Your videos seem to cover my exact needs. Your few videos have covered all the research I've been doing, and honestly, with this level of editing and production quality, you deserve a lot more than 400 subs. I've been looking around for building my second keeb and I originally wanted to try out some nk creams. After I watched your review though, I ended up going for the alpacas. Thanks!

^^^ This guy knows what's up! Seriously, thank you for the kind words. I don't intend to slow down any time soon, just bought a new tripod for overhead shots and better b-roll, so i'm really excited for what I have coming. I'd also like to start streaming builds, if that's something you all would be interested in. ps - great call on those alpacas, you'll love em

@@coleydotmp4 I've done it! My 67LR3 sounds and actually feels better now. The only mods I did was tempest mod and I removed the pcb foam included and replaced it with a thicker PE foam. I already replaced the kbdfans included stabs with some durock v2s smokeys. The last thing I did is I added some strips from stabilizer foam into the plates that come in contact with silicon nubs (still stiff but the removable of the silicone dampener actually added some more flex). Overall, acoustic wise, the tempest mod and the removable of the muting silicone really shone light to my C3 tangerines. It still thoc but the thoc is not the muted kind of thoc. Tbh I really should have just gotten other stabs for this board. I took apart this board and put it back together more times than I want to admit just to fix my backspace. The tape mod is probably my favourite, depending on the board it brings out a unique sound. The rest of the mods are also really interesting but honestly I do kinda like a muted board sometimes. The rest of my small collection all have very distinct sounds, sometimes with no or barely any foam inside. So I guess for me it's just another unique thing about this one. But all in all, great video. You probably took this thing apart more times than I did, and I'm already sick of it. Amazing work!

@coleydotmp4
@coleydotmp4 2 жыл бұрын
I think people dont give enough credit to gaskets for helping the sound. If you're on a board like the mr suit or the ikki68 aurora, then yeah the gaskets influence the typing feel because of all the flex cuts. But this, or even on the Keychron Q1 knob edition I just got, or the KBDfans D65... it's like yeah. you could try holee mod - that might help eliminate rattle for a longer period of time than just jamming a ton of thick lube where the wire ends sit.

I'm gonna be honest: I don't like the new sound that much. PE foam + tape modded keyboards sound all the same, the sound is very dry, simple, doesn't feel like quality. Those are good mods I would recommend to do on very budget keyboards, like prebuilts, but in my opinion the KBD67lite can sound better than that. Anyway, it's a great vid and I absolutely support you. Modding the stabs is a game changer.

@sigmafun3880
@sigmafun3880 2 жыл бұрын
@@jairlopez2209 In my opinion, the easiest way to obtain a deep sound (without drying it with PE foam) is just to use switches with a deep sound signature and SA profile keycaps. If you want to reduce the hollowness, I suggest you to fill the case with silicon: KBDfans sells a bespoke silicon mold for the case, but I think it's sold out, so you can just do a silicon pour. You can also fill it with EVA foam but the sound will be more muted and less thocky.

@coleydotmp4
@coleydotmp4 Жыл бұрын
Yes - tbh, build it stock. haha. The stock config is really quiet because of the silicone. Tape mod makes it pop more. Honestly, build stock + the u4 silents and it should be prettttyyyy quiet.

Tape mod for sure! And if you want the board to be quieter, filling the bottom of the case. I've heard some people were able to do the PE PCB foam mod even with the silicone, so it could be worth a try, or switch pads. Also, change out the stabilizers for sure!!

is the holee mod worth it? A lot of people in discord have been strongly against it saying that it is too mushy, and is a gimmick that youtube creators overhyped. They said lube and balancing is all you need.
@coleydotmp4
@coleydotmp4 Жыл бұрын
Holee mod will break in overtime. it will definitely feel mushy at first. especially if you put in too much material to the stems. If you're using a better stab than the durocks or the KBD stabs from this video, you probably just need to do a solid job lubing and tuning. I've found that the durocks take well to a holee mod once the mod is broken in. But you wouldnt need to do it on a TX stab, for example. it would be overkill. Overhyped? not when everyone was using durocks and cherry stabs. But these days, if you have a higher end stab, youll be fine with just lube. Hope that helps!
