. Players are prepared to leave UTD, Liverpool and Chelsea in their prime to go to Madrid. Players leave Madrid only when Madrid no longer want them. I don't like it....but when Barca or Madrid come calling....the big players nearly always end up going. Ronaldo, Beckham, Owen, Suarez, Coutinho, Hazard, Mascherano etc...

@@erickarias3309 and people don't realize that there are more benefits in joining Madrid than Man United as a player, one is the low Spanish Tax payment, the club concentrate so much in winning the UCL and make that their top priority every season, In fact, they prefer to win UCL and lose la liga, the lack of competition in la liga makes it very possible and relaxing to do so. AC Milan have more UCL trophies than Man United doesn't makes them bigger than Man United

Simon is usually the fountain of truth but this is a huge stretch. He's taking the brand/economic powerhouse angle but there's a problem there. To be a really top football brand, that means you have massive pull with international talent i.e. the best players in the world. Madrid is on top of that at the moment and Utd are far far off from attracting a player like Mbappe. Simon knows his numbers so maybe Utd still has some relative strength at the top but that seems to be neutralized by their poor management, which is what he referred to here. The longer they can't attract the biggest names around (not Antony, Sancho or Martinez, that's for sure) then they are a big club, but one that is in decline. For now, I'd say their behind Madrid, Barca, City, Liverpool, PSG, Bayern and Chelsea in terms of recruiting the top players and that's probably going to get worse with Newcastle and Arsenal surging...

In terms of attracting players, Man United under SAF for ages never had that pull in signing top talented players around the world (especially South America) and this was SAF was not willing to pay some massive figures to sign players both to agents, selling clubs, and players salaries. And there again, Madrid was dominant in signing South America players, because naturally, we all knew those players from Brazil preferred that Spanish destination do to some factors like weather, the culture, language etc than coming to England. And that advantage in destination for South American players helped build Real Madrid to where they are today and keeps on till date. Man United Arsenal, and Chelsea the then top clubs were looking out for players in Holland France Portugal.. Mean while Italian top clubs and Madrid goes over to America, and some crafty players didn't like the physicality of the EPL.

As a United fan this is not only laughable but deeply unhelpful. United are not going anywhere fast if us fans continue to buy into the false illusion that we are on the same level. Real Madrid are bigger and better in every conceivable way. They have 14 European cups, more domestic titles, more online followers (if you insist on going there) and it is no coincidence that all of our best players end up going there. They are the aspirational standard that United should be aiming for. But we are not on the same level. Continuing to ignore how far we are off the best teams is holding United back imo.

No, by no metric are they bigger. I was preparing to agree with this stance by googling highest club valuations, as I thought Man Utd were worth more, in terms of branding. They are the 10th more valuable franchise. Real I believe are 6th. So no, recent history, titles, production and simply how much the logo is worth is all in favour of real. Man Utd were the biggest club in football, but they’ve had a decade of top 6 finishes with the odd moment sprinkled in. They are still clinging onto their status as a big club by virtue of their brand recognition. But they are no longer atop the footballing pyramid. No metric supports that.

Bad managers were part of it, Simon. Also bad transfer business due to owners interfering with who managers did or didn’t get rather than their 1st choices when Glazers haven’t got a clue about football. Only marquee/big signings when they needed shirt sellers.
