sequel trilogy destroyed all Force rules, in og trilogy u saw Luke with heightened senses, piloting skills and able to deflect laser bolts in ANH, heightened agility, telekenisis and sabre fighting in ESB and in ROTJ all of them plus the mind trick only available to most gifted. Sequel trilogy has non Force sensitive Poe take out entire fleets, Leia flying like Superman in vacuum of space and Rey casually lifting 10000 tons of rock (Yoda could only lift the x wing at great concentration). It became stupid like Marvel.

I’d argue that Gendy Tartakovski introduced “Force Fu” on screen first with his “Clone Wars” 2003 series, when Mace Windu solo’d several droid battalions in chapter 12 without his lightsaber.

Probably the best example of "Force-Fu" was pre-Disney Star Wars with Mace Windu in the Tarkovsky Clone Wears where he bare hand fights Super Battle Droids like nothing. Other than that moment, cant really think of any others where Jedi or Sith fight not use Lightsabers.

Yet again Disney not understanding the force and force-users in their IP they bought. Hand to hand combat would be largely useless for a being with telekinetic powers and swords that can cut most things instantaneously. Not to mention a waste of time training with something that takes years of dedication & discipline. They already dedicate their time by training up their powers and saber abilities. And that brings it to my next point, that is their martial art; the way of the Jedi and the way of the Sith take years to master. Also sticking your legs and arms out in an attack seems pretty re tard ed when your opponent can cut them off in an instant without much effort.

The prequel introduced this not Disney, Nick Gillard working with Rey Park. The style was Kendo mixed with Wushu.

It looks like another SITH-show (See what I did there?) from Disney. I'll rate it "MM" for "must miss".

There was an unarmed fighting system in the early 2000s game Star Wars Galaxies called Teras Kasi. That was one of the many professions you could pick in that game. As for Disney, yes they are a bunch of candy asses.

While I have been interested in the Jedi and Siths combat skills outside of using a Lightsaber and Force powers, I worry that the Lightsaber might lose its point, with all this other stuff that they want the Jedi and Sith to do.

I rather watch Bruce Lee movies from the 70's then watch the Acolyte series. The lightsaber is the identity of Star Wars red saber Sith, green and blue saber Jedi, now you take those sabers away and add martial arts with throwing stars it just doesn't make any sense at all. It's like having light sabers in the Matrix and you take away the martial arts and call it "The Matrix" it doesn't make any sense.

I haven't watched yet am just starting. But I gotta say I've been seeing a lot of complaints about this show "introducing" force fu. Did we all forget about the 2003 clone wars when mace windu blows through a bunch of super battle droids hand to hand? And as a battlemaster in the jedi order, one specializes in another form of combat outside of light saber, and hand to hand combat has always been a valid option for that role? Kotor unarmed build being completely viable? It's pretty much always been a thing? Anyhow shutting up now and hearing what you have to say. Just had to share that observation on the general discourse I've been seeing.
