I go back to around 1978, when I bought a copy of the Waves album on a whim. I got to see Terje with trumpeter Palle Mikkelborg and drummer Jon Christensen in concert in 1980. They were touring a few cities along the eastern US coast, promoting the Descrendre album: an unforgettable evening. This footage with Victor Bailey and Billy Cobham popped into my KZfaq feed the other day and I've been taking it in slowly over the past couple of days. Marvelous stuff.

Wow, i never listen to this Jam. The last time i saw Victor, was with the Zawinul Sydicate. We talked and made a little Jam together. He was a very friendly cat. I never forget him. Morris, you had a very great brother, too sad he left us!! RIP my good friend!!

So wonderful to see a performance that hi-lights the greatness of Victor Bailey. First time I saw him play I knew he was one of the Cats. You just know he could pick up a Squire & make it sound great. Sound, groove & creativity from a fearless musician. What a trio!

You'd probably enjoy checking out some of his recordings on the ECM label such as Waves, After The Rain, or Odyssey. Always well played but way more outside the box than most guitarists who are generally considered fusion greats.

Victor was one of my favorite bassplayer. And one of those who made me want to play bass a long time ago. Great sound and so humble in his way of being on stage (as well as in his private life I suppose).

Well, according to Billy's information at 26'33 the concert opened up with a free form piece composed by all the 3 members and dedicated to the festival. Then a composition by Terje Rypdal followed it, called Dear Devil, and a piece by Cobham (cannot understand the title). After that comes the piece by Victor Bailey entitled Here Today, Gone Tomorrow, which is the 4th composition of this concert actually.
