My sister went to jail few years back in the midst of battling a severe drug addiction. At the time she had lost almost all who she thought were her friends and life truly. I went to see her in prison here in the USA. I dearly missed her and wanted to encourage her. I went in that typical room with the two way glass with the payphone and we made eye contact and her spirit was crushed I could tell. I then signaled her to pick up the phone and sang her the beginning "hello how are you has it been alright though all those lonely lonely nights" and she sang the song back to me crying it made her so happy.Just something silly she would know to escape that reality. She now has been clean 2 years now, free and it was a good memory for her in a hard time. Thank you.

From Paul McCartney, Ringo Star, Tom Petty and Joe Walsh from the brilliant 2012 BBC Documentary Mr. Blue Sky: The Story Of Jeff Lynne (ELO-Traveling Wilburys) : " It took 4 Beatles and George Martin to accomplish what Jeff Lynne has done musically all by himself. Of course, by popularity and COMMERCIALLY, The Beatles are no 1 but musically Jeff Lynne rules. I am a huge Beatles fan but Jeff Lynne is better with Harmonies, Orchestration, as an incredible Producer, singer and songwriter". Long live Jeff Lynne's ELO!!! Please Tour in 2022!!!

You're seriously responding to that guy?! The doo-WOP part is idiomatic of the 50's and early 60's, when Jeff Lynne was getting into his teens and probably first experiencing unrequited love. Jesus, you folks are vapid.

Yes, last NA Tour was1982...as I was only 16 and A huge fan listening to Discovery and then the Time album, I was so ready to see them finally live, despite at that time that I was huge fans of U2 and the Police whom I had seen at the time in Miami live as well in the early 80's. Little did I know that ELO would not tour the US after 1982. Only now, they are touring the US for their 2019 NA Tour. Do your self a favor and drive, fly, run to see possibly one of the 5 best classic rock band (The others being Led Zeppelin, Eagles, Queen, and Elton John) of the 70's this year! You won't regret it!

I do not think that Jeff Lynne has ever received the credit that he rightly deserves. I'd like to echo Karl Zarling in saying that his music has made my life better since I was a lad. Whenever I hear Telephone Line I am transported back to 1976, listening to this song on my 8 track player in my bedroom. What a nice feeling that is. Thank you Mr. Lynne.

Simply divine. He must've taken great care of his vocal cords his whole life. No mean feat given the relentless touring he certainly did over the years. He absolutely deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Mccartney, Lennon, Wilson as the great pop geniuses of our generation.

He worked in the Studio with The Beatles. He formed ELO and wrote, and performed some of the most timeless songs ever written. Then began writing and producing other famous artists. My favorite artist ( Tom Petty ) became a more mature and grounded song writer and artist while working with Jeff Lynne. Then they united with some of the greatest of all time and formed The Traveling Wilburys, and the Greatness continued. As a music Genius, they don't come any better than Jeff Lynne
