A quality song from back in the day which should be an anthem for all songs from the 1980’s the absolutely superbly talented “Tears for Fears” and it’s the first few bars of the intro that gets you hooked. But we’ll done to you guys for appreciating the kind of music us 60 somethings enjoyed as teenagers back in the day.
@_MjG_
@_MjG_ 5 ай бұрын
Too bad that you didn't get to listen to this song as a teenager, you were in your 20s when it was released in 1985. I'm aware you didn't say you listened to this specific song as a teenager, I just wanted to point that out. For those in their 60 somethings on the date you commented, only 60 to 63 years olds mathematically could've enjoyed 80s music "as teenagers". That music would've included music from January 1, 1980 through August 31, 1983 maximum & not after that date. For anyone over 60 years & 0 days, that end date gets pushed back towards Jan. 1, 1980 equally to how much older than 60 years 0 days they are... so the closer to 63yo, the less of their teenage year's & the less of 80s music they had available. There's far more 60 somethings that didn't get to enjoy 80s music as teenagers, than those that did.

The line in this song 'So Sad They Had To Fade It' is in reference to the song Shout, the record company cut it down to release it as a sing, 'Walls Come Tumbling Down' is in reference to the Berlin wall.

A complex song, you get it if you learn to play it on a guitar. Roland truly shows off his skills on this tune. A truly hypnotic melody and beat. Killer classic, thank God I grew up hearing these amazing songs on the rock and roll radio. Generations now, you analyze our music, but you'll never truly understand what all this music meant to us when we were young. Eat your heart out listening to it, you certainly don't know what it was like when it was new, and the music was e v e r y w h e r e. Remember, we bought records, lol. You guys now, lol, you'll never, ever enjoy the same experience, this video reaction stuff is as close as you all get.

Curt sings lead here. Roland songs lead in most of the other songs. Written by Chris Hughes, Ian Stanley + Roland Orzabal. The record company demanded 1 more song, a hit. This was the last song recorded for the 1985 album. Chris had a drum shuffle. Ian Stanley had a keyboard riff. Roland wrote the lyrics and the guitar attack, which bored him! L🤣L Better version than the one sung by Lourde. This song inspired members of Glass Tiger to write the song Don't Forget Me when I'm Gone with Jim Vallance. 🇨🇦. The bassline of Everybody... is also similar to Can't Stop This Thing We Started, written by Bryan Adams and Mutt Lange. Suggested next video: Glass Tiger and Bryan Adams perform. Don't Forget Me When I'm Gone. Suggested next Tears for Fears video: Break It Down Again. 🇬🇧

What a great and honest reaction :) i am 50, and i remember this coming out as a single, in 1985 in the UK, where i grew up. The bass part on this tune, was copied from "Waterfront" by Simple Minds, and it's one of those killer 80's tracks. If you liked this, check out "Shout", and "Head over heels", both from TFF. TFF are a duo comprising of Roland and Curt. Ian and Mani played on their second album Songs From The Big Chair but they never officially joined the band. Roland and Curt spilt after their third album Sowing The Seeds Of Love. Roland continued the TFF name releasing two further albums, Elemental and Raoul And The Kings Of Spain. The duo got back together in 2014 and released the vastly underrated album Everybody Loves A Happy Ending. They have toured most years since then. In 2022 the duo released a new album called The Tipping Point.
