My 2JZ Nissan 240sx s13 has given me amazing memories...and a lot of bad ones. From the very start I made the mistake of buying a shell that was in terrible condition, and overlooked the most important thing in a project car when it comes to function - the wiring. Bad wiring has damaged this car more times than I can count, and thankfully today we are starting from 100% scratch. By switching over to a Link Fury standalone ECU and also wiring specialties brand new body harness for the S13 - this should be an absolute game changer to finally work towards the perfect 2JZ S13. Restoring a car is no joke - but we are in it for the long run. So is building a 240sx a mistake? I'll let you know at the end of the year.

You are absolutely correct, they were supposed to be "throw-away" cars, just like lee ia-co-ca(no idea spelling) the guy that took over and rejuvenated Chrysler corporation back in the day did with a bunch of their models- turned them into throwaway's!!

Yea, this old electrical stuff (1991 300ZX) is painful. Seems like every time I touch it, something breaks, oxidiation in the wires, etc., etc.... And I touched a lot of wiring during my Haltech install. One of my future projects is to build a harness for (1) for it to be new and (2), be rid of all the excess I don't need anymore (EGR, narrowband O2, etc.,etc.). C'mon, man! The Z32 ain't that bad!! Wait, yes it is, I'm just numb to it now. Good stuff David. I'll be emailing once I get everything done and tuned - E85 FTW.

Video was great. I got to see everything I have done the last 5 months since I got my 240. Problem is mine is still a single jingle ka. Also I got to relive my last 5 months in 15mins and I'm pretty sure I have PTSD from every night in my garage.

I honestly liked how you showed how good your cleaner is. There's a ton of cleaning products out there and I've been apprehensive about ordering your stuff cause it's like "I can just buy whatever down at the store. Who's to say his is any better?" That kinda shows how quick and easy it is to clean with your products. If you could get stores like AutoZone or Advanced to carry your products and reach people who've never heard of you, it would probably not only expand your KZfaq following but make an absolute fortune.

It is nice to see youtube car guys with amazing cars have issues like all the rest of us, it makes us all feel like we're in the same sinking boat. Although if i were David i would've cried if i saw all those wires that i had to redo, reroute, and figure out where everything went. Wiring is every car guys weakness and its something that i will hopefully never encounter, on this kind of scale.

Damn, your fuel tank sending unit cover looks way better than mine did when I pulled it out. Mine was sooooo rusty on top... Everything inside the tank looked brand new, though. Ah the automatic seatbelts... I can't tell you how many times I've smacked my head into them, or how many times those things have tried to choke me when I've had the shoulder belts attached... They're kind of a unique and neat feature, and they probably were relatively safe so long as you were just getting in an out of the car normally, but those things have attacked me countless times over the years...

Is not rocket science to build a 2JZ and make it reliable, the problem usually comes from what is controlling it, as in, old crusty wiring.

@@BigFatCaulk lol, too funny😆! Having worked in the marine trade for many years i remember some truly SCARY "CUSTOM" wiring jobs😅😂😆 One genius used household receptacles, solid core 14/2 house wire, and of course wire nuts and wall plugs for his marine electronics.. it was AWESOME!! oh, and there was another, an aluminum boat, that shocked the hell out of ya if touching the steering wheel, throttle, helm, and anything else metal(everything basically!)!! He had used the steering helm directly as a ground and something else that i believe was giving ya electricity from one of the ignition coils on the outboard motor!!! That thing REALLY HURT!!

40 amps is a lot of amperage for a fuel pump especially with the options available on the market these days, i would recommend looking into brushless fuel pumps. There are plenty of options out there that could support your power goals and it is much less taxing on wiring even on full tilt

I had an s13 fastback once upon a time. I threw a ton of cash into the car didn't s15 front end swap with all C-West parts. Had the factory KA24DE. It was a factory 5-speed car was a very clean car that I bought in Kansas. I completely redid the interior and had the exterior resprayed. Was preparing for an LS swap when my wife got pregnant with our fourth child. On top of that the economy started to tank hours got cut at my job and money started really getting scarce. I ended up selling the car for less than 2 grand so that we didn't lose our house. I had hundreds of hours in it and well over $12,000 invested. I had had it up for sale for a while and hadn't really got any serious bites I ended up having to sell it super cheap just to get the cash to keep a roof over our heads. It was one of the hardest things that I've ever had to do. But I am also grateful that we didn't end up on the street or living out of my s13 and my wife's car. 😂
