Massage guns are all the rage in the DIY/at-home health and healing community. In the last year, we've seen tons of companies develop their own versions of the massage gun. But with their growing popularity, most people still don't completely understand why these percussive instruments even work. Using your massage gun mindfully is having an understanding of what muscles need to be RELEASED and which need to be SIMULATED or ACTIVATED. Using it in the proper direction for the proper muscle is key to seeing a long-term improvement (and not just a short-term relief). Discover the two general rules for using a massage gun and, more specifically, my favorite way to use it for TENNIS ELBOW!
You can purchase the Achedaway Massage Gun below. Use our coupon code REHABANDREVIVE for $25 OFF your purchase!

I play badminton regularly and for 4 months been suffering from tennis elbow. Took a break for 1 month, did physiotherapy, continued arm strengthening exercises, did ice packs regularly, watched multiple YT videos BUT nothing made it better like how just 10 mins of using the massage gun like how its shown in this video did!! Mind blown! 🤯 Thank you!! 😭

this is the only thing that has helped my tennis elbow get better. i’ve done stretching, forearm work outs, magnesium lotion and many other things but i can truly say this has given me instant relief. i am on my second day of doing it day and night and my pain has gone down at least 30% and am gaining more mobility as well. i wouldn’t say my tennis elbow is severe, but it is definitely effecting me in my every day life and changing how i do things. will update in a couple weeks!

What about the inverse of this? I suffer from golfer’s elbow in my right elbow and won’t seem to heal. Do I need to lengthen the forearm muscles that attach to the lateral epicondyle? I’ve been massage gunning my forearm on the medial side and I thought I’d be seeing better results by now with pain levels

Generally we recommend using all three in that progression, yes! Everyone's body is different though so give it a try and find what works for you. Frequency and duration is impossible to determine without an evaluation, but a licensed physical therapist in your area should be able to give you more information!

Here's to hoping it will help me. I already miss lifting heavy. ... Currently I can't do any pull/push exercise that bends the arm at the elbow. I can still do hook grip deadlift, which is nice. However, getting the weights on the barbell still puts strain on the injury. ... Now, how I got the injury is story some of u will laugh it. Which is okay lol. I injured myself by setting up for a deadlift, not actually doing it, to be clear. I basically straight-arm pulled the weights onto the barbell, while one side was elevated by a small plate. The bigger 45lbs plate got caught at the edge of the small 5lbs plate; and so, with me pulling full force, caused these popping sensations in my elbow, and so now I am in pain. The kind of pain that is so dull, I could not feel the pain, but I knew I was in such when I blacked out for half a second.

As a licensed PT myself, tennis elbow involves the muscles in the lateral compartment of the elbow. Namely, extensor carpi radialis brevis. Dr Lin barely worked this area. He focuses his attention and treatment on the medial compartment - the area when inflamed is called golfers elbow. Please address this discrepancy. Thank you.

@@MsIvyleager Thanks for your comment, If you watched the full video we address the lateral to facilitate and medial to inhibit. So There may be confusion of why we started medially. Thanks for being a licensed PT!

It's not clear as to what you're doing to lengthen- versus shorten. In your video, it seems like you're doing the exact same thing for both? Perhaps massaging lengthens, and doing wrist curl exercises shortens? I will research more i guess. It's not clear here...

Sorry guys, this DOES NOT strengthen your tendons. All you are doing is stimulating blood, which is "loosening" your tight tendon, with the discomfort returning once the stimulus resides. Doing basic high rep PT weight treatments is the only thing that will repair AND strengthen your tendons.

@VengefulPolititron hurt in what way? Hurt while doing what? There are absolutely ways to design weight training programs that compensate for nagging injuries and allow for slow rebuild. I would need more info about your injuries, your current weight/height/body composition, and your fitness goals before I could suggest an introductory program. Happy to help if I can, brother.

I know your demonstratinG but if you have severe live and active tennis elbow , even holdin your arm out like your doin for a moment will Greatly affect your healin process and increase that days pain level. Also holdin the Gun up in the other hand is heavy stress for someone dealin with this . This seems unrealistic unless your well ways thru the healinG process and just would like to upkeep or prevent.

The fast fwding is too fast and respectfully an awful idea. People are coming to this video for information and technique. It’s better to show the viewer the exact way you’re hitting which areas, at what angle, what pressure, etc. The viewer can jump ahead if they’re in a hurry, but others who are interested can better utilize your expertise.

All areas of the body are shown in regular speed with precise instructions. The fast forwarding is only used for parts of the body already addressed (just with a new head). The parts that are fast forwarded add nothing new other than a different head.
