It looks like a blast doing the flight testing and working out the bugs. I really like your intended Gennipod solution and the recommendation to build a bracket/handle into the aft fuselage. I'm glad you're finding the MiniMax handles very well! 👏🛩

A cross wind 45deg from the left would reduce the rudder input needed or make it slightly right rudder (which you are used to). It's Great you have got to the 5hr point, roll on 20hr more and do the next oil change and then everything will be in line. Speed checks and climb rates all need to be done in stable air (hight pressure weather systems are good), here in the UK cold frosty mornings are the ideal but you don't get those too often in your state 🙂

That totally makes sense! Scott says this engine doesn’t start to break in until around 10 hours.

Hi Dennis, make sure you shake the oil before dispensing, additives tend to settle out with time. Notice, even at 5 hrs. the oil seems dirty at drain... I would install a Frantz oil filter, which is a bypass filter but excellent filtration. Looks good, take care, Ron

It's nice to know you can get away from cloud suck. It can be great until it's not and you are in the white room. With hang gliding your always looking for lift but need to have an exit plan for clouds. Fly the edge and be ready to run away. Curious if you can thermal with it. Keep up the good work and videos.

It's been a couple years since I've flown. The last time was Lakeview Oregon. A couple of 25+ mile flights in ridge lift conditions. Lately we have been building a house in Elko, Nv and haven't had time for flying. Hope to correct that this coming year. Ànd find some nice mountains to fly locally. Maybe even build a Minimax 1100 that I've had plans the for 20 years.

With no “suspension”, it must take a fine touch to safely land. I suspect all your landings are great.

Hi Dennis, I’m looking forward to see your results with the GenniPod. I have one I’m going to mount on my Fly Baby this winter. Is it a GenniPod II?

I don’t love adding more weight to the airplane but I really have to have it and should have planned it in from the beginning. I plan to stretch out a bit with my airplane and don’t intend to just stay close to home, so getting somewhere and having to plug my battery in is just not ideal.

I have routinely flown my Fly Baby between New Jersey and Central Virginia which my current configuration handles well. But, I’m planning longer flights in the coming year. While I have two batteries and I’m capable of recharging via solar or plug-in, there are trips I’d like to take where I will not have enough time to solar charge and power may not be readily available. I’m currently using sealed lead-acid batteries, so I’m very curious about your liPo installation. I’ll be installing mine in the next couple of months.
