Terry Silver Will Call Mike Barnes FINALLY - Cobra Kai Season 4 Ending Explained

2 жыл бұрынSo with the ending of Cobra Kai season 4 we all saw the big twist with how Terry Silver framed John Kreese, shedding himself of his weakness and having John arrested. As John is going in the police car, Silver tells him don’t worry, I’ll call up a couple old cobra kai buddies. Now who could he mean?
A few buddies from Nam? From the war? A few original original cobras that joined Terry and John back in the 60’s and 70’s? Possibly…but..I think who he really means is Mike Barnes, Snake, and Dennis. Mainly Mike Barnes…
Hey Mikey Boy, guess who? Your old pal Silver. Mike hangs up. So Silver goes out and finds him. He tells him remember that deal we had, if you help me beat Larusso, you get 50% of Cobra Kai. Well, consider this a deal 35 years in the making. What do ya say…Co Owner?
Mike joins Silver in recruiting new senseis for the dojos being opened up all throughout the valley, and from there, Mike will teach some of the most ruthless students yet to come out of Cobra Kai.
Mike Barnes has to be in season 5 of cobra kai. With Kreese out of the picture, for now, we need someone who can take the place of his apprentice, that’d be Mike Barnes, this would match Daniel and Chozen returning.
Silver and Barnes, Chozen and Daniel, with Johnny off to find Miguel in Mexico, who knows what trouble he finds there with Miguel’s dad whoever he is.
Mike Barnes will help fill in the shoes of Kreese now that he’s gone. But remember what Silver said, he’ll handle cobra kai while Kreese figures out his legal issues. This means he knows Kreese is coming back at some point, he just needs him to MIA for a short period of time. Most likely to be able to take over the cobra kai franchise contract now that Kreese no longer has a clean record.

I love Silver's moment of sanity, when Krease first approached him. He's like "Back in the 80's, I was so coked out of mind, I was trying to destroy some teenager's life through a karate tournament. It sounds insane just saying it out loud!" One of the best lines in this awesome show.

It was a term I call "breaking the third wall". It is not technically breaking the 4th wall (and I wont insult your intelligence by telling you what that means) but its when a show realizes how absurd its stories would seem to the viewers so it basically has characters IN the show agreeing with the audience. Daniel's wife saying things like "our safety depends on winning a karate tournament" is another example. The funniest example of "breaking the 3rd wall) I ever saw was in Austin Powers (I cannot remember if its the original movie or sequel) when the main villain's son is upset because his father is going to put Austin in some death trap where he will be dead in a few minutes but of course in these stories the hero always escapes just in time though ingenuity and sometimes some good luck. The old tv show MACGUYVER and the late 1960s version of BATMAN is full of that kind of thing. And the son is begging his father to just shoot Austin in the head and get it over with but his father is saying that is not how we do it so then his son says OK then , make sure a guard is watching him the whole time so that he cannot escape and his father said "that is not how we do it, we will leave him unguarded" so in a final act of desperation his son says AT LEAST SEARCH HIM TO MAKE SURE HE DOES NOT HAVE A TOOL OR GADGET ON HIM HE COULD USE TO ESCAPE (I am thinking BATMAN on that one) and his father refused to do that too.

What’s crazy to me is that it seems like John does nothing but bring up Terry’s PTSD from the war that fuels this side of him. Kreese should have seriously left him alone.

Barnes coming back would definitely open a whole other dynamic to the show and I do think he will come back. He's destined to. It has to happen.

He will definitely come back. He basically admits it with his Ken Cole interview. With Robby and Tory and now a reformed Kreese gone from Cobra Kai dojo, season 5 will have Cobra Kai at it's most evil. Silver and Barnes and Snake running it and grooming the next breed of psychos like Kyler and his buddies.

This is why i hate Hollywood. We have these great actors delivering so well in the Cobra Kai series, changing how a legendary franchise should be held, but then they get forgotten over time by hollywood. The actor who plays Terry Silver did such an amazing job, i can’t believe why his he not a major Hollywood star? Thank God for Cobra Kai for bringing back these legends and for all of this love letter to this legendary franchise fans!

