I still think that life expectancy is absurd considering that new troops have to be brought in via months long travel via the Warp. You'd run out of soldiers before the replacements could get in. Further proving that GW writers are clueless to all things military. I have read that the average life expectancy of a soldier in WW2 was 3 weeks. If you were a green newbie new in a unit. If you survived those 3 weeks however life expectancy went up dramatically to potentially surviving the war. Interestingly, the longer your unit was in combat, the worse it started to perform, as veterans start to become more interested in surviving the war then winning a battle. The famous Desert Rats division had seen combat since 1940 up to 1945, the most experienced British tank division to land in Normandy, and also the one that performed worst throughout the 1944-45 campaign. You can see it in the Band of Brothers series as well. All gung ho and brave in the 1st half of the series and increasingly more traumatized and risk averse after the Battle of the Bulge.

@Chaptermaster Pedro Kantor I'm guessing you're right, much like the size of battles having millions of combatants, but covering a whole planet. However to play devils advocate if you start out with say 4 billion guard soldiers and 1 billion die in the first 15 hours regardless of how long the other 3 billion make it your average life expectancy is going to be low. This is the same reason why up until like the early 1900s the average life expectancy I'm the US was 50 or some shit. Because thousands of kids died from disease and malnutrition every year.

They get to be the fuel for the God-Emperor apotheosis into the Star Father when He finally allows Himself to die & His soul is rejoined in the Warp.

It's why even Cathedral Worlds have no effect upon the surrounding Warp even with a whole planet dedicated to nothing but worshipping the God-Emperor... the Star Child is just hoovering all of that up. The God-Emperor is doing intentionally what the Eldar did unintentionally with Slaanesh... except instead of tens of millions of years for Slaanesh apotheosis to reach a critical mass to trigger, the God-Emperor is doing it in 11,000 years with a much wider population pool (even if each individual human is worth less than each individual Eldar.)

Chaos is only one realm in the Warp, there are still other entities such as Enslavers, Grael, and possibly even the Emperor EDIT: Oh, and also the BS those space furries made up to explain their totally-not-psyker powers

The Warp does not necessarily consist only of the realms of Chaos. I think the notion that it is, is propaganda that people have just come to believe on a meta level.

I had a theory that agron was intended to be the moral compass and emotional support of the primarchs, essentially the pacifist primarch. He keeps the peace, and helps the others deal with their trauma.

But The Nemean apparently led a war band of black shields during the siege of terror, then went on to do other stuff. So when epimetheus claimed he had no name during his induction to grey knights, could he have actually been someone else? Which to me, says that maybe Cypher is actually The Nemean, hiding his face because of how scarred it became during rangdan xenocide 3, and whoever became epimetheus is another pivitil Dark Angel altogether

Every other theory prior to The Buried Dagger about who might become Epimetheus related to DA who explicity had actual true names. Cypher at the time of the HH in 30K was Zahariel El'Zurias, who may or not be the current Cypher in 40K, and who used to be a theory candidate for the identity of Epimetheus, before The Buried Dagger indicated The Nemean is Epimetheus (and there is no route by which Zahariel could have become a Knight-Errant and one of the nine who are named). There are no other DA Knights-Errant we know of who could have become Epimetheus other than The Nemean. There is an exchange between a Lord of Change and Epimetheus in Pandorax, where the Lord of Change recognises Epimetheus as a DA from when Chaos was trying to divide the legion prior to the HH, and is incredulous because he is supposed to be dead. That ties into HH 1st edition black book six, which says it is implied the Nemean's service ended and culminated on the walls of the palace during the Siege of Terra - that appears to be misdirection spread by Malcador to imply the Nemean died, but in fact his service as the Knight-Errant The Nemean ended, and he was born anew as the Grey Knight Epimetheus. As of Pandorax, the DAs still had The Nemean down as an unaccounted for Fallen, which is a bit unfair because he never sided with Luther, he just led the Dark Brotherhood Black Shields out of the circumstance of the shattered legions and necessity during the Pale Stars conflict, then became a Knight-Errant when there was no news about Lion El'Jonson, and then a Grey Knight. The theory Majorkill mentions that Epimetheus is the pythosian psyker Abaddon traded to Fulgirm was probably intended to be implied by the Black Legion codex writers, but requires substantial retconning of the timeline about when Abaddon went of his grand tour to get the chaos primarchs' favour, because his tour around the primarchs happened when Abaddon was in exile, hundreds of years before he captured Epimetheus on Pandorax in 961.M41. There's only one other possible psyker I am aware of, Rhydia Erephren, an Iron Hands astropath in the Damnation of Pythos, who is described as collapsing and falling still, in a way to kind of imply she dies, but could maybe not have died and somehow ended up in Abaddon's custody and ended up being traded to Fulgrim, but that's a stretch, much more likely the Black Legion codex writers intended Epimetheus but just didn't have their timeline straight.
