Same exact thing happened to me when I tried to use my old regular roller skates, except I fell down immediately while I was getting up from putting them on. These things are awesome!

is it that much different? i play ice and inline and i don't have a problem playing an ice game and then inline a few days later the transition isnt like i have a balance issue or anything but people that use marsblade say and act like they forgot how to skate when they use regular skates/chasis again

+vyse it definitely feels really awkward when you switch back, because you can't be on your toes or heel anymore. You feel flat footed.

It doesn’t live up to the hype it’s supposed to get but I tried the marsblades and my old skates made me feel off balance and the wheels felt like they were wet and had no grip but the hockey player was not acting the same thing happened to me

It's all advertising...can't be that different cause your still on wheels, and wheels are wheels. Just rocker your wheels and save yourself $300.

this reply is 7 months late but i have used both the normal static roller hockey frames and the Marsblade rocker frames and it does make a world of a difference. it feels way more like skating on ice. you can actually rock back and forth like you would on ice skates. now you say just use a "rocker" setup with a static frame... that is no where near as effective. first of all, by using a static rocker wheel setup you have less wheels on the ground. ussually two to three based on wheel flex, size and wear. now when you get into tight turns, having less wheels making contact with the ground means less grip. the Marablade rocker frame allows all 4 wheels to be in contact with the ground at all times, while still being able to rock back and forth to get that ice skate like feel. also a Urethane bushing on the marsblade allows the amount of rocker to be adjustable simply by tightening or loosening the bushing, the same as skateboard trucks. lastly, traditional roller blades only have four wheels so it is impossible to get a perfectly round rocker setup on a static frame by just adjusting the wheel sizes. even with 10 wheels, the transition would never be as smooth as the marsblade. you clearly haven't tried a pair otherwise your opinion would change. by the way i am a Mechanical Engineer and i love every aspect of the Marsblade roller frames. if you want to come up with a cheaper solution that is equally effective be my guest. but in your case wheel rocker will do, even though you have to spend $50-90 on wheels alone to make a wheel rocker setup that wont last. the $200 i spent on the frames is the best investment and hockey relates purchase i have ever made. being able to train anywhere anytime is amazing. Plus the marsblade activates the same muscle groups, traditional roller blades do not. the stride mechanics of tradional roller blading also does not transfer to ice skating, which is why they feel so awkward for hockey players.

until you have tried these you have no idea what a difference having the rocker makes. its not marketing or advertising. I skated in mine yesterday and was blown away! i first played roller in a league 20 years ago as a way to prepare for my upcoming season of junior. trying to transition back to ice was the most uncomfortable practices ever. i didn't touch inline hockey again. i saw these, as a kickstarter i think, and i have been following since. i will be getting these for my kids

It's not going to feel like skating on ice, wheels are never going to glide like ice. That's NOT what they are saying. The movement of the technology is what moves like when you are on ice skates. Rockering your wheels is not going to accomplish the same thing. It will rock. But the wheels don't touch the surface the entire time, so it's not the same. And saving yourself $300? Where do you get that? Try them and you'll see the difference.

Derek Daly I have never played Ice hockey only roller. Would you say these are a good skate for people who want to just use them for roller and don’t need them as a way to help transition from roller to ice?

Short answer: YES! If you've only used roller skates it's going to feel very different. Roller blades are a lot "stiffer" all the way around. First, the wheels stick to the surface, but ice blades don't. They glide, that's why people slip and fall. Marsblades don't change that. As the original poster said, wheels are wheels. What I said in my comment is that it doesn't feel like skating on ice, but the movement of the Marsblade is similar to the way ice skates work. If all you've ever been on is roller, you don't know that movement that comes with the curved ice blade. In a way, it's like if you've only ridden a bike with training wheels. That sounds insulting to roller hockey players, and that's NOT what I'm trying to do. I'm saying there's suddenly a lot more movement when you take the training wheels off of your bike. You can lean, turn tighter, quicker, faster out of turns, take advantage of the physics of the bike. Same with ice skates, same with Marsblades. Simply put, there's a lot more movement when you skate with the Marsblades, so the feeling with your muscles and legs is like it is skating with ice skates.