He is fantastic. I really don't understand why he wasn't a bigger star in the late 80s and 90s. He could have been The Punisher. Hell, he could even have taken over from Christopher Reeve as Superman. I am going to make a point of digging out all his movies and watching them.

There's no doubt in my mind that Mike Barnes WILL be in season 5. Honestly when Amanda said to Daniel "Are there any other Cobra Kai's from your past that are going to come out of the woodwork and destroy our lives? and Daniel responded with "No. Well I can't say that for sure." I immediately thought about Mike Barnes. Jon, Josh and Hayden have done such an amazing job with this show.

I mean technically its not really Johnny's show. Almost every character on the show has had equal screen time on the show since season 1. In my opinion I find it hard to make the show Johnny's when there is still flaws in his technique. Karate in real life and like Miyagi-Do teaches is some what the real and best practice to karate. In real life any active competitor who used Johnny's technique would be stripped of their belt and titles, even if you misused karate on the streets. You simply do not use karate as a offensive tool. The original movie some what made a statement that American form of karate Creese was teaching was obscured to real life true karate. Which is where you had this native Japanese man who comes in and teaches Daniel true karate. In some ways the show is going to have to take the direction to make Johnny pick up and understand the true form of karate that Miyagi taught. Even Chozen in season 3 admitted that his version of Miyagi Do was wrong cause he used it for offensive aggression on people.

@@anthonygordon9483 If Karate was the show, I'd agree. Cobra Kai is technically the name. We see what that means through Johnny's perspective. It has to start out flawed and in need of rehabilitation just as Johnny does. His influence on the kids and his relationships with Daniel, Kreese, and Carmen are the meat of that journey.

I loved seeing Terry Silver's return in the series. I always found his character so charismatic that I just can't find myself to hate him. Unlike John Kreese in the series. This whole season (I had watched twice now). I had loved every scene with Terry Silver. And I was surprised to see him set up Kreese. But when they were first introduced. He was not happy to see Kreese. And almost every scene with them leading up to the end was of Kreese 'threatening' Silver by bringing up their past history.

It actually seemed out of character that he would setup Kreese for aggravated assault and attempted murder. Cobra Kai under sensei Johnny Lawrence and John Kreese (now reformed) would be an awesome ending to the series. They can ditch the absurd Eagle Fang crap and just go back to Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai, only this time they are allies. Friends. Helping kids become the best persons they can be, because as Johnny said life is often gray. There is a time to show mercy and a time not to. There is a time to strike first and a time to "no be there".

He was so suppressing his true instinct with therapy, the fact he was the millionaire success story having to play second fiddle to a failure of a captain, who constantly put him into PTSD. He knows he is more intelligent than Kreese. And he doesn't want to be beholden to kreese. The pivotal point was "everyone has a weakness". Therapy would identify kreese is his positive and negative trigger. Kreese trying to hid it led to his downfall. Pride led to his fall. As it is, I think silver will allow stingray to say "I was mistaken as to identity", just so silver can tell kreese "know your place"

@@flightofthebumblebee9529 I don’t think Silver intended to set up Kreese. He was drunk and Stingray walking into the dojo was just a random act. I think their camaraderie will be on the rocks but they’ll still split by the end of the series, with Cobra Kai shutting down again whenever Tory blows the whistle on the meeting she saw between Silver and the tournament official, which creates a massive scandal in the valley and Cobra Kai’s lifetime ban is reinstated.

He wanted to get rid of Kreese cuz he kept on guilt-tripping him and threatening him, and since Kreese was his best friend he kept on taking shit from him without doing anything, and then eventually he had enough of Kreese and framed his ass.

Especially that the ACTOR is practically BEGGING to be allowed back on the show and even got in great shape for the role, he worked out like crazy in the gym and is physically stronger than Zabka and the Chozen actor now. He looks scary with those muscles.

