Again: sorry about the lighting in this one. I need to figure out another time to record these.
The Book: "The Alchemist is a novel by Brazilian author Paulo Coelho which was first published in 1988. Originally written in Portuguese, it became a widely translated international bestseller."

Finally got around to reading this one today. First of all, it seems that you, like the boy near the end of the novel, are speaking to the sun as it beams upon you in this video. Maybe there's some connection to be made between you making these videos and the fulfillment of your own Personal Legend haha. But in all seriousness, I totally agree with your take on the active pursuit of fate/destiny being a crux of the point of the novel. I think I would add that the sort of secular translation of your take on it being a metaphor for faith and it's journey is that it's a metaphor for love. To me, through Santiago's journey, love is shown -- in a very true way -- that it can be a kind of faith. That it doesn't get in the way of your purpose and your motivation, but in fact, it can (and should) fuel it, and become a manifestation of it.

Yo! Thanks for the comment! That’s an interesting interpretation! I agree that love is one of the central things that manifests in Santiago’s journey, and I agree it fuels and even fulfills his purpose. It’s certainly one of the most tangible outcomes of his journey. I think it’s interesting that you point to love, too, as it shows some of Coelho’s faith coming through the text. Christ’s central teachings and purpose for us all is love. So, it’s interesting you noticed that taking shape rather than faith itself, which I think the novel is more explicit about commenting on rather than love. Really cool to see how these interpretations play off each other like that!
