Hey Joshua, great work on the Fitness Test, it is certainly not easy! You crushed it, and are setting yourself up for success in your upcoming race. Thanks for sharing the COROS Fitness Test with your audience! 💪

Thank you! This was really hard but a great test to see where I’m currently at and how I can improve!

We have similar hr zones/maxes and fitness. So I’m going to go ahead and skip this fitness test. I’ll piggy back off yours and give myself a 93 also. Way to go, us!

I highly recommend this route 😂 this fitness test was hard and for two fitness points, not worth it haha.

@@coreyadcock well, we all know I’m really a 💯, according to my 4 year old anyway. But then he also said SONIC was much faster than me and he’s not wrong

Good job! I haven't done the running fitness test for a while, My current running score is 91.5. Maybe I'll do one sometime next week and see if it changes!

Definitely should! Your running fitness is probably a lot higher. And thank you!

My problem with the coros is that it won’t necessarily understand your workouts and sometimes it’ll give you a “low” performance rating when you just had a crazy workout and that can be unpleasant or unencouraging while training
@joshuaxruns
@joshuaxruns 6 ай бұрын
I would agree to an extent. But if you are getting a low performance score then I would look into all your metrics to see what caused the low score. Most likely something is causing that low performance. Maybe pace compared to HR? You can also reach out to the coros coaches to see if they can evaluate your performance.

Great effort! If Coros' goal is accuracy rather than ego boosting, they should revisit their algorithms. If a runner feels smoked after 3.7miles @6:46, .5miles @5:57 & .5miles @5:49 on a track...they aren't holding near 6:23 for 13.1 or 6:38 for 26.2. It also has current threshold at 6:13...way too ambitious. Regardless, thanks for sharing...you create fun content!

Thank you! I agree that the algorithm for the marathon prediction may be a little off. As for the threshold pace, I believe I could hold a 6:13 for 20-30 minutes in current state so that may not be far off.
@Strizzle81

@@joshuaxruns Threshold pace is typically best avg pace that can be sustained for 60min. A 15k or 10mile race would be ideal to establish threshold pace.

Hey there! Thank you for your comment. Our COROS Coaches did a bit of a deep dive on Josh's data after reading your comment. Given how fast Josh is, and of course assuming specificity of training is appropriate for the race distance, Josh should be able to run a half marathon just a bit slower than his threshold as the duration is 80+ minutes. Many runners at this pace are running very high tempo (aerobic power) and creeping into their threshold often during the distance. For the marathon and the pace Josh runs, athletes generally sit in their Aerobic Power/Tempo zone throughout, while touching threshold in specific areas (key sections or near the end). Again, this all assumes proper training for the demands of the race, but based on plenty of research and past performances, these numbers should be within 3-5% given the uncontrollable factors of weather, nutrition, known training, etc. We hope this helps provide further insight.

@@Strizzle81 that would depend on what source you are using to define threshold pace. A quick google search gives me 5+ different answers on what threshold pace should be and for what duration. I am going off of coros reference of threshold pace which is recommended at ~30 min duration.

@@joshuaxruns nice! I’m also self coached! You should look into the Run Elite KZfaq channel. Super informational, very digestible. He explains a lot of things in plain English. There’s some stuff on there I think you would benefit from, in terms of understanding physiological changes and training along with periodization of training. The part that got me thinking this was when you mentioned that you had only been doing “base mileage” and I think that’s probably the most misunderstood part of endurance development. Everyone thinks of it in terms of the pyramid and running a lot of easy miles with maybe some strides here and there. Run Elite, and also actual elite runners, treat base work as the extremes of paces. Including both easy, slower mileage and the fast 5k+ pace work that you won’t ever really touch during marathon/half marathon training yet it’s still important to develop those muscle groups