I can't blame Terry Silver. I loved the fact Terry finally addressed his aggression toward Kreese. He got tired of having 'Nam held over his head. One interesting aspect is to see briefly how Terry admitted the truly humiliating thing for him was the extent he went just to hurt a bunch of kids at a karate tournament. This show is very interesting. Chozen was a good fighter in a state of anger, but calmed and collected he is lethal. Terry Silver was dangerous in a drug induced and spiteful frame of mind. Terry Silver level headed and collected is going to be more dangerous than ever. Look how badly he beat the shit out of Johnny. Chozen is needed now more than ever. He will be the balance that brings it all together I believe.

Johnny also underestimated him. Terry is nearly 70 years old and it's easy to underestimate an old man. Miyagi was underestimated many times. A full focused Johnny could take Terry

Can't blame Silver? Kreese asked for help. Silver decided on his own to take it to a whole other level. If Silver just used his money and let Kreese do the planning, I believe that KK3 would've been a MUCH different film. Kreese was a relatively stand up guy. Sure, he taught kids how to be assholes but he kept his word. No fighting until the tournament and it wasn't until those final few rounds that he began using some unfair tactics. Silver started teaching Daniel how to take out legs and eyes from the beginning.

I can see Kreese joining Johnny. I think Tory's mom will pass and her grandmother will come into the picture - Kreese's one love. That red envelope had to be that she was pregnant. Not telling him so he doesn't lose focus - not that she is dead but he had something to really live for and would be more cautious with his life.

As bad as KKIII was as a stand alone film and plenty of flaws (e.g. defending champion only doing one match) the cobrakai series has actually made it better and actually enhance the storyline. Just like how the writers gave a satisfying conclusion of Ali's breakup with Daniel from Alis point of view they have really given us so much more attention to detail. And kudos to the writers for not overstaying their welcome. I am predicting season 6 and 7 to be the last with possibly some spin-off series.

If you recall, the detective talking to Sting Ray told him that he would put whoever hurt him behind bars for a long long time. So I don't think that Terry has any regard for Kreese whatsoever. Terry's contempt for Kreese is probably far greater than any other character on the show because of what they went through together and all the times Kreese held that over his head. Season 5 is going to be fire!

This might not be the ONLY reason he betrayed Kreese but I think his FEELINGS WERE HURT when Kreese started SHOWING MERCY even if only a little bit (he lost face to Kreese at the tournament when Kreese undermined him concerning the "advice" he was giving Tory about fighting dirty). I wonder if a part of him was JEALOUS OF JOHNNY based on what he said during their "conversation" right before Kreese was arrested. Kreese and Silver were like brothers and when Kreese would not let him do too much damage to Johnny during that ambush scene I think Kreese saw that as prioritizing his love for Johnny OVER his love for Silver AND on top of that I think seeing Kreese starting to show mercy felt like a betrayal because they had made a vow together decades earlier to NEVER SHOW MERCY and it was a bond they both believed very strongly in. How is this for an analogy: 2 devoutly religious monks make a vow of celibacy together then one of them catches the other one in bed with a prostitute. Or 2 racist people are in the KKK together and one of them finds out the other is friends with a black person. Or 2 hippies make a vow to become lifelong vegans together and one of them catches the other eating a big New York steak covered in bacon. I think he experienced jealousy over Kreese having more love and concern for Johnny than for him AND the betrayal of their "vow" at the EXACT SAME TIME and that is a brutal "one two punch"

"you fucked up my zen to the point that i hospitalized an innocent man and returned to the psycho ways of my past, for that you pay. if you're going to turn me back into a villain, prepare to reap the whirlwind"

Man Silver was definitely one of the most badass villains I've seen in a while, he was like a slumbering Giant that Kreese woke up thinking he could control it but it most definitely didn't go the way he was expecting lol

Hey theory did you catch the star wars episode 3 references Dimitri and Eli made in the final episode during the Eli vs Robbie fight? They even talk about Eli having the "high ground" almost leaning into the comparisons the fans have been making with Robby and Anakin, found it pretty neat 😅

I think what’s interesting is that Anakin used form five of light saber combat, which is notoriously aggressive. While Obiwan used form, which is famously defensive. Similar to Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do.

