The 10 biggest LEGO sets retiring in 2024

A lot of LEGO sets will be retiring by the end of 2024, but some of them are bigger than others. These are the ten largest sets by piece count that will no longer be manufactured by December 31.
Some of these sets, such as 71741 NINJAGO City Gardens, are no doubt going to become hotly sought-after collector's items in years to come. Others, such as 76262 Captain America's Shield, also exist.
As a reminder, we will torture Matthew by making him open his copy of the retiring 76218 Sanctum Sanctorum if this channel makes it to 100,000 subscribers before the end of the year.

to save space as someone with a rule of only collecting the star wars ships i love, i did break that rule for the cantina because of the figs. they're all great but the garindan spy was the final straw lol

Thanks for the video! I am skeptical that the Batman shadowbox will retire. That is a REALLY short shelf life. Hope it sticks around!

Spent over a year trying to get a hold of a Loop Coaster, and every time, been out of stock. But as I was at a Lego exhibition last weekend, there was one right there knowing it was going home with me at the shop at the end of said exhibition. They always like to try and sell you more Lego at these things

Some sets retire too quick Two years should be the minimum Lego has been retiring sets after less than a year or two. CMFs are the worst in this respect Popular sets like the treehouse and medieval blacksmith should stay on shelves for longer

yeah.... when there are so many expensive sets they need some time to sell... Its hard to keep up with the relevant stuff I want, much less something I would be on the verge of if had more time to possibly save up.

Issue is lego sales aren't growing quick enough post pandemic. So they are churning and burning big sets. It feels overwhelming now

@@clarksmith8830 From my understanding they take couple of years to design and produce so with all those pandemic sales thought they could produce the big sets maybe... but now that there is not a big flow of money to the economy like there was it may take some time to catch up with a line of smaller sets hopefully? Man I really want there to be a classic castle line of the quality of the Lions knight castle with a range of sets... I just got the medieval market... it could have been expanded a little and made into 3 sets. Which I think would help with sales rather than one big set.... but also I think the GWP marteting is not helping them since now they make the GWP so good that sales are all centered around it. I held out as long as I could to get a relevant GWP for the market but ended up just selling the fruit shop to help ease the cost. We will see what happens when/ if they make a good classic castle remake. and baradur... oh no.... i might want that one... no no no~

@@jacobelmslie3862 for gwp, they are now making probably otherwise retail releases into gwp. And really pumping those expensive collector sets. Look at star wars. Themes like marvel pushing out ucs size sets for past few years and loading them with minifigures. They are really trying to entice people to buy as much as possible

Before I even finished the video, I was very set on making a comment complaining about short life cycle of LEGO sets in recent years (and whilst I believe that holds true for many sets)... five years for the tree set, huh...? Wow! I'm glad to know that some sets can have such a long life, but I wish cheaper, regular sets would remain on the shelf longer.

Mos Eisley Cantina is a fantastic set for Star Wars fans. Nice builds and sooo many minifigures. Sad to see this go but fortunately I have this already in my collection.

Thanks for putting this video together, I just bought the lego tree house. But bought it through ebay as cheaper, and none of the new sets were on offer at the moment anywhere... as I wanted it now!

I never liked the shape of the Lego At-Ats till the 2019 version. Got it and loved it. Then later I found out about the UCS. Got it. Love it too.🤠

Just a note for the hulkbuster if anyone is still on the fence about getting it, a bloke called Ransom Fern has done an alternate build using all the same pieces (it even still fits the iron man buildable figure) which makes it look about a hundred times better than the official version.

If I had to pick one it would be the cantina. What a great set with fantastic figures. The ninjago set is gorgeous though. Ninjago is a fantastic theme.

My 11 year old wanted the treehouse build. It was too much of an investment for his age and attention span, so we bought a Flego version off of temu or whatever for a fraction of the price. It falls apart as easy as looking at it, and I can't help but wonder if the real Lego one is as fragile

I expected to see Lion Knight's Castle on this list. Is it not retiring in 2024? I plan to get it on a double VIP points day and I'm concerned it will just disappear before I get a chance.

According to the latest update Lion Knights' Castle isn't slated for retirement until 2025, so there's a bit more time (but the schedule does shift around from time to time so that's not set in stone).

The only set on that list I have interest in is the Sanctum and I bought that late last year when it was on sale. 😅

Out of that list, the only mention would be for tree house. As old as it is, and even after finding franchise lego which dilutes generic lego to pointlessness especially with limited space.. the ideas tree house has remained untouchable in its awesomeness from the day it was launched. Probably why they sold it for so long. My only regret is not picking up a "backup" copy on amazon when they had it for $170 AUD!! a few years ago.

Hammerhead minifig????? BRB.. checking BrickLink!!!!!! 😲 Edit: that was from the thumbnail.. now, I MUST have the cantina set!!!! I knew of the set, but never looked at it in detail. Wow, the 80s kid in me now NEEDS this!!! Also already got the Ninjago City Center set.. unopened.. for investment.. but now I've started watching the show (up to S8), I kinda wanna keep it!!

The Hogwarts Express CE was a set I'd long wanted Lego to make and I dont regret my purchase one bit. I will say I could have lived without the station build, I dont even have that part built anymore, but the train is phenomenal.
