FAQ:
Why ‘the religious hippie?’
It was a nickname my friends gave me when I was in highschool because I dressed like a hippie and was a ‘wild child’, when I came back into my faith they thought ‘the religious hippie’ was now a more appropriate nickname and it stuck!
How old are you? Currently 24, my birthday is April 8th.
Who is your favorite saint? Saint Francis of Assisi

In my teenage years I shared the same problem Saint Augustine had. When I converted to Catholicism almost Seven Years ago. I now fully understand the errors of my old self more clearly. Lust is a dangerous vice and mortal sin. The Eucharist and praying the rosary is how you defeat it.

I thought this was the case for me. Unfortunately, I've come to understand that I just have a low libido, and wasn't as faithful as I thought I was. But when the temptation strikes, I am weak like many. While I confessed my sin as soon as possible, I still feel the urges. I no longer feel spiritually unclean, but the battle has still been intense, and I fear I'm going to fall again. While I do think it's a despicable sin that I want to overcome, I realized that a big reason I was able to avoid it for so long was fear of confessing it. Sure I confessed it in my first confession as a convert, and while I definitely wouldn't say the first confession is easy, it's definitely easier to admit to looking at porn and masturbating when that sin could have been anywhere from days, to years ago. But now I had to confess to something that clearly happened the other day, seeing as I received the Eucharist last Sunday. A fresh mortal sin is definitely more difficult to confess. While I'm happy I confessed it so that I didn't have to deny myself the Eucharist this Sunday, I feel like I also broke through one of the biggest barriers, which isn't good. Now that I've confessed such a mortal sin, I feel like even though I don't want to go through that again, I'll now struggle with temptation more, now that I've already overcome the fear of confessing this sin.

Honestly, I was firstly skeptical with the video. I thought it was going to be "just don't sin bro", "sin is bad" or explaining extensively about something I already accepted. But instead it was a really sumarizing, practical and loveful video that sounded like an advice from a friend. It honestly helped me a lot both understading about it and mainly dealing with it. I thank you both with the most honest thanks my heart can give 🤗

In my workplace (metal working shop), there's this one guy that keep putting up this pornographic picture in my workplace, and he (and anotger co worker) get upset when i take it down. They know I'm catholic, and that I think that nudity is genuinly disguisting. I have zero tolerance for pornography, and they don't care. Please pray for me and my co workers. I've offered decades of the rosary for them.

@insideouskraken3424
@insideouskraken3424 10 ай бұрын
It's NOT irreversible. But it's not easy to turn away. I spent most of my life starting around 12 addicted to pork, and by extension, lust. I tried many times to quit, and failed. Unfortunately, those times I "quit" weren't entirely sincere. Porn is an addiction. It's the most pernicious drug there is. It's not even recognized as a drug, but if you think about it, it fits all the criteria. There's only one way to quit any drug, and that's "cold turkey." Get rid of it, all of it. If it's tapes or cds/dvds, throw them away. Magazines and books; trow them away. Downloads on your computer; delete them. ALL of them. Don't kid yourselves, you don't have the strength to keep this stuff in any form. You will fail if it's there. Lose it. Prayer is your best defense. Mass and communion, and the Holy Rosary are your weapons. Use them as often as you can. If you find yourself thinking impure thoughts, simply stop it, and say "Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, help me." It's not the thought that is sinful, it's dwelling on it that makes it a sin. Be mindful of what you see/watch on the internet. If it even looks suggestive, turn away. You trained yourself to be lustful, now train yourself not to be. It's doable, Nick. I didn't think I could do it after 55 years and multiple failure, but it is doable. I kept giving up because it was easy, and I never got rid of the porn. But you can do this. I will pray for. God be with you.

Believe me, the Three Hail Mary devotion is the most effective devotion against the sins of Lust. It must be recited as given below: Mary, my Mother, free me from falling into mortal sin. By the power granted you by the Eternal Father, Hail Mary… By the wisdom granted you by the Son, Hail Mary… By the love granted you by the Holy Spirit, Hail Mary… You conclude with a Glory be … and the brief prayer, “Mary, by your Immaculate Conception, purify my body and sanctify my soul.” (This prayer was granted an indulgence by Saint Pius X.)

Lust is a violation of not just the 6th commandment, but the 5th commandment. If the thought that by lusting after a person you are committing adultery with them is not sufficient to keep you from doing it, then think of yourself murdering that person instead. The horrific realities of the child pornography industry should make that connection clear.

Well, if that's the case, do all Mikes tell the truth... Organically a plant is based out of a single cell in which by the natural order of said cell, it is already in the plant's biological pattern whether it is a fruitful plant or not. Same patterns are found in people. in certain traits. We all have bad habits, but only those those biological patterns can help us replenish for what the bad habits may take from us. In the same manner, St Faustina says in her writings. In the end of times a saint will choose whether they are to be of service or fall from grace, like the angels in the fall. I stand with Mother Teresa, just keep walking, 9/10 an action in obedience to the goodness of virtue will triumph a heartfelt yes, even in a wholesome heart. It is biblical and said patterns usually are there for a reason, as the father who asked both of his sons to help him work the field. You may know one said yes and one said no, yet their answers differed the response.

Small point of contention, but intrusive impure thoughts are still sin even if you don't consent to them. They stem from concupiscence which, contrary to the consensus of the Scholastics, is sin itself. But choosing to consent to such thoughts and entertain them definitely does make it worse and serves to harden your heart against the Lord in a way that involuntary thoughts do not.

