Great Video! you captured the essence of the Airport, Transit, and Flight. I was fortunately able to have tried both of their JFK and LAX non-stops before they were discontinued. Those flights were extremely convenient and time saving. Have yet to try the LAX-ICN-BKK flight, and will most definitely compare!

Tom J - For some reason, I'm not able to reply to your comment directly but the answer to your question is that load factors on this flight was about 80% BKK-ICN, 70% ICN-LAX, 60% LAX-ICN, and 95% ICN-BKK.

As the new 777-300s arrive, they are outfitted with the new business class seats.

Glad you enjoyed the video. Different airlines and airports have their own rules but generally there are few restrictions except in security and immigration (at airports) and during takeoff and landing (aboard the aircraft, which I obviously disregarded).

What a really beautiful interior in their planes, and elegant uniforms on the flight attendants. Thai Airways must be a great experience. I'm sure Thailand is also.

Thai is definately the most lively and color full airlines I have traveled with. I know its not a 5 star airlines, but I find it much better than other so called 5 star airlines like malaysian and singapore.

I love Thai Airways's Boeing 777 with 3-3-3 Configuration. My flight back to Australia was Emirates's 777 with 3-4-3. It was terrible small seat. It's ok to do 3-4-3 with A380 and 747 not 777 :(

I didn't know they already changed Business class seat to new 180 full-flat type on 777. Last time I flew LAX-ICH-BKK and vice-versa in business last year, it was still 170 angled-flat seat. I am going to fly Thai 380 this november from BKK to NRT. Can't wait to try their new seat on brand new big plane :-)

You are welcome. I did not have to pay for accessing the lounges but that is because I have a "United Club" membership, which allows reciprocal access to other Star Alliance member lounges. As for the 110v outlets, in economy class they are located between seats down by your legs. Not a very convenient location but at least they are there and they work!

Yes, it seems like their load factor is usually pretty low.

Any Star Gold member can access other Star Alliance member lounges on the same day of an international Star Alliance flight. As for NYC, I don't see TG adding a flight to EWR. UA and TG discontinued code sharing about a year ago because UA and NH now have a joint venture across the Pacific. Without code sharing, TG receives only nominal feed from UA.

Thanks, I have been waiting for someone to post this new flight from LAX I travel every year to Nepal and I loved Thai's direct flight arriving BKK 6 am for a perfect connection time of 4 hours, now its 10 but at least Thai's putting me up in a hotel, I am curious to what seat number you had on the LAX landing? as I have 60A the first row in the back cabin. another thing, I know drinks are free but if they were not I think that guy at 5:25 would have been more than happy to buy u one..he he.

How long is the layover in ICN?

I prefer the 2-5-2 layout myself, unless you get stuck in that middle seat. But these days so many carriers are going to 3-4-3 on the Boeing 777, that I guess we have to be thankful that THAI *only* has 3-3-3!

I'm not sure if the same apply to a Royal Orchid frequent flyer accessing a United Club or Air Canada Maple leaf lounge?, but overall a good trip report back to the United States and I think TG will go back to NYC/LA with BKK-EWR/LAX since TG can use UA feed from both airports

As an economy passenger, how much do you have to pay to access the that airways lounges? or is it because you have a certain club membership? Because i have a 7 hour stop over and i'd like to access the lounge, so thinking if i can do that.

I love to fly thai their seat usually empty so I got 4 seat by my self :)

The camera I used - a Lumix LX3 - has pretty good image stabilization. Also, processed the clips in iMovie before editing, so most of the motion was smoothed out.

LOL, im flying from sydney to bangkok on emirates soon..... But since im a fairly small guy, i will see how things go and compare things with thai airways (whenever i go to bangkok, i usually go with thai airways, but my parents found a pretty good deal with emirates, so were flying with them this time)

Can't say I'm a fan of 3-4-3 on any plane, but definitely it fits better in the wider cabin of an A380 or 747 than it does on the 777. Same way with the 787 - 8-abreast is reasonable but 9-abreast is crazy.

TG did a nonstop flights between LAX and BKK.

Was there another meal option except the stir fried pork with thai rice?

Not sure THAI's 32" of pitch qualifies as "5 star" considering it is pretty much the industry standard. Asiana, ANA's new economy product, and Korean Air all offer 34" in long-haul economy and EVA offers 33".
