ive posted this already on other videos, but i still think, our best shot at that, would be a minecraft mod. greed island is basically a mmo. were never gonna get a faithful adaptation of that, as the conversion limits are calibrated for up to 800 players (100 discs, with multitap 8 players per copy). also after a player collects all 100 cards, what would they do after? plus any company made game will include microtransactions -_- the other option for an official game would be a single-player campaign, which will probably be more linear than in the show. so our only hope for a faithful adaptation of the game would be a fanmade one.

@@proclarushtaonasat it could a dnd like campaign, with a monopoly like map where people go around map using dices to determine how far they go. You could also have event sloth where if a player lands on it there need to roll a special dice to complete it, if they fail they get punished for a certain amount of turns and if they pass, a restricted slot card is received.

tekking deserves a lot more praise i’m pretty sure he doesn’t have a editor and look at the extent he put into this video. This being said a lot of people post daily and make this a full time job but also pay editors or don’t put this much time and love into there videos. We love you tekking

With how restrictive the number of card slots you have, Greed Island actively encourages you to play with partners, EVEN THOUGH only one person can actually win the game. Ging had to know people were gonna heavily fight each other even if he put a restriction on killing.

It makes sense that Ging would want people to play the game with their friends considering Ging's lesson to Gon at the World Tree--enjoy the time you have with your friends.

If Greed Island is meant to be a training program for hunters, the Harbor master endless quest string is a rather clever way to train someone to the point that they snap and finally do beat the harbor master

I literally just started reading Hunter x Hunter a few weeks ago and already at where Killua got with Alluka trying to save Gon so seeing this is awesome. I seen the anime years ago but never read the manga but been reading the big 3 and I finished them all now on Hunter x Hunter.

So here’s an interesting twist to this idea: Ging and his friends created Greed Island as a treasure-hunting game for Hunters and experienced Nen users, right? Their goal, at the end of the day, was to create a fun challenge and let people train their Nen to the next level. Yeah, it’s still a competition, and there can only be one winner (I think), but that’s what their intention was. Now comes the twist: Baterra. Baterra offers a 50 billion Jenny reward for clearing the game, which attracts all sorts of people to play the game. This very public incentive is an outside factor that sorts of creates a selection pressure which contributes to a population of players that are more likely to be competitive and manipulate the game rules to try and clear the game efficiently, rather than players who want to take the game at their own pace. In other words, if Baterra’s reward didn’t exist, how different would the Greed Island arc be when Gon and Killua are playing it?

That's such a cool thought. I do wonder what type of intensity would greed island naturally bring. Would it become an intense exclusive only 400 people are worthy of being here club. Or wouldn't it be 400 Gons just super into the infinite #s go up rpg Ging and crew built.

Gon had the Paladin's Necklace, so attack spells wouldn't work against him if I recall correctly. That's why he was given all the rare cards in their party.

I never gave much thought to the Harbor Master but he is clearly part of the make yourself stronger intention of greed island. If you're not strong enough or rich enough to make him do what you want he will train you to get there.

I dozed off during a powernap with autoplay on and was able to visualize what you were saying in my dream!! Granted, I ended up seeing Gon fighting with Deku and the Fairy Tail guild against a group of card raiders in a video game. Meanwhile, I was being smothered by a friend's 4 happy dogs as an OC while trying to watch TV,,,

i assume the dorks in the game is because early on only weak nen users got interested in the game, until the word spread around and stronger people started entering and raising the power level, and those weaklings were unable to leave the game, like the phantom troupe only entered the game to find a nen user that could help chrollo, and many of the strong players were being paid to play by someone else

The angels breath might be so hard to get as part of a restriction to make the ability possible remember greed Island is made by and run by nen which means alot of restrictions

That makes a lot of sense tbh. The restrictions on the most rare cards are what actually empower those cards. Even the restriction on the number of each card that can exist probably adds to this - in other words, only a few of the most powerful cards can exist because that helps make their effects more powerful.

