The drills work. Moved my stance a good bit farther away from the ball though not to the full straight arm position a la Mo Norman. Afterwards video shows that my clubbed was perfectly on plane in back and through swing, my overall motion was "freer," and I gained accuracy / distance. Also slo-mo videoed my lead foot and, sure enough, I was drifting onto the forefoot from transition through impact working to eliminating that. The first person to point out how complex the modern golf swing is was Jack Kurkendall ( who also brought Moe Norman to national recognition) he pointed out with a traditional set up all golfers had to move back and up to allow the club to expand through impact. He advocated the same set up as you but with a particular grip style in the trail hand. Your ideas on the heels is new however as are the drills you have developed. Jack pointed out even the best pro’s only hit 75% of fairways due to the difference between set up and impact.

Standing further away from the ball and swinging from your heels will be magic pills for most average golfers!

Would turning the lead foot perpendicular to the target line help keep weight into the lead heel at impact and off the lead forefoot?

What you’re suggesting is the single plane it seems. Sort of a takeaway of Moe Norman. I think the guy that teaches it is Kirk Jounge or something like that… I’ve been working some on this. I’m nearing 70. So my flexibility isn’t what it used to be. Arthritis in my fingers, especially my right hand, has altered my grip somewhat. Been trying different Jumbomax grips.

With setup and not standing too close to the ball, is that the same for wedges and pitching as well?

What kind of driver do you use?

Most pros reach with driver, Trevino didn’t reach with a wedge, there’s the difference
