You can thank Douglas Dayton for Target. Back in 1962,he spotted the customers moving through cashiers through his one of his stores rather expediciously. He told another person that the customers they were going thru the aisles "like a moving target". The name stuck.

@@itzyaboiiwill-gamingyeet8245 target is dying out in Australia the American target had other things like we had more concepts Super Target, Target Express, City Target, Target Greatland (GREATLAND CONCEPT FAILED) just the everyday items Super Target was an expanded target with bigger grocery that counts as bakery and deli counters bigger fruits and vegetables section a expanded deli aisle and more Target Express is a small concept basically like the standard target but smaller if I'm sure but they are basically the corner convenience store Target Greatland is a 90s concept half standard target half Super Target it failed in 2009 or 2010 as fruits and vegetables and meats with other foods added to stores Target Greatland stores got turned into standard Target stores or Super Target Stores City Target is basically a smaller target in cities or urban areas I believe but it's the everyday basic items you see everyday Target is 130,000 square feet for a standard store Super Target is 175,000 square feet Target Greatland is 160,000 square feet I think some are smaller than others and the other concepts I'm not sure how big they are

Just found out today that the music used for these commercials is Dick Hyman's "The Legend of Johnny Pot" from his 1969 album "Moog - The Electric Eclectics Of Dick Hyman", which I'm currently listening to. :)

So is Kmart -- all three were founded in 1962. Target (owned by Dayton-Hudson) and Wal-Mart were regional chains for many years, while Kmart (S.S. Kresge) established stores all over the country from the very beginning. I'd love to know where this futuristic Moog synthesizer track came from. And the Miss Targé name shows someone there had a sense of humor!

Or in Australia, where Target Australia was converted to Kmart Australia in 2021. Target Australia never had any relation to Target US, originally was called Lindsay's Emporium, was owned by Myer and later Coles-Myer, before they were sold to retail firm Wesfarmers. Kmart Australia was originally a joint-venture between US retailer SS Kresge and Australian retailer Coles, later full-owned by Coles-Myer, they were sold along with Target Australia to retail firm Wesfarmers.