Exactly what I was thinking, Daniel will end up getting beat badly and THAT is what will bring out the beast in Chozen, that's part of why I think they brought Chozen in (other than he is awesome and many fans want him as part of the show, not just for a couple episodes) I think he might also end up teaching all the students of Daniel AND Johnny - so that the kids can truly defend themselves. It is time to see Daniel truly lose, he barely made it through the "training" with Johnny - that makes me think he isn't strong enough to handle a one on one against Silver or Barnes.

I honestly think that Daniel and Chozen will take over Myiagi fang , while Johnny and Robby will spend the first half Season 5 in Mexico to look for Miguel . Daniel and Sam will obviously be aware of Miguels situation and encourage Johnny and Robby to work together and look for him .

It’s too predictable and we already have characters who are related to the OG franchise characters ( Johnny/Robby, Daniel/ Sam and Anthony ) . my guess is that Miguels dad is probably doesn’t want to see him, when he shows up in Mexico. This will probably be a huge moment, because Robby will likely help him get past the anger of not feeling wanted from a parent.

I think Silver absolutely knows that Barnes is Miguels son. Silver has connections all over the world and is a powerful man. He will use that knowledge to leverage Miguel to turn on his Mom and Johnny for forming a relationship with Robbie. CK needs a champion, its obvious Robbie is gone, he respected Kreese not Silver. Hawk is part of Miyagi Do now. Its obvious MIguel has to turn heel. He is starving to have a relationship with his biological father even if it means destroying everyone else.

We got the Love interest from Part 3 and Mike then there The Next Karate kid her love interest and antagonist I never watched that movie so notnsure about all those characters. Plus I'd love to see Jackie Chan and Jade Smith turn up I'd love to see Jackie Chan come along maybe Chan could tell Daniel that he knows a guy that Mr. Miyagi helped and Jackie Chan's characters could have been saved by Miyagi maybe a young Miyagi so that we can have a flashback. Maybe Miyagi taught Jackie Karate then Jackie decided to branch out and learn King Fu too and it could be how he learned his way of teaching. So Jackie and Hades can join with Daniel and Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang Karate and integrate some King Fu into it. Giving them an edge for the next time they go at it. Maybe there could even be a new competition not just an under 18 but no age restriction so that the kids but also adults compete cause their are tournaments out there like that. I dunno I just live the idea of Jackie Chan and Jade Smith returning and becoming canon.

This video has got it right. I was thinking along the same lines, but the video really expands on the idea in ways that make a lot of sense. Those Cobra Kai writers keep coming up with stuff that’s incredibly unique that just works. They’re exceptionally creative at coming up with stuff that nobody would think of that develops the characters in a way that’s completely consistent with the source material. I’m looking forward to hearing more about why Barnes was so much tougher for Daniel than Chozen. Could just be a psychological thing. He was able to just toy around with Daniel. There’s so much you could do with a story centered around those two.

Daniel was afraid, really afraid, so he wasn't fighting correctly against Mike (whilst with Chosen he knew he'd either win or die, which made him sharper and he was fighting for the girl too) and Silver was in his head. Once he shed the "mind killer" he was able to turn the trick against them, not by putting fear into Mike, but by confusing him with the Kata. Besides, if it only toke the drum technic (which at least is a metaphor for hip rotation which is the basis for generating power in Karate) to defeat Chosen, which is a lie 'cause they had been beating each other up for a while before that, Barnes was defeated with Kata!!!! (if you ever done Karate you'd know how idiotic that is...) Do you think Chosen will use the special move in the ancient Miyagi-Do scroll Daniel's kid was looking at that Daniel said it was a move he hoped he would never have to use? Hope so. If Mike returns, I hope he is still a mercenary type dude and not one of the good guys like Johnny. I would like him to be all about "What's in it for me?". Hope Dugan his one of the new Cobra Kai sensei too (even though he sucks as a fighter, he has Silver-like shellshock issues) and that Julie steps in also, but maybe that's only in season 6... One way Daniel can stick to the agreement made with Cobra Kai but still have a Miyagi-Do in the Valley, is by having Chosen (and/or Julie) has the Sensei (not Daniel or Johnny), whilst Daniel finances the dojo. I'm sorry to say, that I really don't much care about Johnny and Miguel's adventure in Mexico... It will probably end up envolving wrestling and bullfighting played for laughs... hopefully, it only takes a few episodes, like Daniel's trip to Okinawa.

