We finally got a chance to drive GMC’s new fully electric super truck! The WTF launch control is appropriately named and this truck is insane, excessive, and in-your-face at the same time. Yup, it’s a Hummer. 😂

As cool as these things are, I really am going to worry once they are more popular and in hands of less skilled drivers. Imagine this 9,000lbs behemoth T-boning your small car after the driver couldn't handle the acceleration.

@@richardnavratil9661 You came here just to share this again? This same theory can be applied to anything that weighs 3+ tons and has an accelerator whether it’s a battery powered electric vehicle or ICE product full of flammable gasoline. Furthermore, less skilled drivers are already on the roads - some of which are in Tesla Model X Plaids that _don’t_ have 106 mph limiters. Hummer with all its safety tech is the least of your worries. Please HANG IT UP already sir.

As a GM guy I’m genuinely impressed by the Hummer twins. It feels like not long ago we were watching the reveal of this truck. GMC did a great job bringing the concept to production and the idea of this Edition 1 to life. For this to be their first generation, I’m excited for the future more efficient EVs! 😁

GM just changed what it means to be an EV. For years all we've heard is drag reduction (making the body and wheels ugly), weight reduction (making the interior look like an empty closet), and coding nerds needed to squeeze every electron for max efficiency. GM said forget all that isht: just make the thing have a battery big enough to power a battleship and you don't need to worry about drag or weight or efficiency. Make it how we WANT it, not how it "has to be". GDF'ing right. That is 'Murica!

With vehicles like these with 9,000lbs weight that can accelerate this insanely T-boning your car at an intersection. I'm glad the NHTSA is (albeit slowly) increasing the size and weight of their test vehicles, since vast majority of people drive large SUVs now. To that commenter that chickened out and deleted a comment they left on two of my posts, one of them saying: "This same logic can be applied to anything that weighs over 2 tons with a accelerator whether electric or full of flammable gasoline. Please HNAGBITBUP already." (yes, word for word, I assume they meant "hang it up"). My response is yes, there are dump trucks and other trucks of larger weights, but those require a CDL. I.e. a specialized license that goes beyond regular driver's ed. If you can't see the difference between that and something a freshly licensed driver at 16-17 can pick up and drive off the lot immediately versus someone that just gone through CDL schooling, then there's no explaining this to you.

This vehicle is a convertible and a truck so the material have to be able to sustain the elements even for short periods of time. That said, it is possible to add more sound deadening materials to the wheel wells and use double laminated roof panel. The bad part would be having to lift them when you want to remove then, not to mention adding even more overall weight to an already ponderous vehicle.

@@brianwinkler8183 Sure you wouldn’t, _that_ must be why you took the time to respond to Kyle, right?. Lol. This Hummer EV will recharge within a matter of minutes too, and has built in Google software/maps to get you to the nearest fast charger which will cost you less money than refueling that 36 gallon tank at $5 per gallon in the Ford - so what’s your point? The Raptor is far less appealing to look at, far less appealing to sit inside of, the Ford is slower, smaller, less powerful, and has far less capability regardless of which mode you’re in or what kinda terrain you’re on.
@brianwinkler8183
@brianwinkler8183 2 жыл бұрын
@@mybro727 where are those fast charge stations where you’re using all that power and capability???? Also, it takes at least 45 minutes to get enough range to be worthwhile. You conveniently forget there’s little to no infrastructure outside of cities. I’m not envious of anything that impractical…no good reason to be. It’s a pig that’ll need $30k worth to replace the battery pack when they need replacement.
@mybro727
@mybro727 2 жыл бұрын
@@brianwinkler8183 Why would the entire battery pack need replacement when GM has designed a pack with individual interchangeable modules specifically so that they can be replaced individually if need be which was literally covered in the review? Define “worthwhile”. Where are you getting 45 mins from? Again, not on a DCFC it doesn’t take anywhere near an hour to get a decent charge. You’re making things up. Perhaps you’re unaware of the sheer size of this battery pack. It’s going to take a bit more time to charge it vs. If you were at the pump draining your wallet for a beast of this scale. You kind of understand that walking into the dealership. This is clearly not the trim level for the most practical & efficient Hummer EV money can buy - it’s literally the fully loaded top of the line *Edition 1.* It’s essentially the same as buying a Cadillac Escalade V and complaining about the fuel economy and practicality for the price point - not exactly the point of that particular trim level. Practicality and efficiency aren’t usually the priorities for any range topping fully loaded trim model of any vehicle, they _are_ expensive, full of innovative bells & never before seen whistles. Lastly, there are *many* people including myself, who live around, nearby, and even _inside_ of cities. Believe it or not, not everyone lives deep in the woods. If you do you still have the option of driving into that city where you purchase your new cars as you have over 300+ miles of range on a full charge. No real limits there if you re-check the fast charger infrastructure again. I won’t list the fast charger stations and their addresses across the U.S. and Canada off the top of my head, but I’m sure the Google assistant has time and wouldn’t mind assisting - that’s what _it’s_ for.

@@mybro727 what a blathering soliloquy…anyways, having “bro” in your KZfaq handle is appropriate, considering who will be fans of this deliberate excess, your logic trying to justify the price is laughable. Cost should include capabilities and practicality, especially for the size. You’re making excuses, and no I’m not making things up about charge time, or the cost of battery replacement. Should it matter if it’s replaced as a whole or cumulatively? No, because it more than offsets any perceived savings vs ICE. Nice try. With the typical distracted and aggressive driver out there today, all the more common amongst the very wealthy and entitled, these massive trucks will be responsible for many deaths and injuries with common accidents against normal sized vehicles.

I generally despise Hummers but GM has really made this new version hard not to like. love the overall "desert truck" stance. for the $110k MSRP the tech and battery is almost a bargain. even if could buy one, ironically it would never fit in my garage NOR my driveway. this is the REAL tri-motor Cybertruck.

Another great Redline Review, this time of AOC's dream truck..... because I am sure she will think this somehow advances her cause. But it is a cool vehicle. Not exactly my cup of tea but what fun would life be if we all wanted the same thing?

He clearly seems disappointed in comparison to his Lightning Pro review. Hilarious that Rivian hasn't allowed him to review the R1T...i sense he'd take it down for not having a ton of features for the price. But I'd love to see it..

Does this thing have 20in brembos? I don't see 9,200lbs stopping at a decent amount of distance at highway speeds. Hell, a dually only goes up to 6,000lbs, this thing will be dangerous on the road.
