Nate you should wear a mask when making these videos and make it a weekly thing also I mean doing one of these videos Make a poll on different mask designs and wear that mask I'm thinking Kane style mask but get some designs done that you like and do a poll on 3 or 4 of those masks wear the one that's the winner in these videos also we need smoke in the background for these videos with darker colours just overall different setting Maybe even some neon lights with broken effects like broken KZfaq logo or neon sign with down arro that flickers like it's broken Do your intro with your normal self and let it transition into the alter ego Nate roasting when I mean normal self your regular set and that and when it transition into the roast set

One tip I use for folks using background music in the video is “subtractive EQ.” Put a vocal EQ setting on you voice audio and then put that same EQ setting on the music, BUTTTTT reverse all the settings. This creates a space for your vocals to sit so that they always stand out and the music better sits under that voice track. Hope this is helpful!

VERY helpful...I never thought of it. I thought of using compassion to "duck" the music during words. But this is the other step, thanks!
@FramingTheNarrative
@FramingTheNarrative 6 ай бұрын
You'll need a plugin that can do this, but if you want to go an extra step, you might even reduce the "center" of the stereo space in your background music, and maybe even widen it a bit. That way not only does your voice have its own space in the frequency spectrum but the stereo spectrum as well. I've found by combining the two you can bring the energy of the music up considerably without drowning out the clarity of what you're saying.

I think a good reason for that too is that a lot of times are KZfaq is set up to play the next to the automatically and if we don't decide what we want to see next it does it for us. When we know there's an outro coming, we quickly jump into deciding our next video instead.

I have learned enough from you over the years that I don't do "like, subscribe, comment, etc." but what I cannot keep myself from doing is saying "HELLO" at the beginning of the video! (I actually say "hi folks!") Maybe its just the nice midwesterner in me that HAS to welcome someone into a room. Maybe the solution is to script yourself saying hello....knowing that you are going to cut that out or move it a bit later in the video. So you can turn the camera on, say hello to get it out of your system, and still follow Nate's rules. :) Thanks for a great video!

I definitely need to work on my intros and outros (or rather, work on not doing them), but one thing I do think I have been doing ok is my eye contact. I film without being able to see myself at all, so there is no temptation to be watching myself or straightening my hair etc, I’m just looking straight at the lens.

I was just thinking after watching this: This video feels a bit like a half time pep talk of a good coach who encourages his team to up their efforts in a motivating way. It feels like: Let's keep this talk short so that the team has more time to invest in their own preparations and plans. There is no benefit in a talk that goes on and on and on. Well balanced timing here!

Yes! Music you hear on an album or on a tv show - was mastered. This means it’s been calibrated to sound well on multiple devices! For each of my videos, I set the music at what I think is the appropriate level. Then I export the video. THEN I send it to my phone. Then I play it on my phone. The music is always more quiet on my phone. So for me I usually go back to the computer and turn the volume UP. Music is a very interesting thing. In fact sometimes when my music is too quiet, my video sounds LOUD. That’s because you have to turn the volume up high to hear everything. Which results in my vocals being way too loud. In fact by increasing the music volume, the viewer can listen to the video at a lower volume while having everything sound equal. So don’t forget to test your audio and play it back! Music on albums has been MIXED and MASTERED.

Over the years I found that being genuine goes a long way. I do occasionally ask people to like my videos at the end if I feel like it fits in, and other times I'll recommend a similar video and give a reason why they should watch it, and that seems to work incredibly well. Now, a lot of the time I just end my videos by wishing people a good day and I have a feeling that gets them press the like button more than asking them to press the like button... It was confusing at first, because so many people talk about calls to action, but the implementation isn't as easy as just asking for people to do something. Especially asking someone to subscribe is kind of...intrusive. I want people to make that decision themselves.

If it fits the narrative then that's ok... your explaining something and say "there's link is in the description" or "put your question in the comments" .. not announcing but in a conversational form. People who point down to the description or comments (or buttons) seems demeaning.. as if I'm that stupid. A channel that I occasionally watch got the 100k Playbutton.. To a question in the comments.. they replied that they have never begged for L&S Maybe a little extreme.. Another big No... Is muzak.. Particularly the repetitive ting ting... I can think of several really good channels.. content and presentation.. That still have low views and LSC .. When I raised the issue well over a year ago with one channel.. they said they liked it .. (at least they responded..
