Long overdue. Truly amazing presence and influence she gives. Living legend. Definitely can tell the amount of hard work, challenges, patience, determination, grit she has overcome and put in, to get to where she is today, and beyond. Just imagined being mentored and taught by her! She brings that old school values of real passionate teaching, strict yet with love and empowering. Fame has always been one of my favorite musical show of all time, especially when I need some pick-me-up vibes, nothing like the song Fame!

I still remember the first time I met you at the Kennedy Center when the MLK, Jr Day was declared a national holiday. Our marching band played at the celebration and you were very kind to us.

in these modern times, there is no better ambassador for the arts, than Debbie Allen. She is a living example of why we need to give black pioneers their flowers while they're still among the living. Most folk dont even know that she's won 5 EMMYS & a Golden Globe. You will not find many black entertainers on Planet Earth, who have won 1 Emmy, let along 5 of them. So, when you're trying to figure out why she got a Kennedy Center Honor?...look at her body of work spanning well over 40 yrs in the entertainment industry and the arts. She is a living legend.
