Historical Example: The German Empire's national anthem prior to 1919 was "Heil dir im Seigerkranz", but many germans also considered "Deutschlandlied" the Unofficial national anthem, so when the Weimar Republic was established, Deutschlandlied was officially made the national anthem. Maybe we just have to waith for some of these to have their turns.

Also, am I the only one who prefers "Hail, Columbia" to "The Star-Spangled Banner"? Your pronunciation sounded more like Gru from Despicable Me trying to speak Swedish tho

I got another one for you: the Dutch national anthem is "het Wilhelmus" ("the William"), but - until somewhere in the 19th century - used to be a song, which first 2 lines roughly translate to: "[He] who has Dutch blood flowing through [his] vains, free of alien (as in outland or from the unknown) impureness", which was later changed to "[He] who (...) [his] vains, whose heart beats proud and free."

Don't worry, your Norwegian pronounciation was pretty good. *Definitivly* heavily accented, but good. =) As in anyone would understand what you're saying. ^^ That said, it honestly sounded kind of German rather then Norwegian. But the two languages are so closely related that this isn't really a problem. =) Basically linguistic diversity is kind of a big thing here and pretty much *everyone* will use their local dialect even when talking with language learners and definitivly in official situations, media, politics etc. And since our language is so closely related to the other nordic languages (they're all in a huge dialect continuum) they all just sort of sound like dialects of Norwegian. For instance Danish with a Faeroese accent might even fool Norwegians into thinking it's a Norwegian dialect from some region they're not so familiar with. A mix of Swedish and Norwegian, Svorsk is also close enough to Norwegian that it would probably have been mistaken for a dialect if we wheren't all so familiar with Swedish that we just can't help to notice it, and the same applies to some of the dialects on the Swedish border. Standard Swedish and Danish *is* different enough to be recognized as definitivly not Norwegian although we have very little problem with understanding them due to all the practice we have with our own dialects that's often quite different from eachother. Icelandic and Faeroese while harder to understand for your average east nordic person sounds an awfull lot like some of the more rural and conservative of the western norwegian dialects found hidden deep in some of the valleys and fjords of Norway and people in those regions generally understand Faeroese and Icelandic quite well, and the rest of the norwegian population can generally get the gist of what is being said in Icelandic or Faeroese even if the individual words don't always make sense to us. Heck, even German (northern german dialects) and Dutch makes a lot of sense to us. Ugh, that ended up a lot longer then I planned... But the point (more or less) that I'm trying to make is that we're used to people not talking *exactly* like us so even if some might call you out for not talking Norwegian I'm fairly sure that they'll be good natured and just offer advice on how to do better next time (if you want to) =)

China, both Chinas, have their secondary national anthem. Republic of China have "National Flag Anthem of Republic of China" (Blue Sky White Sun and Wholly Red Earth), currently used in sporting events as Chinese Taipei. Meanwhile, People's Republic of China has "Ode to the Motherland". It currently counts as patriotic song. In Cultural Revolution times, "the East is Red" is unofficially the national anthem.

If with orchestral accompaniment, the national anthem of Britain is in fact land of hope and glory. And officially, the British (not English) orchestral anthem (without singing) is indeed Rule Britannia, and is played for military or royal parades. YOU SHOULD MAKE A VIDEO EXPLAINING THIS LOL!!