I've always imagined things went very, very badly for Mike Barnes after he lost that final point. We know Kreese strangled Johnny for his failure in '84; what do you think Kreese AND Silver did to poor Mike afterward? I can't imagine it was pleasant. With that in mind, I wonder how Terry could convince Mike Barnes to do business with him again. Just offer him a bunch of money? Mike wasn't even truly part of Cobra Kai; he was brought in from some other karate dojo and Silver paid him to wear the Cobra Kai name in 1985. Mike was a karate mercenary with no particular allegiance to Cobra Kai (or even his pre-Cobra Kai dojo); his allegiance was to whatever money he could make. He probably *loathes* the Cobra Kai name, and Terry Silver in particular, after all these years.

That's exactly what I've thought all these years. There's no way Kreese and Silver would have let Barnes ride off into the sunset after that loss. They must have beaten him to a bloody pulp, or at least tried to. Either way, that has to get explained, and then setup how they'll convince Barnes to come back. It'd be too lazy writing if they reveal they parted ways peacefully.

I been saying this since the Mike Barnes spec began during season 3. I just don't think he would want anything at all to do with Silver. Yeah Terry could possibly through loads of cash at him,but he has no loyalty to COBRA Kai because he was never officially Cobra Kai. Most I can possibly see is Terry silver bailing Dutch out of jail but then I also questioned does he even know about Dutch? If anything my money is on the speculation that Barnes is Tori's father. I'm not on board at all in believing that Mike is gonna come back and be team silver

She most likely doesn't know of his Cobra Kai past. I believe Kreese and Barnes have been in touch. Kreese had a special interest in her and looks out for her for a reason. We shall see.

Chozen would probably rank second out of all the fighters in the series (behind Miyagi ofc, who beat pretty much everyone). Chozen could be the better version of the Johnny/Daniel team up. Seeing as Chozen knows how to straight up beat anybody’s ass, and him and Daniel will be on the same page in terms of methodology.

@@H.K.5 I think it’s sort of obvious Chozen is #2 greatest fighter in the Miyagi-verse second to Mr. Miyagi and maybe Sato if they’re 1A and 1B. Every major returning Karate Kid character: Johnny, Daniel, Kreese, Terry Silver, etc are all older men returning to serious karate after many years of inactivity. Chozen was a teen prodigy who trained the US military in combatives and NEVER stopped training since KK2. According to him he has no wife, no kids, doesn’t drink/has minded his health and body, etc. Maybe at one point it was a little closer/there’s a discussion but he’s *decades* ahead of everyone else right now in terms of his martial arts. His entire life has been given to his karate and nothing else. And I think they’re framing him to be the closest thing to Miyagi in CK which imo sounds right and is pretty cool.

What if Barnes ends up actually being on Daniel’s side? For instance, when Daniel said he wanted to go on the offense, what did he mean by that? It’s not like he, Chozen or Johnny are going to fight Terry in a duel to the death. He’s not going to unleash his students on an expanded and stronger Cobra Kai. So what can he really do? His best bet is to get a mole into Terry’s inner circle to expose his crimes. He wouldn’t use a kid like Robbie or Tory. So maybe Mike will be his man. Maybe Mike went to the army after losing in KK3 (and losing out on his equity stake in Cobra Kai since Kreese took off and Silver went into rehab/therapy). Maybe Mike was on the verge of being court-martialed and dishonorably discharged when his commanding officer gave him one last chance: train under his old sensei and find balance in his life. Of course, his sensei was Mr. Miyagi, which pissed Mike off. But Mike ultimately gave it a shot and ended up becoming a better person. Then, when Mr. Miyagi died, Mike attended the funeral and apologized to Daniel. Daniel then introduced Mike to Julie Pierce. They got married and now Mike is willing to help Daniel take down Terry. Or Mike will just be Terry’s sidekick again.

