So, it turns out RKH81 having a really good sound with a tape mod
and I think it the best gasket budget keyboard that you can find now.

I'm considering the brown or skycyan switch. The lubed skycyan was so impressive ! Is it the lubed skycyan is lubed by yourself or the factory prelubed ?

Do you think it is worth buying the yellow creams for the board or just straight lubing the sky cyan switches instead?

I think just straight lubing the Skycyan switches is enough but for typing experience is another different story cause Yellow creams and Skycyan are using different material to make, For me if you like soft sound and feeling Skycyan is doing better than Yellow cream, But if you like hard and stiff feeling Akko Yellow cream is the best and the sound is aggressive more than Skycyan too.

holy shit the difference between skycyan lubed and not lubed is insane also, in the 3 layers of tape, did you also have the space bar modded? it seems almost too deep with just tape

just bought my H81 2 days ago. Sadly they only have the one with the blue switch. Planning on replacing this. At the moment I'm setting up outemu purple unlubed. Its sounds like brown tactile but a bit silent that the brown. I guess I have to keep this purple and lubed it later. I will follow your video for the tape mod.

replaced with Akko Cream Black Pro V3. Daaaaayyyuuummmm. Not even lubbed+taped+filmed yet. Its thocky already.

Do you recommend to replace the stock stabs with let's say, durock stabs? Or is the stock stabs good enough? Also, does the stock stabs need holee mod or nah? Thank you for your answer.

I think the stock stab is good enough you don’t have to mod it or anything.

@@weburus follow up question. This might sound silly I'm still a newbie in the hobby so, does the keyboard need switch pads? I noticed in the video that it had a silicone foam with silicone switch pads. Kay i still put individual poron switch pads on the pcb then put the silicone pad on top of them? Does that make sense? 😅

@@SerJarvis I think it might not make any difference if you do that and it would make the switch too high up from the PCB and it will cause the switch to loosen up when you pulling out the keycaps. So if you want to use a poron pad you might need to get a new foam too.

Akko cream blue is really loud I would not recommend if you doesn’t want a loud noise.

wont the tape mod be a fire hazard with the battery? did the tape adhesive damage the pcb or is it fine after a few months of using? BTW I really like what you did with your keyboard it sounds really great.

I put a foam under the spacebar keycap to make it sound deeper and not hollow.

How to remove the knob? Im afraid id break something because its so stiff to come off

I recommend using flat head screwdrivers or hard thin plastic and put it under the knob to get it off. Try to wiggle it up both side(bottom right and top left) equally and you will easily get it off.

You can switch knob by putting a flat head screw under the knob to get it off. It really easy I recommend.

For me, I think if you are using F1-F12 a lot I recommend RKH81 but if you don't use F1-F12 that much you should go for GMK67.

Yes, you can use painters tape to mod the keyboard and it actually a best type of tape to mod the keyboard too.

Cream blue is Tactile switch if you like a lound tactile sound and hard press switch feeling this is the one you should go. Cream Yellow is Linear switch if you like a soft sound but a little bit hard press switch feeling this is the one you should go. Anyway it depends on what you’re like the most. Maybe both is the way out like me. 😉

It is universal hotswap you can use 3pin and 5pin switch and the polling rate is 1000hz in wired mode and 125hz in wireless mode.

Isn't dangerous to tape mod when your keebs has batteries? TYIA

Doing a tape mod is have no dangerous to the batteries in the keebs but if you use tape that have a really sticky glue it might be dangerous for your PCB, because when you pull the tape off some of the part under the PCB might came off with the tape.

nI have one tip for making your keyboard sound more thocky that you don't need to pay any money or apply any extra lubercants or any tape or any third party materials. All you need is your hands and your less than thocky keyboard. So the ultimate tip is, type lighter.
