This trick is "slicker'n owl shit". THANK YOU! I used a ratchet strap. I just wish I knew how to replace a simmons head to another manufacturer.. There are no simmons heads in my region since the suprise freeze last night..

it would be nice to have one of those, but our frost line is too deep i would need a crazy deep trench to bury pipe.

Brian, ive seen a number of these at the scrap yard, and i suspect that some were the result of upgrades, while others that aren't very old, are probably because of new owners not understanding how and why they are important, particularly in the colder times of the year in northern climates. Some of them are also bent, which means a couple of things, like the hydrant wasn't seen when backing up, or maybe something caught the hose and it got pulled hard.

I could totally see someone hitting one with all kinds of equipment on the farm and not a bright color. Bet that’s the major issue.

I believe you can replace the rubber plunger at the end of the rod if not the whole rod assembly.

Here in Western Washington State, what is the "safe burial depth" for water lines? I plan on adding two "remote spickets" for my Garden and Memorial Garden so I do not have to constantly ravel/unravel my garden hose the 150' for Irrigation. As I reside in East Port Orchard, WA I assume that you would know these details!

We have an 18in frost line. I usually bury lines at 2ft. Then at the hydrant itself go down another 1ft and put gravel in the hole to set your hydrant on that way it will drain. That is a lot of hose to unravel for sure.

What brand and size lever chain hoist are you using: 5 ft drop 550 lbs? I need to get one for the stuck head on my hydrant.

Husband broke it off of the little pipe in the center. Any hope of fixing it or do we need to dig it out?
@ThatFixItGuy

of you have the manufacturer you can remove that head and the rod should still come out with it. If not is will be free floating in there. turn the water on and it will come one.