Having a little battle royal within the universe is hella interesting it's just doubtful that theyll do that as while boosting some they will ultimately destroy others growth etc. One that wouldnt would be a chozen vs barnes. But I'd like to see how johnny stacks up against barnes, surely I cant be the only one to be annoyed johnny gets stuffed with a tie vs Daniel and a bitter destruction vs silver. He needs a redemption win to fix the past 30 plus years of wasting.

I hope they give Terry some complexity and not allow him to fall into a 2 dimensional character. For ex. in KK3 he was great as Daniel’s mentor- he’s got a sympathetic, very intelligent and warm side- I hope they develop that. Terry and Johnny are easily the most interesting characters in the whole series. They’ve got to incorporate them as such.

I've got it, Silver betraying Kreese was all a charade, Kreese is going to trick Daniel into trusting him and all along he's still working with Silver.

And when it comes to terry silver i loved how when we first saw him he wasn't the big bad villain we used to now but he'd actually grown back into the role and as the season goes on and we slowly see him slip back into his old mindset, such as when he first met Daniel again and apologised he actually seemed sincre but when danny rejected his apology and spoke to him as if he was the same terry that danny used to know that seemed to be the point that tipped him back down the rabbit hole.

When Silver was being courted by Kreese and said, "it was the 80's, i was hopped up on cocaine and revenge" was the most self-aware and hilarious scene ive...seen...on tv in a long time. 2 peeves about the show: -they're all white belts until the tournament, now every kid from every dojo is a black belt -in the tourney, every point that is scored, the opponent looks at the ref, their sensei and point scorer like it was an illegal move. Whats up with that. Finally, Robbies last scene showed that kid can act

I have a problem with the last episode in season 4. I don't believe for one moment Kreese's weakness is Johnny Lawrence (after all he would have killed Johnny if Daniel didn't stop him at the end of season 3). I believe Kreese's weakness is Cobra Kai (not just the dojo, but everything it stands for). Johnny may have thought of Kreese as a father figure, but no way is it the other way around. I think the writers are forcing something with the Kreese character that isn't needed and they haven't earned. Plus, that whole thing with the Tori character was unbelievable. He NEVER would have told her to do it her own way. Where did that even come from? They may have done a good job with Silver, but they dropped the ball with Kreese. Kreese can NOT become a good guy. There is no way. There isn't a scenario out there that I would believe would make Kreese a good guy.

Who says Kreese is a bad guy? Just because Johnny and Daniel are against him means nothing. I believe Cobra Kai is one of the few shows where there are no defined heros and villains just people who are misunderstood or trying to get their way unconventionally. Kreese was always one of my favorite. He is broken man on the inside with PTSD and bloodthirst fueling his illusion of karate. He actually did see Johnny as a prize pupil and almost a son too. Think of it like the tough and sometimes abusive father who deep down likes his son but rarely ever shows it due to his ego. That is Kreese to Johnny. Totally believable. Also, I agree with him standing for Cobra Kai in general. It is a part of him, just like Silver too!

Kreese from 1984 to present has definitely been a major a-hole, but the Kreese in Vietnam looks like a class act. Obviously he had something turn him down the wrong path, but I think in the end he's going to redeem himself. My prediction is in the very end of this whole show he saves Johnny and then either dies or retires.

I think Chozen gonna be strong, out of all characters, pretty sure Chozen was only one that practiced karate regularly for last 30 years. Even Silva retired 15 years before getting back into it. I expect Chozen to bring some surprises, Silva is the ultimate villain so someone has to bring something. Dont forget Chozen comes from a wealthy family, his rich uncle in part 2. Chozen is like the opposite of Silva now, Darth Silva Vs Jedi Master Chozen lol

This show brought back the 80s Karate Kid series so well it’s shocking. Few movies/shows are able to that with all the remakes, sequels or spin-offs. Can’t wait for season 5