Jesus told me that He gifted me with suffering. Honestly, I wasn't happy about that. Then, He explained to me that He wanted me to be intimate with Him through great suffering. He promised that one day, instead of pain in the suffering and great sacrifice, I would experience ecstasy entangled with Him. What I'm experiencing is the impurities of my heart rising to the top from the flames of His desire for purity and holiness. After years, it's beginning to manifest ✨️ ✨️✨️my life isn't easier. With every strategic cut Jesus makes, sculpting me into The Bride of His deepest desires, there is intimacy unspeakable, and as my obedient fragrant offering is poured out for HIS pleasure I receive His depth of love and mysteries you can't get any otherway. I still don't do it well, but that's part of it, too. In my imperfections, His Perfect Beauty is conquering me.

If you are a Baptised Catholic, then yes. If you are not a Catholic, then not necessarily no. If you're a baptised Catholic you're bound to the laws of the Church which stipulates a valid marriage can only be granted while married in the Church, or with valid dispensation from doing so (for whatever reason). If you're a non-Catholic Christian, and you & your spouse are both baptised, you would incur a "Sacramental Marriage", this is specifically as a grace given by the Church to ensure that A) the majority of the world does not commit fornication, B) it disposes them at certain actual graces that assist in the likelihood of conversion to the true faith. If you're non-baptised, and your spouse isn't, you would just incur a natural marriage or a legal marriage; these are still technically "marriages" per se, but not to the degree wherein you're simply fornicating by having intercourse. Muslims for instance aren't fornicating. Hope this helps.

Lust and promiscuity have destroyed my life and I am so glad that I found Jesus. I have a problem with this approach to lust though. Most of the Christians out there on KZfaq, they kind of miss the point. They make this issue sound like black and while where it is so nuanced. Like what does it mean when you said either you follow Christ or you don't. Ok I do follow Christ but, how do we interpret what Christ meant for our sexuality exactly? We have so many interpretations. For the Catholics, it seems that sex only for procreation purposes, I don't agree with this aspect but I don't think this is the only way to enjoy sex. If that so, then why would God make it so pleasurable? My second problem with this is that people make lust sounds like it is all about the physical aspects. I don't think that's how it works, not all of us think of sex as just a physical act that can give you pleasure and that's it. I think the root issue of lust is spiritual, we all long for intimacy, bonding, appreciation of the human body, and the feeling that we are being seen and cared for and we look for these things in the wrong place (lust). I believe that only God can fully fulfill us, sex alone won't do it, but I also believe that God made sex so we can have a glimpse of His perfect love. Sorry for the long uncoherent comment, but I iust liked to share some of my thoughts. God bless

Lust isn't the sin the it's an outcome of the sin, lack of control is the sin lack of self control, the action is an intentional lack, which means the sin is lack, for once one lacks they're subservient to all kinds of outcomes that will result in taking part in commitment to the sin. Clearly there isn't anything wrong with lust, there is something wrong with not being able to control the lust in a sexual desire where it causes harm to the affect of someone else even to self. The way people are explaining these things are clearly wrong. They're also calling angels fallen angels and stating they're demons. What is the definition of demon? It's not a fallen angel, there is a group of people pushing a specific narrative and the people just follow instead of study lmao!!!

Question: Married couple has sex like crazy with each other, including mutual masturbation and dressing "immodestly" in private for each other's eyes only. Is this sinful?
@pr0xy373
@pr0xy373 9 ай бұрын
Mutual masturbation is mortally sinful. Not exercising the virtues of chastity (even within marriage) is often sinful, you're supposed to use intercourse as a means to avoid strong sexual temptation, but you will never foster virtue if you simply keep pushing one another towards regular near occasions of lust (there is of course positive sexual desire, but this is more strongly ordered and comes around naturally; whereas the near occasion is much more intentionally incited by one partner). The dress of modesty is a much more subjective question and it's hard to answer, I'd consult a Priest.
@danihensley
@danihensley 9 ай бұрын
@pr0xy373 In other words: The church is teaching a double-standard. They want you to believe that sex outside if marriage is bad, but sexual activity of any kind WITHIN a marriage between husband and wife = good and holy, but at the sane time, still bad and therefore sinful. And husband and wife aren't allowed to "incite" sexual activity between each other, nor are they allowed to feel sexual attraction for each other because "lust is sinful", and the church has zero realization that without sexual attraction (lust) there is no relationship to be had. Make it make sense

How many Catholic priests would dare to preach about lust to the crowd, if any even would, since they are trying not to offend the people, or to disturb their complacency, and lust to men is like breathing. You said that if we sin in this way, we ought to go to confession, so that we would return to the state of grace, thus implying that priests can absolve sins. And the Catholic church really teaches that priests can forgive sins, and when they forgive sins, they are forgiven by God also. That's a false doctrine. The Bible doesn't teach that. Only God can forgive sins. To say that priests have the authority to forgive sins is to say that God yields to the will of the priests, which are mere men, for example if God would not forgive the sins of a certain man, if a priest has absolved his sins, God would need to comply with the decision of the priest. The Catholic confession only gives false hope to the believers, and its a dangerous doctrine.
@RepublicofE
@RepublicofE 9 ай бұрын
The Bible definitely gives pastors/priests the authority to retain and forgive sins. The error of the Papists was in connecting confession/absolution to the false doctrine of purgatory, and in insisting that one cannot return to a state of grace without being absolved by a priest (absent extenuating circumstances). That's false doctrine, but the idea that priests/pastors can give absolution is absolutely biblical. No, it's not God yielding to the will of the priest, for when the pastor/priest pronounces absolution, he stands in the place of Christ and by His authority. He does not do it as mere man. Insofar as Rome is wrong about this practice it is in the fact that they do in fact make it more about the priest as man than as servant of Christ, though they would deny this.