@@tevinvezina1766 watching it the 1st time it seemed like game mechanics with nen as a feature but going back to re watch it I think the game was built entirely around nen Alot of the seemingly arbitrary or bs mechanics are probably a nen restriction to make it work Razor and the others are strong but that much nen being used on that scale probably requires alot of restrictions to function properly

Makes me think, it would probably be useful to have the ability to separate your hand/finger with the ring on it, in this game. I suppose people could transport to it, but that disadvance could be mitigated with traps or where you put it or by people just not knowing your ability if you have a fake hand/finger there. You also can walk around without people being able to steal from you. No only tests your strengths, but this game also makes you think about how to develope your nen ability.

TEKKING Play the MMO LOTRO (Lord of the rings online) It has quests that are actually worth reading. Play a rune keeper and stream your experience. It is a hidden pet class except your pets are pet rocks (Their are 4 pet rocks aka Rune Stones.) (The game classifies them as pets and you can even re-name them.) The class is Clark Kent until you get your first pet rock then it becomes Superman.

A cultural genius, with such a lengthy campaign across KZfaq, I hope you go down in the annals of history as the KZfaq legend that you are! 52:41 you can protect all your pages because after you cast fortress the number of card will go down and you can get a new one to cast on the other pages. Like when after they use Angel's breath at the end game and they can clone a new one because the number of card goes down

The great thing about all this information is if you ever wanted to do a HxH dnd and the players wanted to play Greed Iland you already have it. I think a HxH dnd would be cool because nen ability's in dnd could use the games mechanics for restrictions for example a busted ability but causes you to gain 1 exhaustion or just have normal restrictions like that ability Leol used that it can only be used when raining or Phinks ability of course the DM would have to talk to players about what is the right amount of a condition for how strong an ability is.

I've always wondered, could breath of arch angel have healed Gon after his transformation? You could argue it wasn't really a wound but rather just a consequence of his nen being all used, but if rebuilding Gon's arm was quotedly "easily done," I wonder.

I'd imagine it would most likely heal the physical damage, but there was probably also huge psychological strain too, he may have stayed in his coma even if his body healed. I also don't think it would've gave his Nen back either, but yeah, it probably would've worked

46:04 so yeah both technically not wrong the kana on top "ショット" is shotto so "shot" the kanji "凶弾" is kyodan which pretty much translates to "assassins bullet" "凶" kyo which is villain or evil, assassin etc "弾" dan which is bullet

Even if the damage from the rock was invalidated the boulder would not have disappeared... Genthru would have been buried under the boulder in the hole even is he was not damaged which might have been worse... On top of that would the damage from the boulder be a single attack? Maybe he used it and cancelled the damage 100 times then broke but the boulder was still on top of him...

If a short ranged spell is cast on someone do you think the caster has to stay within 20m for the 15 second window or could they cast the spell then use return and when they arrive they get the carsd/s they stole

I remember when I first got to Greed Island in the manga and dozens of cards with their names and effects were on the pages. I got nervous and anxious cause I couldn't remember all that and was sure they'd all come in handy and when I'd get to those parts I wouldn't understand the impact or possible foreshadowing if they mention a certain card name.

So as I was watching this I stopped and thought about if Angel's breath could heal any injury or cure any disease, if they would have taken one off of greed Island(let's just assume we could have a fourth card for sake of the question) would that have cured/heal/resurrect kites mangled body?

I don't think it was ever mentioned that Angel's Breath is capable of resurrection, so probably it wouldn't have been possible to restore Kites. Maybe his body, but definitely not his sense of self.

The peek card could be good in a casino actually, it allows you to see what other cards the opponents have after all (assuming playing cards are affected). It´s the cheat at poker card.

@@micahsage72 same! My take is that it depends on the nen abilities of the ones who made the card, especially for Gon. Was it done by one person? More? Where does it take the necessary energy? Does it just sum? Is there synergy if more people combine their nen, thus allowing to reach greater peaks (a single exorcist couldn't even think about doing anything)? From there is just rough maths, but arriving there is the real gap
