The ironic thing is Sculptured Software went on to make nearly all future WWF games for Acclaim (including Wrestlemania: Steel Cage Challenge on the NES and Rage in the Cage on the Mega CD) until Acclaim lost the WWF license in 2000. They also made the much hated SNES port of Mortal Kombat and "angry reviewer" favourite, Captain Novolin.

Strangely enough, I still have Rage in the Cage for the Sega CD. As for Acclaim, one thing I will never get over was Batman Forever the game on SNES, Genesis, Game Boy, Game Gear and PC. And as for Mortal Kombat, I actually liked the Sega CD port of the game more than the Genesis or the SNES version.

However, I would like to mention that there is an excellent game called Hybrid Heaven for the N64 where you get to wrestle with aliens. Oh I remember mastertronic. The main thing I remember were their spectrum tapes were so badly manufactured they often stopped working after a few playes cos the tape would stretch or something and the code would become impossible for the Speccy to read any more, so it'd just crash during loading. I'm guessing it was the tape stretching, since at least one of them litrally snapped the first time I rewound it.

The 'Guru Meditation' error reading derives from an old Amiga skateboarding/surfing peripheral called the Joyboard. There was a programme called Guru Meditation, you would sit on the board and it would measure how still and calm you were. I think the people that designed the Amiga hardware used it after crashes.

I made quite few games for the C64, I made a C64 version of Tetris. A game where you're a snake eating bugs and it made you longer and eggs made you shorter but you had to fit in small rooms in a maze to get the bugs and find a way out. A game where you had to paint a wall before the guy above you dripped paint and bugs walk over it and you had to paint it again. C64 was a fun machine to learn to program machine language, Basic was too slow.

Vastly unfair to Mastertronic with this I feel, admittedly they did indeed release some pretty dire games but at the same time they released some very good ones too for a budget line series of games with prices between £1.99 and £2.99. Kickstart 2, the entire magic knight series, one man and his droid, the last v8,Flash Gordon,Agent X 1 & 2, Rockman, Kane Phantoms of the asteroid etc. AND that is not even mentioning all the great Rob Hubbard tracks which came with quite a few of their c64 titles.
