*Things You Missed:* *Syringe Gun:* For whatever reason, Medic only "reloads" the air canister; he never physically replaces the drum that contains the actual needles. There have been people who have made versions of the Syringe Gun based off the Medic's in real life, but as far as I'm aware most of them are not capable of holding 40 needles per drum. Additionally, concept art suggests there was to be some sort of air line that was attached to the underside of the pistol grip. *Blutsauger:* The in-game files indicate there is an unused team-colored projectile the Blutsauger was meant to fire. *Overdose:* The Overdose was originally brought up to the Team Fortress 2 Beta under the very unique and original name, "Beta Syringe Gun". *Crusader's Crossbow:* The festive variants shoot extremely pointy candy-canes. (I wonder if you can taste the peppermint...) *Medi-Gun:* Concept art suggests the Medi-gun has seen virtually no visual changes since it was drawn up (save for the addition of a fore-grip). *Kritzkreg:* According to a Goldrush screenshot, the original name was going to be "Critzcrieg". Interviews with Valve show this weapon very nearly went in a different direction: the original concept was a Medi-Gun modified so it had two nozzles on the end. This version would have allowed for up to 200% overheal (compared to the standard 150%), with said overheal not decaying; in exchange, Uber would have been severely worsened, if not entirely removed. Playtesting didn't apparently go well, and the idea was scrapped. The model of the Kritzkreg (that little attachment on the nozzle) still bears the filename "overhealer". The taunt (Oktoberfest!) was also originally intended for the standard Medi-Gun. *Quick-Fix:* The name "quick fix", referring to hurried or temporary fix for a problem or injury; these solutions may not always work or, even prove ineffective to stopping the problem entirely. This is referenced by the fact that the Ubercharge can still result in the death of both the Medic and his patient if enough damage is taken. The TF2Beta originally titled this weapon as "Megahealer"; a second version of the Quick-Fix also appeared in the Beta, under the name "Beta Quick-Fix". The Beta Quick-Fix was similar, except it had an increased Uber-build rate of 40% (instead of 25%). As for why it managed to produce an Uber in "Meet the Medic", but not in-game: the official explanation is that the Uber feature shorted out after its first use. *Vaccinator:* The version on the workshop was full of a yellow-brown substance (likely coffee), and came in two different styles (one with a black hose, and one with a clear hose that contained more coffee). There was also three separate colored beams that were to be used, with the colored beam indicated the resistance in effect; this was not used and instead the beam is just the standard team-colored one that is also used by the Kritzkreg and the Quick-Fix. MVM also introduced new shield colors for the Two Cities update, which would have served the same purpose (a given color correlated with the resistance in use). Despite there being in-game files for Vaccinator Medic-bots, they are unused. Weirder still is that the weapon they would have used isn't in the game's Item schema; spawning the Medic-bots with the Vaccinator will just simply cancel out _all_ damage from the selected resistance. *Ubersaw:* I̶'̶M̶ ̶G̶O̶I̶N̶G̶ ̶T̶O̶ ̶S̶A̶W̶ ̶T̶H̶R̶O̶U̶G̶H̶ ̶Y̶O̶U̶R̶ ̶M̶E̶-̶D̶I̶C̶. There were a few variations tested in the Team Fortress 2 Closed Beta. (Not to be confused with the Team Fortress 2 Beta.) These featured statistics such as "-25% damage" or "On hit: -20 health". Strangely, taunt-killing a disguised Spy will only yield 50% Uber, instead of the full 100%. One thing to note is that the vial full of liquid fills as Ubercharge increases, and empties as Ubercharge is consumed. (Opinion: This is also my least favorite weapon in the game; it's a BS mechanic that prevents any other Medic melee weapon from being considered a serious choice. I mean, when official guides tell you to kill bind yourself if you see an Ubersaw Medic approaching, instead of just fighting him, you know there's a problem. In my opinion, you should only get the Uber if you get a taunt kill...high risk, high reward.) *Vita-Saw:* The Vita-Saw strongly resembles the ADAM Harvester from the BioShock series. Similar to the Ubersaw, the vial will fill with a team-colored liquid as Uber increases, and drains as Uber decreases *Amputator:* During development, it was going to be called the "Flammenspritze", which translates to "Flame Syringe". Annoyingly enough, I could only find one, poor-quality image of what the concept looked like at this point, but I guess it's better than nothing: static.wikia.nocookie.net/teamfortress/images/5/50/120px-AmpCept.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20131202021354 *Solem Vow:* The name in TF2Beta was "Beta Bonesaw". (Originality up the wazoo...) The publicity blurb says everything: _"Art lovers will cherish the bust of Hippocrates, commemorating a time when the Medic still thought doing no harm was a good idea."_ While I plan on redoing Spy, I'm not certain if I'll redo Sniper or not. (Odds are? Probably.) What I do know is that this entry was _long_ overdue Until next time.

The needles in the needle gun are MASSIVE by any standard, hell getting hit by it would not only be EXCRUCIATING pain but moving around might break the needle depositing the broken fragments in your flesh! If there's any "gun" that breaks the Geneva convention then the needle gun is the ultimate candidate. Also because the quick fix is the medigun we see in the Meet the Medic video, I always assumed (In lore) that the quick fix was an earlier prototype of the medigun, it's even in the name "Quick Fix". I was still pleasantly surprised when I found out the quick fix was just a blender (several years ago).

In the old days, they used to call doctors "old saw bones" because they were always having to perform amputations on wounded soldiers. Even the Engineer will call Medic "saw bones" sometimes And that's also where Leonard McCoy from the original Star Trek got his nickname, "Bones."

extra fact about medigun: The healing beam that shoots its made out of a mixture of blood, jarate, beer, whatever is on the mini healthkits, sandvich and electricity. This is shown on a prototype of "meet the medic" that was published by valve on the official Team Fortress KZfaq channel. Also on that prototype it's shown the origin of the spy head that's in the medic's fridge in the official "Meet the medic"

Fun fact about the Quick-Fix! In the game files its called the Proto-Medigun.. Thats because it very much is the prototype of the medics now Iconic Medigun! Thats why they used it in the Meet the medic, because the Medigun we know now, wasnt made then!

Should have mentioned that the Kritzkrieg contains a bottle of Jarate in the barrel attachment. Also the Quick Fix was used in the "Meet the Medic" video, but was able to uber instead of quick fix uber during the SFM.

IIRC, the syringe gun was originally a needle gun, which was gonna be the primary for scout in some early versions

Crossbows also had the problem of being painfully slow by comparison. Watching these videos makes you realize "Oh, that's just another weapon with some sort of attachment."

Simply many medics weapons especially overdose are modified counterparts to real life stuff. The Barrel exists for Micro minigun effect

Another fun fact about the Quick Fix, it was Medic’s ASSUMABLY first medi-gun. Which may explain why Meet The Medic’s Quick Fix and the in-game Quick Fix work entirely different. This can also be assumed due to the deleted scenes that were planned to be used in Meet The Medic that shows the Medic working with the Blu Spy’s head to make the item. Whether or not this is fact worthy is up to you, it’s still pretty neat to see how the Medic’s healing has downgraded in style. Oh well.

I see one problem with this video - you forgot to mention about Vita-Saw being inspired by ADAM extractors (design) and Vita-Chambers (name and function) from Bioshock.

You should've said the cooler on the overdose could be a reference to either Black Marketers Selling organs using a cooler to cool it... (sounds like something Medic would do) or It being a small sized Coleman Cooler...

The spike on top of amputator has been inspired by the helments used by germans in ww1. As you can see, it looks like a very flat helmet.
